Good News

In hindsight I don´t really understand why I thought that my kind Hungarian-Swedish doctor would cut me off from the medication I feel I still need, perhaps it was because many have told me that two years is a long time and that they were cut off much earlier.

My doctor is actually one of only three doctors I have met in my life as a patient who doesn't only pretend to listen but proves again and again that he hears what I am saying - and sometimes even what I am not saying. I notice that by the questions he asks me.

Well, at our meeting today I immediately blurted out my worries. He just looked kindly at me with a small smile and said, "My dear (Bock), I have no plans whatsoever to cut you off from medication that you feel is good for you." With that out of the way, we had a good long conversation and he gave the results of all the blood work and tests which apparently indicate that I am in the best of physical health.

Thank for the support guys and girls, big hugs!

P.S. Please also read my friend Butch Diavolo´s post "Life without pills?" on his blog "Butch Ramblings". As I tell him in a comment there, it gives me hope for a future without medication.

    1. Well, during the lunch hour I had before my appointment I didn't eat a thing but instead smoked 6-7 cigarettes. ;)

      Hugs Vampi!

  2. Well Bock, as an American, I've had friends and family who have been taking anti-depressants for years. Everyone is different. Some people need them for a period in their life and others need them in order to live their life.

With the help of a good doctor, only you will know what is best for you.

My partner has felt the need to wean himself off of these medications a few times just to prove he's strong enough to do that. After a few days, I've felt the need to cram them down his throat. It's odd, when he is off his meds, I suddenly turn into a bitch.

People don't treat depression just for themselves. They treat it for everyone else around them too.

    1. So true, I was being a damn fool and a real pest to people around me until my boss turned up in my room and told me, "Bock you are not well, either you make an appointment with the doctor now or I will do it and take you there myself!".

Sometimes I love her, other times not so much but I always respect her! ;)
