Foul Play, Mass Hysteria or Gas, Says Laird

You have all most likely seen the many claims directed at the Much Honored Bock McMillan, laird of Southern Charm, prince of Cascade Falls, Sovereign Ruler of the Commonwealth of Southern Enchantment Region and Outer Territories and finally UN appointed Protector of the Solace Island and Mount Whitney sims in SecondLife, for having impregnated a host of men - and indeed even a few women - through his indiscriminate"poking" habits.

This blogs editor in chief took the opportunity to confront his lairdship about the claims yesterday, while the laird was lounging around at his mansion with a stunning swain (not yet identified).

"It's all a crock of shit!", the laird said while slowly caressing the small of the back of his favorite. "First of all there is no scientific evidence whatsoever which proves that Facebook-poking can lead to pregnancies in humans or avatars", he continued with a soft smile towards his handsome beau, "These people have either been using faulty methods or tampered with the test results. It may even be an outburst of mass hysteria or - come to think of it - flatulence caused by gluten sensitivity or something else they may have eaten."

"You can inform the scoundrels that I have already put my legal team, under the leadership of the notorious Attorney of the Realm Diana Gilderoy, onto this They should be careful of which claims they make or they may risk being sued for slander or worse. The dear girl will shred them to pieces. Now go away, you tiresome person, I have no more time for this. This beautiful lad needs, wants and deserves my full attention!"

Apologies

I must apologize to my family and friends in SecondLife for not being in-world at all the last days.

Let me first tell you that I am doing well but just thinking about and mentally preparing myself for the coming changes in my first life is taking its toll on me.

The tests on Tuesday went well and showed what could be expected. I am overweight. My heart is strong and steady, the blood tests show that my hematocrit and cholesterol and liver values are excellent as always. However my Oxygen uptake (VO2) shows that my physical condition is lousy and my fasting blood glucose indicate that I am pre-diabetic and need to shape up and change my dietary and exercising habits.

I am to have a meeting soon with a dietician who will give me some guidelines about what to eat and on Monday I have a new meeting with my health counsellor where we will decide on the goals we are going to set for the coming three months.

So all can still be salvaged - or so they tell me - but it is going to take some work and commitment on my part. I am so grateful for Diana reminding me that the change will not feel as a punisment six-eight weeks into the program.

What My Philip Is Up To!

As you may remember, I posted awhile back that "my Philip", a.k.a. Philip Rosedale in first life and Philip Linden in SecondLife, had completely dropped out of the leadership of Linden Lab (both the management and the board).

Well, I put my dear friend, attorney and sleuth Diana Gilderoy on the track and she has now reported back with some exciting news.

My darling Philip has actually started work on creating a new and improved virtual world for us. Philip and Mitch Kapor and some other imaginative people have started a company named High Fidelity. On the company's blog the first thing they declare is this:
"The Idea
We're building a new virtual world enabling rich avatar interactions driven by sensor-equipped hardware, simulated and served by devices (phones, tablets and laptops/desktops) contributed by end-users."
Take a look here for more, High Fidelity blog and this interesting post on TechCrunch by Leena Rao, which was posted on April 4, 2013, Second Life Founder Raises $2.4M For New Stealth Startup, High Fidelity

It is not yet known what Philip and his friends plan to call the new world but I should imagine that we can safely assume that ThirdLife is out of the question.

P.S.I have been thinking about this and have come to the conclusion that it is a really smart move by Philip to create a new and improved world from scratch, because that way he circumvents and avoids to have to deal with the usual crowd of loudmouthed residents in SecondLife who yell, kick and scream about any and every - minor or major - change that is made.

A Second Opinion

During the past week, while all the world has been worrying about the Boston bombings, I have been totally self absorbed and worrying about my own petty problems.

Yesterday I logged in-world determined to block out anything that had to do with first life. Whenever I was asked how I was doing, by caring friends who had read my blog, I simply answered - as I have done all week -  "I am fine" or "I will be fine" because I just didn't want to get into it all.

I tried that trick with Dejerrity too, but was unsuccessful, because he wouldn't let off and I guess I was so filled with it all and needed to talk about it with someone I trusted. So I started talking about it with him and all my frustration and confusion came gushing out.

