The GA Summerfest 2016 Starts Tomorrow

The GA SummerFest starts tomorrow Friday June 3rd and will continue through Sunday June 12th with the theme "The Summer of Love".

The SummerFest will be opened by an inaugural speech by the GA Lead Weylin Vale at 4PM SLT at the festival sim (SLurl).

After the speech the opening party will follow at 5PM SLT with two live singers, Samm Quendra and Clyde Barrow, and after them the Romanum and Blue Ball parties.

Secret message to Tomais, should we perhaps drop our search for the perfect male mesh head temporarily to set up the Bock in SecondLife thing-a-magee...?

Hand-to-Hand Combat

In the presence of Emperor Stephanus and Praetor Gambit (above) a gladiators tournament was held at Romanum yesterday.

The event was a part of the ongoing GA SummerFest and in celebration of the Gay Archipelago's seventh anniversary.
I visited the event with my husband Tomais and our friend Vexsten, we were joined by our friend Rusty (above). The rest of the audience was not large, but extremely enthusiastic.
The Rectoris Gladiatoris Austen functioned as a master of ceremonies of sorts. He explained the proceedings to those of us who were not well acquainted with such events.

There were six gladiators present. They were paired of to give us three near-mortal fights.
After those fights the three winners of the first jousts got to meet each other in a free for all.
The last man standing and winner of this fight was the gladiator Gaius (above), at least in my opinion, although the Rectoris Gladiatoris declared that the victory was shared by Gaius and Tybalt. It is true that Gaius lost consciousness immediately after he had beaten Tybalt, but as far as I could see he was somehow defeated by a gladiator who wasn't among the three finalists.
Gaius receives his due reward (above) by getting a kiss from the gladiator Januarius, whom he had defeated in the final.

The Rectoris Gladiatoris then called in all six gladiators, brought in three lionesses (who did not wish to be photographed) and joined in himself in a final fight, with all against all and the lions.
The winner of the final fight was the gladiator Tybalt (below), this time fairly and squarely knocking all of the rest unconscious and killing some lionesses too.

Panem et Circenses

Today is the third day of the GA SummerFest 2014 and - among other things happening all day long - the Empire of Romanum will give us all a treat with a gladiators tournament.
The title of this post translated to English means "bread and games" and refers to the practice in ancient Rome of providing free wheat to Roman citizens as well as costly circus games and other forms of entertainment as a means of gaining political power.

BYOB ("bring your own bread") and the games will be supplied by Romanum. This event will be a lot of fun, I am sure.

As always when visiting role playing sims dress accordingly and respect the rules (although they may be a bit more lenient about them at this time).

I hope to see you all there!

Additional Feedback

I already filed my response to the survey a while back, but today I sent in an addition to my previous responses, as I had come to the conclusion that I had not been specific enough in my earlier response. So today I filed the following addition.

What did you like best about the festival?
  1. The lesbians were back - and I love it!
  2. The parade is back - and I love it!
  3. The wonderful serene Chapel
  4. The beautiful builds
  5. The event was extremely well organized with little or no confusion, the board members and their assisting teams did a splendid job.
  6. Three sims worked great! The smaller area kept the space close and increased the chances of running into old friends and acquaintances.
  7. The sims were restarted every day which mostly kept lag at a reasonable level.
What suggestions do you have for the 2015 Second Pride Festival?
  1. I would like to see a new beginning for the Names Project, i.e. the so called AIDS Quilts. It is not acceptable that whether or not donated quilts are displayed or not is dependent on an individuals whims or requirements. This is something that Second Pride can and should do for the LGBT community.
  2. Try to get a few more live acts, I know there are singers and musician who would love to take part.
  3. I always loved the plays that Marcus Steeplechase and his buddies enacted during Pride, it would be wonderful if we could get something like it back.
  4. Poetry readings perhaps?
Please don't get me wrong, I love the DJ's and the parties but options should be provided to a greater extent, the community is diverse in it's needs.

