How To Make A Quilt

I found the instructions that Jace Byrne, the holder of the previous quilts, sent out concerning how to make a quilt in SecondLife. The following are essentially the instructions he gave.

Be creative and don't worry about people judging your work! Focus on your feelings and relations to the person the panel is for.

Set everything to full perms. This is VERY important. quilts have been lost over the years due to being restricted perms.

You should put the name of the person in the object's name (i.e "Ars Northmead Quilt") and write a little something in the description too. A notecard giver script is also acceptable.

There are two main ways to make a panel. 

• Make an image in Photoshop or GIMP or whatever you use for textures. Upload the image and put it on the top face of a flattened cube. That's it, you're done. 
• The other way is to use the build tools to construct a panel in 3D. 

 Specifications

1. PG only, please don't make panels that can only be displayed on a Moderate or Adult sim.
2. Panels can be up to 12 prims. They must be linked together. The root prim should be the base or frame of the panel.
3. Maximum size is X: 2 m, Y: 2m, Z: 1m. (If you go over a little in height that's OK, we just don't want things to tower over other panels.)
4. No scripts (Notecard giver or one rotation are acceptable), particles, animations, spinners  etc. Absolutely NO glow or sound.
5. Set permissions to full perms (copy/mod/trans), to do so make sure you have checked all three boxes under Next Owner Can in the edit window.
6. You can use the notecard to say something about your friend. If you do, say "click for notecard" in the description.

Now you know how to create your quilt, so you can get  it done in preparation for a hoped for permission from the Second Pride Board of Directors to go ahead with the suggestion I made in the post titled A New "Names Project" for Second Pride. 

Do not, I repeat not, send anything to the Second Pride Avatar until we have been given permission to do so by the SP board.

Remembering Jace

Yesterday friends of Jace Lewis were reached by the devastating news that he had passed away on Monday. Today a memorial place for him has been erected at Zeus by his family there.

If you wish to pay your respects this is the landmark to the Jace's memorial (SLurl).

My thoughts at this time go to Jace's family and close friends in first life and SecondLife.

SP2012 - Day 1

The first day of Second Pride 2012 I visited the minor party, which had a line-up of great DJs, starting with DJ Thorn (Andel), followed by DJ ItalianBear and finishing with DJ InsyX (Piranha).

People were coming and going the whole evening, but mostly it was a good sized crowd of men and women throughout the evening. Some old friends and acquaintances and some new. Most seemed happy to be there and the talk in local chat was really fun and flowing. Here are some pictures from the event.

The Party has Started - Enjoy

Rejoice for - in spite of the Rapture - We are still here, We are still queer and you still need to get used to having us in your face.

So as you cannot beat us why not join in on our celebrations this week?

Some pictures from the events yesterday. I am sorry to say there was no Parade, it had to be canceled for various reasons, but listening to Mapoo Little sing was a great party starter. The crowd went wild for this little woman with the huge voice, of course she pleased us with some gay anthems but at an occasion like this it is fitting

It's great to see you all here today!

This statue was a joint effort of the Board of Directors of Second Pride 2011 - specifically Tylendel Falconer, Jace  Lewis, and Nanaki Raymaker. It was designed to be seen clearly from a distance, and across several regions, and therefore uses conventional prims for the flame instead of particles.

The two most obvious symbols of the GLBT community have been used - the rainbow, as well as black and pink triangles.

Inverted pink triangles were used by the Nazis in concentration camps to identify and shame homosexuals. This symbol, which was used to label and shame, has been embraced by the gay community as a symbol of pride.

Starting out as a late-night mission in protective darkness, the giant Pink Triangle has been annually placed atop Twin Peaks - a mountain in the center of San Francisco - during every Pride Parade weekend since 1995.

The rainbow flag and it's colors has been revised over the years, each color representing a positive attribute of our shared existence, hot pink for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, turquoise for magic/art, indigo/blue for serenity/harmony and violet to represent spirit. However the most widely used flag now is the one designed by Gilbert Baker (six colors).

 In November 1978, San Francisco's gay community was stunned when the city's first openly gay supervisor, Harvey Milk, was assassinated. Wishing to demonstrate the gay community's strength and solidarity in the aftermath of this tragedy, the 1979 Pride Parade Committee decided to use Baker's flag.

This statue represents the upward progress of all sexualities and gender identities - after all - no civil rights movement has *ever* failed, as well as a symbol of hope that one day we will shine as one light, and speak with one voice.

We've got Mr. Gay 2011 and Ms. Gay 2011 here to light the flame atop this statue. A man who needs no introduction, Regi Yifu is an absolute powerhouse of creativity, generosity, and has been a source of inspiration for the GLBT community.

Marge Beaumont has served on the 2011 board of Second Pride as our Treasurer, and has worked tirelessly in her role. She is both a source of inspiration and endless humor, and I feel very honored to consider her a friend.
