An Exceptionally Wonderful Man

Butch Diavolo has been a good friend of mine for many years now.

Butch is also a squatter on my homesim and is appointed as the Royal Gardener of the sim. (Although truthfully he hasn't been building or beautifying much (except his own plot) the last year, but he has been busy having a love life and taking care of himself.)

I know Butch as a kind, intelligent, warm hearted, level headed, everso faithful, amusing and highly sarcastic man, who always tries to help out if he is able. The only thing I have found lacking is his lovelife and his - sometimes - worrying choices where men and partners are concerned.

Yesterday I decided to adopt him as a son, and he agreed (Let's see how long that will last...) to defer to me before entering into any future partnerships. Any prospective partner will first be vetted by me - and my swarms of spies all over the Internet and in SecondLife - before being partnered. Linden Lab has been notified of this requirement and have agreed to assist in any way possible.

Fun thing though, through other familial ties of both my sons Butch and Pook, Butch will now be both Pook's brother and his grandmother. SecondLife families are a seriously messed up thing. However, as Pook's "pappa" I shall now be humming this tune to myself:

"For your brother is your grandma,
but your daddy don't know.
Woe, is me, shame and scandal in the family
Woe, is me, shame and scandal in the family"

(For clues to this musical reference please listen to Shawn Elliott in "Shame and Scandal in the Family")

The Devil Made Me Do It! (Possibly NSFW)

I haven't been to a place of ill-repute in forever, but yesterday I got an invitation from my friend Nikolai Warden to visit with him at his place of work at the strip club at Spurt Beach.

If you think Nikolai is waiting tables or tending bar at the place, you would be wrong. He is the cute stripper.
Nikolai had a show going on and there was a huge crowd of two watching him. One of them was the Royal Gardener and squatter Butch Diavolo and the other was Nikolai's beau Ken. A few other guys dropped in and out of the place from time to time during my visit.

Grumpy

I am grumpy this evening and am going to make it an early night.

A list of possible, but not extensive, reasons for my grumpiness
  1. I haven't seen my Tomais since the weekend
  2. DST ended on Sunday morning in Europe, and I have a DST-hangover (phrase coined by Butch Diavolo)
  3. I didn't sleep well last night
  4. I had a dentist appointment first thing this morning
  5. I haven't seen my Tomais since the weekend and he is teasing me with amazing pictures of himself
  6. I miss Tomais
  7. I'm hungry but it's after 8PM and I don't want to stuff my mouth this late
  8. I have a slight headache
  9. I wish every country on the Northern Hemisphere switched to and from DST at the same day
  10. I am bad at writing lists like these...
Good night, stay safe and hopefully I will see some of you tomorrow. If you should happen to see my lover in-world, please tell him that I am doing spectacularly well and don't seem to miss him at all!

Just Because I Can

Butch has always told me he sometimes does things "Just because I can!".

So as a good pupil who has been learning at my guru's feet, I am posting this .gif because it's so damn cute and simply because I can.

It also reminds me of an old Scanian saying "som koddarna på katten, bakefter", meaning "as the nards of the cat, behind". It is commonly used to complain about tardy reactions.

"The Journey to Me"

Today I have new addition to my blogrolls, both the SecondLife and the first life ones as it - perhaps - will straddle  both.

The blog is my dear friend and Royal Gardener, Butch Diavolo's latest attempt at blogging ("for the umpteenth time", as he himself says) The journey to me. I am certain I will enjoy reading Butch's thoughts and opinions and rants, and hope that you go too.

Coffee with His Unholiness

My royal consort Tomais and I were honored by a surprise visit today by His Irreverent Unholiness Butch Diavolo-Gracemount, the pope of Southern Charm.

The pope dropped in for some coffee, croissants, muffins and conversation about involuntary euthanasia with regards to Bashar Al Assad and Donald J Trump, our worries concerning the upcoming presidential election in the USA and Egyptian airplanes missing over the Mediterranean.

I Long for Tomorrow

December 22, 2015, is the date of the Winter Solstice this year.

In my first life hometown (Lund, Sweden) the length of the day between sunrise and sunset will be only 7 hours and 54 seconds.
After that the the days will keep on getting longer day by day until we reach the Summer Solstice on June 21, 2016, when the length of the day will be 17 hours, 32 minutes and 42 seconds.

Ten more bloody, glorious hours of daylight to sooth our souls! And we are starting our move towards it after tomorrow!

In SecondLife, Tomais and I decided not to change Southern Charm to winter this year. I couldn't stand the thought of darkness and cold in SL too and besides our Royal Gardener Butch Diavolo is indisposed at the time being.

Pride 2015 - Day 2, The Pride Parade

Franny Dean had outdone herself again. There were something like 73 floats and balloons/blimps in this years Pride Parade, some improved from last year but many new ones too.

The parade is always a highpoint for me, I simply love them! This year there were some initial problems to get the floats and blimps to rez due to lag, but nothing major or unexpected considering the amount of avatars that had assembled on the East and Main sims.

