Not Just A Pretty Face

Guyke Lundquist, the Prince of Paradijs, is my son and heir, my pride and joy and my longest lasting friend in SecondLife. I love him to bits!

The first thing everyone notices about my Guykechen is his stunning beauty, the second is his devastating charm and the third is his astute sense for fashion. The man shines brightly even in the presence of the many other luminaries on the SecondLife sky of male beauty.

What people don't know, and rarely take the time to notice (overwhelmed as they are with his dazzling presence), is that Guyke has the full package. Besides his good looks he also has a curious and an inquisitive mind which is stacked with knowledge about just about anything one needs to know and also an emotional depth and concern for his fellow man.

Almost every time I am with Guyke he teaches me something new. Just the other day he taught me something I had never even heard about. For instance, did you know that there is an easy way for those of us using the Firestorm viewer to reach a certain height in the skies above you? Well Guyke did and it is an easy trick which is extremely useful for me as I now have a lot of my landscaping stored at 1.000 meters above Southern Charm.

You use the Firestorm feature "Go To Height" by simply typing "gth 1000" in your nearby/local chat and hey presto you are at the designated height. Going down you just do the opposite, type "gth 25 (or whatever your level you prefer)" and down on the ground you are. Nifty, isn't it?

Another thing he taught me is that I can mix the sound levels for Skype, Firestorm and whatever so I get the combination of the levels that I prefer. You do that simply by clicking the loudspeaker symbol in the bottom right and then go to "Mixer" to choose the settings you want with the sliders. Hey presto! For some of you geeky guys this is probably really basic, but for me it's news.

Call for Festival DJ’s & Entertainers

This came to me via a press release by the Second Pride Festival.

Thank you for your interest in DJ-ing at one of the largest LGBTQ Community Events held in Second Life.

This year the Festival runs between June 14th – June 23rd.

Kharissa Indigo, the Second Pride Events Director, is in the process of filling in the schedule for all the Events and is looking forward to adding your name.

Attached is a note card for you to fill out if you would like to be scheduled to play at the 2013 Festival. Every DJ will be getting the same note card. DJ’s will be scheduled on a first-come first-serve basis after the opening and closing events and events by our sponsors have been scheduled. (In the event a sponsor does not have a preferred DJ for their time slot, a DJ will be provided for those sponsored time slots at the discretion of the Second Pride Festival Event Director).

Please make sure to either submit the online form below or send an in-world note card to Kharissa Indigo to be scheduled for a set during the festival.

If you know of any DJ’s that need a note card, please feel free to pass on this information.

IMPORTANT:

DJ's are each allowed a single 2-hour time slot, after all the DJ’s have been scheduled – remaining time will be scheduled to DJ’s wishing for additional time slots. This makes it fair for all DJ's who want to play at Pride.

INFORMATION ON TIPS AND DONATIONS:

This is a fund raiser and charity event for Second Pride.

DJ’s should encourage donations to Second Pride and should direct those donations to the Second Pride Kiosks.

TIP JARS will be assigned to DJ’s at the Pride Festival and will be a 50/50 split. When you log into your assigned tip jar, your profile picture will be displayed.

Suddenly...

"Moon Above Wheatfield" by Gary Hamburgh
Suddenly on Sunday afternoon I was hit with the worst case of the common cold I can remember ever having.

It started with three heavy sneezes. Next thing it was as if my head exploded with the worst headache ever and I felt my sinuses filling up with snot and my chest was congested. The sound of my coughing is terrible and woke me up several times during the night.

Although I felt sicker than a wildebeest I dragged my carcass to work this morning because I had an important meeting in the morning. The rest of the day I avoided close contact with everyone and just medicated with paracetamols to keep the fever at bay and had rolls of toilet paper in every pocket so I could blow my nose every 5-10 minutes. The tip of my nose is red and raw by now, not a pretty sight.

Suddenly yesterday I also felt a tremendous insecurity overwhelming me when I was going to write a post about my new tipping practices in the Swedish venues in SecondLife. After being criticized recently for intimidating others with my "overly generous" tips I started tipping only small amounts in the tip jars and the rest of my tip directly - on the body part of my choice - to the person I was tipping. It´s a hassle and I don´t know how long I can keep it up.

On that subject I was going to tell the story about what Ars once told me when I asked him what the correct tip was. He said - of course - that there is no correct tip, you tip as much or little as you wish and can afford. Ars also stressed the fact that it is essential that the receiver should graciously acknowledge all tips whatever the size. "Even a very small amount could be all the money that person has earned after hours of camping or all they have."

I know why I got insecure and I have claimed I didn't give a damn, but somehow I did anyway. It could of course also be a sign of my weakened state brought on by this uncommon cold.
