Zesentwintig Weer

"The cuteness that is Guyke"™
In Flanders, the northern part of Belgium, they have an age-old tradition among the Flemish people which reminds me very much of SecondLife.

The people of Flanders speak a Belgian variety of Dutch called "tussentaal". In the local culture and language no one is ever recognized as being older than twenty-six, any age after that is referred to as "zesentwintig weer" (twenty-six again).

Today we celebrate the twenty-sixth again birthday in first life of The cuteness that is Guyke™, the wonderful, charming and loving man that brought so much happiness to Ars and my life. (Well - to be quite honest - some grey hairs and teeth grinding also but lets not delve in that on this festive day)

Gefeliciteerd met je zesentwintigste weer verjaardag, mijn liefste Guykechen!
Have a wonderful birthday, love you loads and bunches!

(...and of course there really is no such tradition, I just made it up!)

The Hollywood Style Party

The birthday boys, Ziggy & Holter
When the new lovers Ziggy and Holter discovered that both of them had a first life 24th birthday coming up they decided to throw a bash in their new house on the Pure sim.

Unfortunately I arrived a little late due to teleportation issues but I understand the party started as it was meant to go on, with the two birthday studs arriving to the party on their Harley Davidson motorbikes and crashing them both into the swimming pool. What a start and the party escalated from there.

Lars Kaz and DJ Shep
DJ Shep supplied the great music with his hunk Larz Kaz as a beautiful appendage.

Scott and Garcin in the back with Thorn and Hurtful in front
As could be expected the supply of beautiful gay men was abundant and there were even three good looking women present.

People came and went and came back all the time I was there so its rather difficult to say how many where there.

Regi Yifu always stylish
Alas I could not stay longer than midnight (my time) as I was working the day after, but I suspect that more guys came in after I had left.

I had a really fun time and am sure that goes for the others there also.

More pictures from the party can be seen on Ziggy´s blog Ziggy On The Edge Of Second Life

An Honorary McMillan

On this day H.R.H. Wild Zepp, spokesman for the McMillan household made this declaration.
"The Much Honored Bock McMillan, Laird of Southern Charm and prince of Cascade Falls etc., etc. today wishes you all a very merry Christmas.
To celebrate the day the laird has decided to name an honorary McMillan. As this is a very special privilege which grant the receiver the full rights to wear the family colors at any occasion he or she chooses and thereby becoming in effect an ambassador for clan McMillan it is no joking matter (although no voting rights or other clan privileges come with this honor).
After due consideration the laird has however found a very worthy recipient and has therefor on this day bestowed the honor upon his Sergeant at Arms sirhc DeSantis. Sirhc is well deserved of this honor due to his support in times of need and distress and for his successful efforts to keep the peace at his and his dear wife units premises and ever where else in SecondLife.
It so happens that it is also said persons birthday in first life today, but that has had no influence on this decision by the laird and is merely coincidental.
This kitten is courageous and kind and can go to venues and sims to which no other McMillans have dared to venture in many months. He will carry our offer of peace and goodwill to all!
An order will today be placed with the tartan maker extraordinaire of SecondLife mistress Elle74 Zaftig of the Bellissima establishment. Delivery of the tartan with full regalia should be expected as soon as the holidays are over.
All hail to our newest brother sirhc DeSantis-McMillan!"

The gathered McMillans cheer jubilantly and echo Wild´s final cry and start chanting at the top of their voices, "All hail sirhc, all hail sirhc newest brother of the McMillans" and "Three cheers for brother sirhc, hip-hip Hooray, hooray, hooray!!!"

Happy Birthday, Mr. President!

Today is the 50th birthday of Barack Obama, the president of the United States of America.

I would like to start with wishing you a very happy birthday, Mr. President, and may you have many, many more!

Then I would like to stick my neck out - and prepare to get it chopped off - as I am now going to comment on conditions in a country of which I am not a citizen.

My excuse for doing this is firstly that I am Swedish, we have always been great at telling everyone else how they should run their countries. I will flatly admit that Sweden has taken some steps along the American highway, but luckily we haven't gone as far down the path yet. We have politicians here also with an overconfidence in the markets ability to solve problems in an acceptable way.

Secondly it is that I am totally flabbergasted when I hear that everyone is disappointed with Obama´s policies, the poor, the African Americans, the elderly, the sick, the gays and the workers, the trade unions and so on ad infinitum. Obama has not done enough it is said, he has not spoken out for this or for that position and he hasn't fulfilled the promises he made when he was running for president.

Thirdly it is that I, my countrymen, all Europeans and the whole world economy is dependent on the American state and it´s economy functioning well. From afar I must say that the only thing that seems to run effectively is the American military and the pornographic industry.

Politics is the art of the possible, ladies and gentlemen, and I must remind you that the Americans voted a majority of Republicans into Congress two years after Obama´s election, thus effectively making him a "lame duck". We have all seen and heard the Republican party of the U.S. reviling and constantly working again him. Most recently in the budget-crisis where they effectively held a loaded gun to the presidents head while pushing him against the wall. In fact it was not only Obama and the Democratic party of the U.S. standing there, it was the whole world economy and we all watched in awe to see how far they would push it. The whole world is dependent on the American economy

It is extremely strange to acquire some small insights into how the American political system works or doesn't work. For a Scandinavian and European there seems to be a "Friedmanesque" overconfidence in "the (holy) market" and "less government" solving all problems.

In my mind every civilized country - and especially the richest, most talented country in the world should at least take care of its poor, its sick, its young and its elderly. It is not possible to ask the market to take care of this without government regulation and without setting acceptable standards of what society wishes the market to achieve.

I wish you a wonderful day, Mr. President, you have your work cut out for you tomorrow and in the foreseeable future. I also hope you get four more years as president, because in my mind - and I think in most Europeans - you are the best thing that happened to American politics for a long time. And for the world.

Looking at the alternatives that are proclaiming themselves as candidates for the presidency in 2012 I get terrified.

Yes you can, Mr. President!

(P.S. I may delete most of this post because on second thought I do not think the ramblings of a gay, middle aged Swede will be to any benefit for Obama, it´s just me venting...)

Another Teddybear for My Babe

On April 21st many years ago the boy child was born that that later in life became the wonderful man behind the avatar Ars Northmead in SecondLife.

In both of his lives this amazing man was intrigued, fascinated and besotted with teddy bears, any size, color or variety. He simply loved them all.

My Ars real life sisters have told me that when they emptied his house they actually found a whole room filled with teddy bears.

Love you always, babe!