Sadly enough many of the floats went on by empty, so finally I could not control myself anymore but had to jump on. I am a hands-on guy and cannot stand and watch. Please don't bash me for only showing mostly pictures of myself in this post.
The dykes on bikes float
"It's raining men" with Helene
The marching band, with Helene and Garrett
The CanCan float with Franny & Helene
The Disco float, with Kahvy, & Butch
The Gay Meeting Point float, with Fordis, JJ, Hottie, OhioMike and Bambi
if I remember correctly...

"We Claim Macedonia", Laird Says

"Inconclusive? Inconclusive!?! Have you gone out of your minds? This was not at all the result I was expecting from you! How effing dare you!!! And you call yourselves my loyal and loving citizens?"

All the little princesses and princes and every other denizen of Southern Charm were startled by the outbreak of anger from the mansion, which disturbed the habitual peace and serenity of the sim. They all recognized the voice of the man who was otherwise known to be the most patient and gentle man in SecondLife and none of them had ever heard him this angry before.

Inside the great mansion on the hilltop a small congregation had assembled, consisting of the Prince Consort Tomais, The Royal Gardner Butch Diavolo-Ğrăçємσûηт, renowned geneticist, the twin-princes Angus Maldor-McMillan and Duncan Aycliffe-McMillan, both well known historians, and lastly - but not least - the cause of all the raucous, the laird himself.

The Much Honored Bock McMillan, laird of Southern Charm, prince of Cascade Falls, Sovereign Ruler of the Commonwealth of Southern Enchantment Region and Outer Territories and finally UN appointed Protector of the Mount Whitney sim in SecondLife, was now seated again after his outburst. His face was dark red and he had an annoyed frown on his face.

Tomais had moved in behind the laird and was slowly massaging his neck and shoulders, once in a while lovingly stroking the head, to calm the laird down. Tomais was seemingly unperturbed by the commotion but small beads of sweat could be seen on his beautiful forehead. The effects of Tomais labors were soon noticed as the laird's face got more relaxed and his body less tense, although he was still apparently displeased.

The other three in the room, stood scowling and scraping with their feet before their beloved laird, clearly apologetic for causing him such discomfort but still adamant in their conclusions.

A month earlier the laird had appointed the three of them to a secret committee with the purpose "to investigate whether or not the laird is a direct descendant of king Alexander III of Macedonia, a.k.a. Alexander the Great, and therefore can rightfully claim the crown of Macedonia". Although the laird had not said it, they had all three understood that the "or not" was merely inserted for pseudo-objective and decorative reasons. However, too much time had passed since Alexanders death in 323 BC and records of the lineage had not been kept, or had been lost, neither was there any known source from which DNA from the great king could be taken to securely establish a claim. Although there were certain DNA-markers and other fragmentary historical facts to support the lairds wishes the evidence was still too complex and inadequate for them to determine a direct and indisputable link between the two great men.

Suddenly everyone in the room could sense that the laird had calmed down and had reached a conclusion. "No matter", he said with a radiant smile, "this is politics, and politics is not about facts or evidence. Politics is about our desires, our wishes and what we want from the future!"

The laird rose from his seat with a loving and grateful smile to his consort and said, "To hell with Greece and that ridiculous country calling itself F.Y.R.O.M., let it be known that from this day we claim the crown of Macedonia. We will henceforth add to our titles 'pretender to the throne of Macedonia and dependent territories' "

A Looooooooooong Weekend

I was supposed to work half the day tomorrow, but I have taken the day off, Friday is a holiday and then there is the weekend, so now I get f-o-u-r whole wonderful days off from work! WooT!!!

And boy do I need it!

Since my last visit with my sweet Hungarian doctor a month ago I am under instructions to reduce my normal daily dose of antidepressants from 20 mg to 10 mg. I have done that quiet successfully without any major setbacks. I do however feel unfocused, tired and in need of more sleep and I also feel an increased melancholy. Although my doctor told me that I can increase the dosage to 15 mg or 20 mg if and when I feel the need, I still want to give the lower dosage a chance to stabilize so I can get a sense of how I will feel.

I am going to use the long weekend in first life to relax, rest, sleep more and visit with mother once or twice. My laziness during these four days will break every existing record, I can promise you that!

In SecondLife I am going to kick-start the immense "Organize Your Inventory"-project. It hasn't been done before during my more than eight years here, so it is really high time to take control of it and get it in some order. Every time my well organized hubby gets a glimpse of my Inventory he cries out in shock and amazement "You have everything stored in the root folder, that is crazy!" or something to that effect...

Furthermore I am hoping that Botanical will finally release it's new products so that we can finally finish Project -15, the landscaping project in the South-East corner of the sim. It already looks wonderful and I am extremely happy with the results so far of the toils of Samuel Fallen, of Lytton & Fallen, and Tomais Ashdene and Butch Diavolo, of Southern Charm.

Once the landscaping is all done Tomais and I are going to throw a party to celebrate. You will all receive an invitation through the blog and/or personally.

The Revamped Waterfall

Spring arrived early at Southern Charm this year. There are several reasons for this. one is of course the ongoing man-made climate change, another that all the inhabitants living on the sim were sick and tired of winter and a third that we wanted to prepare the sim for the upcoming changes in the big landscaping project known as Project -15.

