Latin Dancing

Prrrrrr-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai!

Yesterday I visited Big Momma's Ballroom at Pine Valley for some Latin ballroom dancing. As there were even couples when I arrived I brought in one of my alt's, Princess Hedda, to be my dance partner. She arrived barefoot as she had been culling the turnips at home, but we soon got her into some high-heels and the dancing of rumba, cha-cha and jive etc. could commence.

I much prefer dancing with my Tomais, because he takes care of changing the dances - as the natural born multitasker he is.
When Tomais arrived Princess Hedda was sent back to her turnips and I could relax and enjoy the dancing more as I left it to Tomais to deal with the changing of the dances that the bossy DJ Kahvy shouted out.

BM's Ballroom - Now in the Destination Guide

Yesterday my friend Kahvy Sands, general manager, dance master, DJ, jack of all trades and factotum to Her Royal Majesty Big Momma Oh, Queen of the Netherlands in SecondLife, sent me a link to the SecondLife destination guide.

Big Momma's Ballroom has now made it to the destination guide! I am certain that the beautiful picture of BM Oh and myself dancing at the ballroom helped a little. The only drawback is that now it will be even harder to get into the sim, when there is a party.

Congratulations to the wonderful Big Momma's  Ballroom (url to the post in the Destination Guide)!

Lights, Music & Dance!

Big Momma's Ballroom had its season opening yesterday. The beautiful place is owned and operated by my friends BM Oh and Kahvy Sands.

The venue was filled with dance enthusiasts who had sorely missed this entertainment since the venue closed at the beginning of summer. As an added treat we had live entertainment provided by the awesome singer Chi (Inchino Melson).

A picture says more than a thousand words, so let me tell you about the rest of the wonderful evening in pictures!

Formal Dances with BM

I have been lazy and self indulgent the last few days, but I came in-world for a short while this evening.

Seconds after I got in there was a group message about a dance at Big Momma's Ballroom with my buddy Kahvy as DJ, so I took the taxi there. When I arrived I realized that I was not dressed for the occasion, but they always let me get away with a lot at that venue so I stayed anyway. I did not regret it.

My friend BM asked me to dance with her and I accepted with great pleasure. We look nice together, don't you think?

Ballroom Dancing with Jayde

I had received an invitation to the Christmas Dance at Big Momma´s Ballroom from my friend Kahvy Sands. Well "invitation" may be too nicely put, it was more like a command but I was looking forward to the dance anyway, I always have a good time there.

Due to a nap that lasted too long I was late getting there but my initial sleepy confusion was made up for by the fact that the beautiful Jayde was there. We have met and danced before and she always makes me look good. We had an absolutely wonderful time!

I had a small altercation with Guyke about my use of the word "francophone" in a previous post. He made it quite clear to me that his native tongue is Dutch although he speaks French well. I responded that I am a well educated man with more than a fleeting interest in and knowledge of many things in the world and that I was well aware of the difference between the Dutch-speaking and French-speaking populations of Belgium and having know him for five years also of the fact that  he is Flemish and not a Walloon.

Well, what is a little tiff among family members, I love him and he loves me anyway!

The NOH8 Campaign In SecondLife (Updated)

Photo of Kahvy Sands by Save Zsun
The NOH8 Campaign (url) has now moved from first life into SecondLifeKahvy Sands, one of my oldest friends inworld, informed me today.

Update
The move, according to my information, came about through the work of Thorn Andel. Kudos to him!

The NOH8 Campaign is a photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska (http://www.bouska.net) and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Proposition 8 and similar legislation around the world, with "NOH8" painted on one cheek in protest.

To join in the campaign in SecondLife you take a picture of yourself and post it among the pics on your profile.

The necessary utensils (the duct tape and the cheek painting) can be picked up free of charge at Kahvy Sands venue Big Momma´s Ballroom Update new location inserted. You get the the NOH8 stuff by touching the vase with roses in the left corner.

"The dream of marriage shouldn't just be limited to heterosexual people, it should be about two people who love each other. Period. Don't H8, it's unbecoming." -  Lisa Ling (American journalist)
...

I am going to get my picture ready next time I am inworld more than a few minutes.

P.S. If you would please send me your picture (fullperm), I will be happy to post it. Name the picture NOH8 and your avatar name and drop it on my profile or send it to my email lundamats@gmail.com.

Ballroom Dancing

The first time I met Kahvy Sands was in the summer of 2007. Already back then he was living together with his husband Rick and their friend BM "Big Momma" Oh. I went to a few parties the three friends arranged and always had a good time.

We lost touch a bit after I got together with Ars, but we kept on talking once in a while and sent each other cards for the holidays. I was invited to them today for a ball room dance to celebrate Big Momma´s rezday. The huge ballroom was full of beautiful women in gorgeous gowns and men in dreary tuxedos which they still managed to look dashingly handsome in.

I haven't danced ballroom in a while but with the directions from Kahvy - who was also the DJ - about which dances to choose on the Intan I must say I danced like a God and made my all dance partners - and myself - proud.

Here are a few pictures.

It is amazing how easy it is to reconnect with old friends sometimes and to make some new ones too. I had a good chat with Big Momma and I must say she is nowhere close to the diva that I thought she might be when I first saw her. She is a really fun and kind woman and very genuine ("echt"). It was a pleasure to get to know her.