It is all about my only remaining social arena in first life, i.e. my workplace. I have been the manager of a department consisting of six other lawyers, a conciliator and three legal assistants for the last twelve years. As I have mentioned earlier we had an employee survey at my company last year, as we have every other year. The results of this survey were delivered in the beginning of November last year. Usually I and my department come out of these surveys with flying colors. Not so this year, I flunked in many respects although my results were still excellent in others.

I am not used to bombing in any tests - ever. As far as I can remember it has only ever happened once before, and that was at university when we had an examination about a month and a half after my beloved maternal grandmother had passed away.
The lousy results of the employee survey had to be followed up of course, and we have done that to some extent, but are still not finished so I was not in the least surprised when my boss on Monday asked me to meet with her and the HR manager on Tuesday for further discussions.

At the meeting on Tuesday I was offered what I - at the time - perceived to be a Mafia-like "offer that I could not refuse". While constantly reiterating that she had complete confidence in me and that she believed that I could and would once again function as an excellent manager of my department she all the same maintained that I needed to take time out to work on some of my issues. my physical health (22 sick days last year) and general well-being. She then went on to offer me three months to do so with full pay and released from my managerial duties, which during the meantime would be taken over by my substitute. If all went well and I managed to get on the right track, which she repeatedly told me she was convinced of, I would be reinstated by September.

All my warning signals went off simultaneously and paranoia took a firm grip of my mind. I saw this as a roundabout way to remove me from my position and started  to kick and scream - figuratively - and told them straight off that I would not accept anything that included me stepping down as manager. No way, no how, it was certainly not going to happen if I had anything to do with it, never ever, totally unacceptable! (Do you get the gist of my line?)

I also told them (or rather my boss, the HR manager did not count) that if they wanted to remove me as manager of the department I would prefer a clean break and not going through these strange motions, to which my boss answered that she had no intention whatsoever of removing me as manager if I only got with the program.

At that point we decided to adjourn the meeting and to meet again on Thursday. After thinking about it all Tuesday evening and a worried nights sleep I went to work on Wednesday and sent them an email in which I asked to be relieved from all my duties as manager forthwith. I received an answer from my boss that they still wanted to meet with me on Thursday.

So I went to the meeting on Thursday prepared to discuss how to leave my position and the handover process, but my boss - the stubborn and irritating woman - was not on the same page as me. She told me straight out that she was not prepared to accept my resignation and repeated again that she wished me to consider the matter carefully because she was convinced that if I was given the time I would be able to fulfill my obligations perfectly while at the same time improving my physical health and general physical condition and well-being.

They were going to send me the offer in writing and she wanted me to discuss it with someone I trusted over the weekend.
So this was the point I was at on Friday evening when I logged in-world determined not to worry about the chaos in my mind that the discussions at work had resulted in.

While I told Dej about the events I remembered certain things that I had managed to block out during the process. The most important ones were that I actually admire and like my boss, despite her tendency to move to immediate action when she is confronted with a problem, and also that I have worked with her for thirteen years and fundamentally trust her.

Dej's reaction to the offer and his opinion of it also made me consider it as less threatening and more of a beneficial offer that I could and definitely should rethink and see the possibilities it gave me to improve my present way of life.

The conversation with Dej has given me food for further thought and I am no longer stuck in the paranoid state of mind I was in earlier.

P.S. I would like to apologise for my distraction to those who also tried to speak with me during my conversation with Dej, especially Vampi, Diana and sirhc.

Preparations

The day had come for the most fabulous event of the year in SecondLife, the annual Miss Wigstock contest at Gay Riviera.

For some crazy reason I had rather hastily declared that I would go to the event in drag, but when I took a look at what I had of drag-outfits I started feeling like Cinderella, dreary and not fit to go anywhere in. In short I had a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y nothing decent to wear among guys dressed up to kill.

Action was needed and action was taken, I went out to shop for fantastic and amazing outfits despite my double-payment problems.

If Kahvy Sands had not forcibly enrolled BM Oh to assist me, I would still have been out there looking. My newest friend is a "diva assoluta" herself and of course knew all the best shops where I could find everything I needed. Halfway through we were joined by my friends Diana and Carol for added - and valued - consultation.

Do any of you know how many things any decent woman needs just to get out of bed, even in SecondLife? Well, there is nail-polish (both fingers and toes), lipstick, eye-shadow, mascara, eye-lashes, blush, heels, gowns, jewelry (earrings, necklace, rings and bracelets) and much, much more.