So in preparation for the new plants to come out so that my landscaper, the brilliant Samuel Fallen of Lytton & Fallen, can continue his work I let my in-house landscapers do some work on the waterfall.
Tomais and Butch, took on the work with great passion and seemed to enjoy the collaboration a lot. The result is absolutely stunning and the new waterfall is a small masterpiece.

Praise Where Praise Is Due

So it seems I was mistaken in my assumption in my post on Monday The Amazing Samuel when I wrongly credited Samuel Fallen for the wonderful work that was done with some of my items.

Yesterday I received two messages. The first from Samuel on Facebook, denying he had created the installation. The second from Butch Diaviolo-Ğrăçємσûηт, telling me that he was sorry to burst my bubble, but that he was the one who had done the work.

Assuming is of course always wrong, I should have learned that by now, I am sorry for doing it and have yet again learned the lesson.

Thank you so much my dear friend and cranky but brilliant and sublime builder and interior designer, Butch. You are totally awesome!

By the way, I still think Samuel is darn amazing!

Project -15: May the Works Commence!

Yesterday I and my home-team met again with Samuel Fallen of Lytton & Fallen (L&F)  for further discussions and to see if we could seal a deal on the project. L&F consists of Samuel and his partner Spliff Lytton. The company provides services in interior design, landscaping and custom builds for SecondLife.

Although it is still winter on Southern Charm, the first touch of spring can be felt. It was a rather mild day yesterday so I decided to show some leg during the discussions. To be quite honest, that has been a highly successful tactic and has in hindsight landed me with more advantages than I would otherwise rightly deserve.
So with bare legs I, my royal consort Tomais and my royal groundskeeper Butch "Bj" Diavolo-Gracemount met with Samuel at the site. We had a very good discussion in which Samuel evidenced some qualities that I appreciate very much in my fellow humans. Samuel was receptive to our thoughts and ideas but was also outspoken and straightforward in his responses in a pleasant manner. He also has a no-nonsense attitude and strives for a realistic look in his designs.

I am happy to inform you that we sealed a mutually advantageous deal yesterday and that the work on the project will now begin.

After the meeting I was totally thrilled and excited, this is going to be so much fun!

No Shoes. No Shirt. No Service.

Yesterday we took a break from our worries - (Well OK, my worries) - concerning Project -15 and instead inaugurated the new drive-in movie theater over by the barn. We in this case were my Tomais, Butch and I.
Although the sign says that it's "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" that is showing now, we in fact watched "The Avengers" (because that is the only movie in my libarary so far), or most of it.

It was a bit nippy in the air still, but we had a good time listening to Butch's running commentary on what was happening on the screen, or his interpretation of it...

"Project -15" - The Before Pictures

As I have already told you, my dear readers, in my post "It's Time for A Change", I have decided on some exciting developments for Southern Charm.

Yesterday I and my advisers, my husband Tomais Ashdene and my groundskeeper Butch Diavolo, met with a professional landscaper. (Who turned out to be another old friend of mine, I really do need to make a list about what skills my friends have. More about in another post though!)

The landscaper we met with was Samuel Fallen of "Lytton & Fallen". Samuel took a look around the parcel and we discussed a few things that are important to me. He will hopefully get back to me soon with a cost estimate for the necessary works. If all goes well the work itself will hopefully start during the coming week.

Another good thing that I have decided, which came out of the discussion with Samuel, was to update all the vegetation on Southern Charm to season changing stuff from Botanical. In that way future season changes on the plants will be accomplished with a click on a HUD instead of the hassle it has been up until now.

Today I documented the project site to get some before-pictures. The new house has been temporarily placed and it's positioning may well be changed according to suggestions from Samuel.

It's Time for A Change

Those of you who have been following my blog may already have understood that major changes aren't really my forte. Or as my stepson Guyke bluntly tells me, "You don't like changes!"

I don't completely disagree with him, but I would hasten to add that my qualms with change are mainly on an emotional level. When I feel safe and loved I don't mind changes in other areas of my life one bit.

It's a new year and time for a new project at Southern Charm! Faithful readers may remember the last major change on the sim happened during the summer of 2013 when the old ugly house I had been living in since 2008 was torn down and a new modern house was erected in it's place.

This year I got a new house as a Christmas gift from Guyke, after he had carefully showed it to me twice beforehand. The first time I saw the villa I was adamant and told him I didn't like it at all and that I wasn't ready to go through the hassle of moving again so soon after the last rebuild. The second time I saw it I absolutely fell in love with it!

It is a classic french villa with large open spaces called Luton Manor and is made by Redgrave Houses & Homes.
My building team this time around consists of the royal consort and the royal groundskeeper, Tomais and Butch. The two have also benevolently agreed to advise me concerning decorating and other interior design niceties.

The old house has been emptied and taken into Inventory, the beautiful villa has been placed in a preliminary spot, I am awaiting advice on the definite placement from a landscaper who has been contacted, but not yet contracted. He will hopefully also be hired to help with the necessary work on the immediate surroundings of the villa.