Darn! I forgot to mention that I missed the combats between Gay Gor and Romanum from last years Pride. The people participating in that were a fun crowd and I had a great time watching and chatting there last year.

Overall, the Festival of 2014 was the best ever!

Romanum IV Anniversary - March 21--23

I first encountered the men of Romanum at the Second Pride Festival 2013, at least in their role playing garb and proper circumstances. I have never visited the fighting sims in SecondLife, other than on brief shopping expeditions. When I saw that there was a fight scheduled between the Gladiators of Romanum and warriors of the Scimitar clan of Gay Gor I knew I had to watch it.

It was an interesting experience and I found the men of both groups to be quite pleasant and civil to be around, which was not what I had imagined at all.

When I got this press release through Gay Archipelago I knew I would want to help them celebrate, so I thought I should share it with you all because perhaps you would like to do so too. They seem to have a full program with many interesting events scheduled, among them one caught my interest more than the others "The Slut Orgy at the Baths (Orgy Party)" on Saturday. I don't know why there are two times set for that party, but perhaps they switch the sluts at halftime and bring in a fresh batch or something.

I will add the landmarks as soon as I can.
"Romanum celebrated it's grand opening 4 years ago and we will now celebrate our IV anniversary.

Romanum is an ancient role play world especially for gay and bisexual men. Come and celebrate this major milestone with us!"

Forget Yesterday

Some days are just crappy, whatever one does or tries everything just turns out wrong or goes sour. Yesterday I was in a peculiar mood. Not tired, angry or sad or anything seriously bad, just edgy, restless and oversensitive. A remark here or there would just get me me in a foul state.

I avoided Butch all evening because he pissed me off with a remark he made early on - or perhaps didn't make. All the while I was ashamed for doing so because he had every right saying what he did or didn't say.

Another guy made a remark about me at The Grenouille Inn on the Yadkin sim, something to the effect that "Now Bock is going to do his usual faggoty thing", which for some reason totally set me off. So much so that if he had been in the same room I would probably have kicked him in the balls, instead I thought what the hell and put on my red Prestige boots from Bax while dancing on a bar counter for his benefit, forgetting that there are always cameras in SecondLife. When I later saw that Helene had posted pictures of me in my Prestige boots on Facebook, that pissed me off too...

Today I am laughing at it all and wondering to myself what was going on. I'm leaving that behind and will tell you instead what was good about yesterday, although I sadly didn't take any pictures.

The good things yesterday included, but were in no way limited to,
  • A concert by the Swedish band KAOS that made its debut is SecondLife. It was a totally WOW-ing experience and I am looking forward to hearing more from them in the future. (For more information about them, videos etc. please visit their website KAOS).
  • Having a long talk with Dej and sensing that we could get along fine despite the fact that we were both in a crabby mood.
  • Visiting Romanum during their ongoing Wine Festival and finding a place to purchase new togas.
  • Re-friending Loch Wolfhunter, he has been away for awhile and had been culled from my friends list as one of those lost to first life. Fortunately he was a good sport and did not hold my culling against me.
  • Visiting the ongoing Boystown Pride.
  • Installing my new Dennis-dances from HUMANOID in my dance-HUD and loving them.
As Nina Simone sings "It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me... and I'm feeling good!"

Romanum vs, Gor

I never visit the fighting sims in SecondLife. The only times I have been to Romanum or any of the Gor sims have been for shopping purposes of some sort. When I saw that there was a fight scheduled between the Gladiators of Romanum and warriors of the Scimitar clan of Gay Gor I knew I would have to watch it.

The arena was a beautiful build and it was interesting to look at all the hunky warriors and gladiators and their entourage. They were all in different degrees of nudity. Only two were completely naked, one was a  Roman senator and the other a Roman slave (I think), both lacked penises for some strange reason that I could not understand. However Marcellias suggestion that they had been castrated may have been correct.

I did not understand much of the fighting, but it was an interesting scene to do some people-watching at.