Did you even know that since the tattoo-layer came to SecondLife it no longer matters which eye-shadow your skin has? You just put an optional eye-shadow over it and whammo you have a whole different make-up!

Well, we had many busy and fun hours but when we were ready I was dressed to slaughter the competition even if I was not in The Miss Wigstock contest.

Thank you so much BM, Diana and Carol, I could not have done it without you! I looked absolutely fabulous even if I have to say so myself!

Miss Wigstock 2013 (LM added)

Prepare yourselves for the event of the season! Today is the day for Glamour, Bling & 'Cha-Ching'.

The 5th Annual Miss Wigstock contest is being held today, 12 PM (noon) SLT, at The Theater on the Hill (SLurl) at Gay Archipelago.

I am going in elegant, award winning at OrmDricka 2010 or 2011. drag attire with a few minor adjustments (but I cannot find the post I did on that victory) and I am looking forward to seeing you all there.

Rumor has it that the SLebrity Mr. Eddi Haskell is going to be one of the judges at the event... so if for nothing else you should come to take a look at that sexy piece of man meat!

...shit, only 8 hours to get ready why am I wasting my time talking with ya´ll?

P.S. Guyke, ma´ buoy, get your ass in gear! I need high-heeled shoes that fit my feet!

P.P.S. I went wild and crazy and have created a completely new look with the help of my new friend BM Oh and Diana and Carol!

Well, We Had A Good Run

Yesterday was of course April Fools Day. I and my wife-for-a-day the lovely Iendi Laville had a very busy day the day before preparing our joint prank. Now we were waiting and chatting in IM for the time when both our blog posts were going to be published simultaneously at 2 AM SLT.

We had decided on doing this little hoax on Friday evening and had been very busy during parts of the Saturday with the preparation and implementation of our small project. Everything came together very nicely. We worked well together and had loads of fun while doing it.

By pure lack it turned out that the colors of the flowers in Iendi´s bouquet matched perfectly with the tuxedo vest I was wearing. We created a short queue at the Chapel of Dreams, with me crashing twice and leaving the poor woman standing alone at the altar and with sharing the longest kiss ever recorded in Christendom because the animation refused to show up on my screen. Anyway finally we had all the great pictures we needed to illustrate the prank and went to write up our stories.

We shared the pictures and the outlines of our respective posts with each other via e-mail. Iendi was so sweet as not to point out that I, through some Freudian slip, had forgotten to include the most important picture in my post, the wedding kiss itself. A few hours after the post had been published I was reminded of it by a comment on the post by my friend Diana.

All in all, I must summarize my day of being married with a woman as great fun. Iendi was a wonderful collaborator even if she jokingly pestered me with - unfulfilled I hasten to add - requests for sex so she could report her successful mission in converting me to "the straight and narrow path" to her sisters and her friends.

External Memories

Hermione Gingold & Maurice Chevallier from "Gigi" (1958)

I am always certain that I remember correctly, but from time to time I realize that my memory has a will of its own.and what I remember in hindsight may not be what actually happened. It as is at times like these that I heavily rely on people around me - in both my lives - to inform me of what really occurred when it occurred, who where there etc.,etc.

In my SecondLife I rely mainly on four people to work as my "external memories", these are in the order they appeared in my SecondLife Sarco Halderman, D R E Y, Millimina Salamander and Diana Gilderoy. They do not always have to give me very many clues or set me straight on something before the true memory comes to me, but my mind simply needs those inputs to start delving in the right places.

