New Header for Late Winter 2017

Bock in SecondLife's art director, Tomais Ashdene, has made a new header for the the late winter season of 2017.

Well, actually my husband made it for Valentine's Day, but I love it so much that I've decided to keep it until I switch to the spring header.

Please don't be disturbed by the drunk youngster in the picture, he survived the experience and has now taken an oath of abstinence. We'll wait and see how long that lasts...

Emergency Aid

New York City is having one of it's coldest winters ever and it seems never-ending. This video is posted to help keep my brother Dej warm and to remind him that spring and summer are on their way.

Spring Forward 2015

On Sunday March 8, 2015 (today), at 2 AM the United States - except for Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Nation Community) and Hawaii - and thereby SecondLife Time (SLT) also started Daylight Saving Time (DST) and "spring forward" the clocks to 3 AM.

The following four weeks will mean a period of total time confusion in SecondLife before Europe and Australia catch up.

Europe "springs forward" on Sunday March 29, 2015, while Australia (in the southern hemisphere) "fall back" on Sunday April 5, 2015.

...and then all will be well for awhile until the fall, when we go trough the opposite confusion.

Bock in SecondLife is - as always - here to aid you and has a clock with the correct SLT time in the right column for your convenience.

UPDATE: Edited according to my friend Petr's correct observation in his comment below!

The Revamped Waterfall

Spring arrived early at Southern Charm this year. There are several reasons for this. one is of course the ongoing man-made climate change, another that all the inhabitants living on the sim were sick and tired of winter and a third that we wanted to prepare the sim for the upcoming changes in the big landscaping project known as Project -15.

So in preparation for the new plants to come out so that my landscaper, the brilliant Samuel Fallen of Lytton & Fallen, can continue his work I let my in-house landscapers do some work on the waterfall.
Tomais and Butch, took on the work with great passion and seemed to enjoy the collaboration a lot. The result is absolutely stunning and the new waterfall is a small masterpiece.

We Welcome Spring - Desperately

Today is the last day of April, a.k.a. Walpurgis Night. On this day we in Sweden welcome spring - whether it has arrived or not. Tomorrow it is spring, whatever the temperature may be outdoors!

Update: The Danish Meteorological Institute (which is usually more correct on my local weather than the Swedish one) revealed today that it has been the coldest April in 25 years.

This evening many of us will light bonfires to chase away the cold. We will also utter incantations and do whatever else may be needed to exorcise and expel all and any remnants of winter. All our winter clothes go to storage and the spring clothes are dragged out It's all an old heathen tradition of course which has been christianized along the way for it to get the blessing of religion.

Spring is unusually late this year. In the far south of Sweden, where I live, we can usually expect spring at least in the beginning of April, but not so this year. Everything seems to be delayed by four to six weeks.

Luckily I have SecondLife, so whatever the temperature may be outdoors in my first life I am going to start wearing my shorts in-world. The populace have been deprived the joy of seeing my wonderful bare legs for too long already.

Spring Is Here

According to the Swedish meteorological definition spring arrives when the daily average temperature is rising and between 0 and 10 degrees Celsius (i.e. 32 - 50 degrees Fahrenheit) for seven consecutive days.

Well today was the eight day so officially spring has now arrived to the southernmost parts of Sweden, even if it is difficult to believe when you feel the cold winds sweeping around you every time you step outside for a cigarette. It´s not at all cozy and you hate the day you started smoking.

I am beginning to believe there is a conspiracy between nature, the Swedish legislators and my employer and they are all trying to send me a message of some kind...

At times like this it is good to have a second home to log in to. I keep Southern Charm on a sort of eternally mild summer, not too hot and not too cold and always with a slight breeze. Simply wonderful!
