The Demise of an SL Institution

Today is the first day of the rest of our lives. It is also the first day without a new blogpost on My Avatar Name is Apmel, a SecondLife institution that has been accompanying and guiding us residents since 2006.
"She was in Paris" by Sergey Rybakov
Mr. Apmel Goosson Esq., enfante terrible, universal genius, philosopher, rebel, blogger, author, artist, cartoonist, etc., etc. and the honored 2011 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Bock McMillan Art Foundation (a part of the BMcM Corporation), has for some selfish reason decided that after 10,000 blogposts enough is enough. He did so without due consideration of the significant emotional distress and soul-wrenching turmoil he thereby causes to his faithful readers.

However, I must begrudgingly admit that my bosom buddy, of course, has the right to make such a decision and move on to new endeavors. In a heart-to-heart conversation, Apmel promised that we would find him on other media platforms but did not want to specify saying "Only the future can tell! Besides I won't leave SL, my avatars would never forgive me :)".

Thank you for your dedicated work through these fifteen years, Apmel! We are all looking forward to seeing your future work.

Apmel, My Bodhisattva!

Apmel Goosson, my house god for many years, in a post on his blog today (url) came out with the shocking revelation that he is not God.
This appalling disclosure at first completely shattered all my illusions and the world as I know it became a dark and scary place. That is until I figured out what had happened!

My Apmel has, of course, attained the blessed state of Nirvana and is freed from the eternal cycle of reincarnation to move on to the afterlife, but on the threshold, he looked back at the suffering humanity and in his compassion decided to stay with us to help us in achieving enlightenment.

Apmel has become my Bodhisattva, he is the one who will help me free myself from eternal desire and suffering.

A Straight Eye For The Queer Guy

I still haven't gotten over how truly stunning, fabulous and amazing I looked at the "It's A Party"-event, so I am giving you all another chance to admire me.
The fashion-forward CheerNo jumpsuit fitted me really well and kept me cool despite dancing nonstop for two whole hours.

Now that you've gotten your fill of the astounding me, why not surf on over to get The Not-So-Naked Apmel's report from the event: My Avatar's Name is Apmel: "It was Bock's party and notwithstanding Apmel's ass being there Bock's appearance would have made him center of attention at any party" (url). (Don't you just the lovely long title of that post?)

It's A Party Tomorrow...

Rumors have it that a naked straight man may attend the party tomorrow. Apmel Goosson, my mentor and bosom buddy, who is as straight as they get and loves to dress down has not said definitely no.
If he comes, he may bring along one of his dearest friends Ms. ush, but you should consider her almost as a beard and treat her kindly.

We have all been in situations where we "have (...) depended on the kindness of strangers", just like Blanche DuBois in Tennessee Williams play "A Streetcar Named Desire".

It's A Party...And You're All Welcome!

Please join us in celebrating Life, Love and the grand opening of Static Frenzy's exhibition at the Northmead Gallery, Southern Charm, SecondLife on Saturday, October 20th, 2018, at 12 PM (noon) SLT.

Music will be provided by the amazing Lee McKay. (By special dispensation, music by ABBA will be permitted - for the first and only time ever - on Southern Charm.)

SecondLife photographer Static Frenzy, as many already know, is renowned and loved for his vision of what it means to be an LGBT-man in a virtual reality with scenes from his everyday life, budding romances, and hot sexual encounters.

The Northmead Gallery also has its permanent galleries showing the works of JJ Goodman, Wayne Allan, and Tomais Ashdene besides parts of the Laird of Southern Charm's vast collection of  SecondLife artwork.

Wear whatever you feel like, but wear something. (The only one permitted to be completely nude is Mr. Apmel Goosson Esq., should he wish to attend.)

Remember, all the best parties should have at least one sim crash.

Here is your limousine waiting to transport you to The Northmead Gallery at Southern Charm (SLurl).

Esselebrity Makes A Painful Fashion Statement

Today the esselebrity Mr. Apmel Goosson Esq., world renowned blogger, fashionista and recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award of The Bock McMillan Art Foundation (A part of the BMcM Corporation) in 2011, proved that he was a highly qualified recipient of the award.

In the spirit of the old Swedish adage "Den som vill vara fin, får lida pin" ("If you wish to be beautiful, you must suffer the pain" - sort of like "No pain, no gain!") by observing the rule of not wearing socks with sandals despite admitting that his feet were cold.

SecondLife Turns 15, Let's Celebrate!

SecondLife was launched on June 23rd, 2003 when the adorable Philip Linden, our divine creator, first set foot in this world where Kahvy Smith only existed as an atom that would develop into the first dinosaur. Apmel Goosson wasn't far behind (just a fem nanoseconds) but still came in as first runner-up.

So this year it is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary. Wouldya believe it? It looks so old and mature...

Our darling Ebbe Linden and the Linden Lab har promised that there will be a yearlong celebration. Read all about the improvements at the SecondLife Community blog (url), which include lower mainland costs, the return of last names, improved performance and migration to the Cloud and much much more.

Happy 15th birthday SecondLife!

I was an eyewitness to the event when the blogs counter stopped rolling due to the constrictions in it's format.

Congratulations, my dear friend! Way to go!

JJ's Pictures From The Pool Party

My sweet brother JJ Goodman has published these great pictures from yesterdays pool party of F*c*book. With his kind permission I post them here also.

As always you can enlarge the pictures by clicking on them.
Tomais and I would like to thank everyone who was there for making it such a great time. We are aware that some of you could not stay long because of the lag, but thanks for trying.

We would also like to thank our friends DJ Kahvy and his host Garrett, a.k.a. The Smith Boys, for helping us in making this a wonderful party. Thanks also to my brother Dejerrity Mycron for proving "Top Security" at the event, despite constant crashing.

We thank all of you for your generous donations to The Ali Forney Center (post on proceeds and forwarding to AFC to follow)

For more pictures from the party, please visit my friend Apmel Goosson's blog My Avatar's Name Is Apmel: At the Pool Party on Southern Charm.

My First Pageant In SecondLife

Yesterday I attended my first pageant show in SecondLife. Marcus Lefevre, the owner and organizer of Miss SL, had kindly extended an invitation to Tomais and myself to be present at the press presentation of the event. The real event will occur in a fortnight.

As Tomais had first life duties to take care of, I went off to the event on my own. I was still there when I was joined by my Tomais three hours later. (The organizers have realized that the length of the event is a problem and are taking steps to insure that it will be substantially shorter for the final in two weeks time.)

Although it was an extremely long event by SecondLife standards, I must say it was both fascinating and enjoyable for the most part, even if I am not a true fashionista like my bosom buddy Apmel Goosson (who was busy attending another fashion event at the same time, the Penumbra Fashion Week).

The presenters at the show were a hoot with their fun bantering, my special favorite being Diana Balthaus who is an avid profile-perv like myself.

I took about half a million snapshots at the event, but in this post I will limit myself to just a few of the girls in the pageant, so as not to spoil your fun at the finals, and a little eye candy for gay men that I spotted in the crowd attending the function.

At the end of the function Marcus made a speech in which he - among other things - announced the upcoming Mr SL 2016 event.
This asymmetric dress was popular among many of the
contestants, in several imaginative combinations
This turban/hat/bonnet was one of the most popular accessories among the contestants.
I am most certainly getting this red one or maybe the black for my Bocquerelle drag outfit.
One of my my favorites, Miss Japan

And now for the eye-candy that got me a bit distracted during the pageant.
My special favorite, the security guard (straight alas) *deep sigh*
A hot spectator
Marcus Aurelius, my Norwegian buddy - looking stunning