The Last C&P Show

When I got the news that Circe Broom was shutting down the Laurel Arts sim I was devastated. I have spent many hours of my SecondLife there enjoying poetry, live performances, comedy acts and last - but in no way least - "The Coffee and Pajamas Jazz Show with Elfay Pinkdot" (C&P) together with Ars, with friends or on my own.
Circe Broom, owner of the Laurel Arts sim
I first knew off C&P and met with DJ Elfay Pinkdot at the Saturday and Sunday shows that were held at Second Pride Festival of 2008. I was blown away by this chatty DJ who played great music while having an interactive banter with those at the show in SecondLife or listening in on radio and who were sending her messages by text or mail.
DJ Elfay Pinkdot in action
Everyone didn't get or like the format of the show, which relies heavily on audience participation and Elfay´s communication with us throughout the show. But I was thrilled and excited as many of the regulars who lovingly came week after week for Elfay, the music and the other regulars (in that order). Circe herself and her lover Vince were almost always there. Circe acting as a safe anchor and participating with the rest of us.
Margo, Carol, I and Diana
After Ars passed away I rarely left the home sim for a long time except for sets by Bara Jonson and Strum Diesel or events at OrmDricka and the C&P. These places I felt loved, welcomed and fairly safe. I cannot say how I would have managed without them, but I am happy they were there when I was in need.
Margo, Carol, I, Joetonight and Diana
As I was preparing for the last show of C&P at Circe´s Sunset Jazz Club I was sad but at the same time happy, because although I knew this was the last time I would be going there I would also meet the other regulars who had become my fiends, Circe, Elfay, Diana, Carol, Joetonight, Margo, Ex, Mari (who unfortunately could not be there this Sunday), DoubleDown Tandino (whom I meanly have renamed DDT for short) and more, many more.
It is sad when good things come to an end, but I for one will relish in the sweet memories of those days until I lose my mind or die. The last show was a Valentines Day celebration, if you should wonder about all the hearts.

Reflections on a Monday

Sunday was a hectic day for me. My feelings were all over the place, swinging from sorrow to happiness and then back and forth a few times. All in all it was a good day though.

Can one actually celebrate a wedding anniversary if the spouse is dead? That was one of the things on my mind early in the day, but I soon decided that "Hell yes, sure I can" because it was one of my happiest days in SecondLife. "Honi soit qui mal y pense" (which in Bockese directly translates into "Bugger those evil minded bastards who think ill thereof")

Then I was reached by the news of Whitney Houston´s death at an early age in tragic circumstances. The first song that came to my mind was "I Will Always Love You" from the film where she starred against Kevin Costner, "The Bodyguard". Not very original I know but...

The last Coffee and Pajamas Jazz Show with Elfay at Circe´s Sunset Jazz Club brought laughter and sad and happy memories. That club and that show and Circe, Elfay, Diana, Margo and Carol, Mari and Ex and all the other regulars there, meant a lot for me during a difficult time. I cannot even begin to explain how important it was for me to have that place to go to every Saturday (and later Sunday). It was a sad parting of sorts but still not because they will all remain in SecondLife and hopefully we will all keep in touch.

The Sunday ended on a very happy and festive note with the birthday bash of my buddy Ziggy Starsmith and his studelicious man Holter. All the gay hunks of SecondLife where there and I should think some more came after I left at midnight (my time) to catch some sleep before work today.

In between the show and the party I had good conversations with my sister Millimina, my brother in-laws Dejerrity and Andrey...hmmm sorry I mean D R E Y. My avatars soul was after further investigations proven to be in mortal peril and was finally saved.

But more about the last show, the birthday bash and the tests and the scary treatments I had to undergo to save my soul in future posts. I need to gather more energy for that.

Ohh I will also reveal the identity of "my vampire", the most beautiful vampire that has ever existed, including that silly Tom Cruise´s rendition.

My Second Home is Closing

It is with heartrending sadness I keep rereading this note card from my amazing friend Circe Broom entitled "Closing Notice". I had somehow missed it in the onslaught of messages that meet you when you log in to SecondLife but my reliable friend Diana Gilderoy forwarded it to me.

Circe Broom
"It is with profound regret that I must announce the closing of my Laurel Arts Isle venues (Sunset Jazz Club, Memphis Pavilion, Luxor Stage, Cairo Theater, and Sanctuary), which will take place on February 20, 2012.
I have run venues since 2004, but can no longer sustain the cost of maintaining the sim. I thank you all for your visits over the years. I am grateful for all the wonderful music and poetry that has taken place in my venues. It is hard to let go, but I simply must.
Thank you. I will never forget the wonderful times we've had. Join us during these last weeks of our existence, take pics, post them, send them to me, whatever - so that we can remember Laurel Arts for another 8 years!
I want to thank those of you who have donated at the venues, helping to keep the Laurel Arts venues running this long. Due to the recession and a seeming paradigm shift in Second Life, not many people deem it necessary to support entertainment in SL, causing many venues to close down. Sadly, my venues now join those who have come to this bitter end.
The final shows on Laurel Arts Isle will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012.
Special thanks go to my assistant, Angelstar3 Stonewall, and my partner, Vincent Merricks, for their staunch support, especially during my illness and absence.
The Circe's Circle of Sounds group, which is over 4,000 members strong, will remain intact, and artists/poets can use it to announce their shows anywhere after February 20.
Warmest regards, Circe Broom"

I have been a regular patron at the Laurel Arts sim during the last four years of my existence in SecondLife. In the beginning with Ars and later alone. We especially made it a habit to visit there for Elfay Pinkdot´s "Coffee and Pajamas Jazz Show". I have met countless of sweet, wonderful and supportive friends there who have become dear to me.

Today Sunday 12, 2012, 10 AM - 12 PM SLT, Elfay will bring us the last Coffee and Pajamas at Circe´s Sunset Jazz Club. So dig out your PJ´s from your overloaded Inventories and

BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!

Sweden - Closed Due to Summer

When I was at Elfay´s show this weekend I was chatting a bit with my friend Diana as usual. Somehow we got to the subject of vacations and I understood that she was puzzled by the fact that I - being a lawyer - could take a five week vacation.

The easiest way to explain this is to point to the fact that Sweden for a large part of it´s modern history (1936-1976, 1982-1991 and 1994-2006) has been ruled by the Social Democratic Party of Sweden.

One of the main pillars of the party´s ideology has been "the welfare of the people" in all aspects of life. They are thus rightfully considered the main designers of what once was "The Welfare State" where the citizens were always under the benevolent protection of the state, from the cradle to the grave.

This welfare state began crumbling in the 1990´s and is since then slowly being dismantled, piece by piece, to expose the surprised Swedes to the market forces.

However one of the benefits created that has not yet been removed is the Holidays Act. According to this law all employees are entitled to a holiday whether employed by the hour or the CEO of a company. (No employed person is excluded, even the Swedish Prime Minister takes a vacation.) Everyone who is employed is entitled to a minimum of five weeks vacation, four of these weeks they are entitled to receive continuously during the period June-August.

During a period of about six weeks (July - mid August) Sweden comes close to a complete standstill. Only the most essential services are maintained and the workforce of any given company is reduced to half - or less - it´s usual size, some companies even choose to shut down completely for a month.

I think one of the main reasons we Swedes accept these conditions is that we ourselves wouldn't want to lose our summer vacation.

Summer is important to us Swedes, just saying!

Baby Boom

Every female avatar in SecondLife - except Millimina and Diana - seem to be expecting at the moment if we choose to believe certain Swedish blogs.

What´s even more amazing is that the grapevine is now going haywire with rumors alleging that the Much Honored Bock McMillan, laird of Southern Charm, is also "in the family way". It is not yet known who the father is if the rumors are true.

Asked for a comment on the rumors Mr. Wild Zepp, the McMillan household spokesman, merely responded with; "Pffffffffft!".

"Anything is possible in SecondLife" as the official slogan goes. Our paparazzi´s are on the job to secure evidence.

Happy Rezday Diana!

My dear friend - and the personal attorney of the McMillan household -  Diana "Legs" G celebrates her first rezday in SecondLife today.

Legs is a warm, brilliant and amazing woman, I am fortunate to count her among my friends.

Have a wonderful rezday and hope to see you at the auction, Legs! Don´t forget we have a bidding war planned!

Fourth Rezday Party Pictures - UPDATED!!!

Sorry for the delay with this post but I have a real life too ya know...

The pictures are mostly the gracious gifts of my dear friends Diana (surname withheld) and Joetonight Starship, one was stolen from my darling sister Millimina Salamanders blog and a few are my own.

All did not get captured on film by either Joe or Diana and they had - alas - both left us before the hunkalicious men from Club Erotes joined us. At a fast glance I can also see we missed taking pictures of Stirred, and many, many more but we were over 35 avatars a good while so...If anyone has more pictures and don´t mind sharing them with me, please send them to me!

Update 11 PM SLT (7 AM CET the next morning): I have now added a few pictures stolen from Apmel Goossons blog, that include Adrina, Sarco, Svessa, Vanadis, Chade, Volker and ush...

Update 10:30 AM (6:30 PM CET); I have added a picture of Apmel´s buttock cleavage on his insistence and for your comparison.

My deepest thanks again to everyone who came and to everyone who could not come due to real life or other reasons, but most of all to my wonderful family who convinced me this was a good idea and arranged it all with the wonderful surprise performances by DJ Andrey (my BIL and the other rezday boy), Strum Diesel, Bara Jonson, legendary DJ Sarco and last but in no way least Apmel Goosson for showing cleavage.
