Happy 244th!
Happy 244th birthday, U.S.A!
Your country is so much more than the present president and the vile sycophantic trumpanzees. This too shall pass and you will recover. I still believe that, and so should you!
You were given a Republic, now work to keep it! Vote in November!
This Land Is Your Land
Words and Music by Woody Guthrie
As I went walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me an endless skyway;
I saw below me that golden valley;
This land was made for you and me.
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York island,
From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters;
This land was made for you and me.
I've roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts;
And all around me, a voice was sounding;
This land was made for you and me.
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York island,
From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters;
This land was made for you and me.
In the squares of the city, by the shadow of the steeple;
A great high wall there that tried to stop me;
A great big sign there said "Private Property"
But on the other side, it didn't say nothing;
That sign was made for you and me.
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York island,
From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters;
This land was made for you and me.
Nobody living can ever stop me,
As I go walking on Freedom Highway
Nobody living can make me turn back
This land was made for you and me.
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York island,
From the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters;
This land was made for you and me.

By the relief office, I saw my people;
As they stood there hungry, I stood there whispering;
This land was made for you and me.

No Se Me Quita
Two Puerto Rican hotties join up with a bunch of hot Puerto Rican women and one of the men gets the kiss of life à la Baywatch, sadly not from the other guy... but that's just my opinion.

Gay History 1978
Tell it Tom Robinson, tell it as it was! Tell us about the days when our "condition" was considered a disease and had an official number with the WHO and harassment and abuse was rampant.
Sing if you're glad to be gay
Lyrics & music by Tom Robinson
The British Police are the best in the world I don't believe one of these stories I've heard 'Bout them raiding our pubs for no reason at all Lining the customers up by the wall Picking out people and knocking them down Resisting arrest as they're kicked on the ground Searching their houses and calling them queer I don't believe that sort of thing happens here Sing if you're glad to be gay Sing if you're happy that way Pictures of naked young women are fun In Titbits and Playboy, page three of The Sun There's no nudes in Gay News our one magazine But they still find excuses to call it obscene Read how disgusting we are in the press The Telegraph, People and Sunday Express Molesters of children, corruptors of youth It's there in the paper, it must be the truth Sing if you're glad to be gay Sing if you're happy that way Don't try to kid us that if you're discreet You're perfectly safe as you walk down the street You don't have to mince or make bitchy remarks To get beaten unconscious and left in the dark I had a friend who was gentle and short He was lonely one evening and went for a walk Queerbashers caught him and kicked in his teeth He was only hospitalised for a week Sing if you're glad to be gay Sing if you're happy that way So sit back and watch as they close all our clubs Arrest us for meeting and raid all our pubs Make sure your boyfriend's at least 21 So only your friends and your brothers get done Lie to your workmates, lie to your folks Put down the queens and tell anti-queer jokes Gay Lib's ridiculous, join their laughter 'The buggers are legal now, what more are they after?' Sing if you're glad to be gay Sing if you're happy that way

The Killers - Land Of The Free
Composer-Lyricist: Brandon Flowers
Composer-Lyricist: Mahalia Jackson
Land Of The Free
Can't wipe the wind-blown smile from across my face It's just the old man in me Washing his truck at the Sinclair station In the land of the free His mother Adeline's family came on a ship Cut coal and planted a seed Down in them drift mines of Pennsylvania In the land of the free Land of the free, land of the free In the land of the free Land of the free, land of the free Land of the free, land of the free In the land of the free (I'm standing crying) When I go out in my car, I don't think twice But if you're the wrong color skin (I'm standing crying) You grow up looking over both your shoulders In the land of the free We got more people locked up than the rest of the world Right here in red, white and blue (I'm standing crying) Incarceration's become big business It's harvest time out on the avenue Land of the free, land of the free In the land of the free Land of the free, land of the free Move on there's nothing too see Land of the free, land of the free In the land of the free I'm standing crying, I'm standing crying So how many daughters, tell me how many sons Do we have to have to put in the ground before we just break down and face it We got a problem with guns In the land of the free Down at the border, they're gonna put up a wall Concrete and rebar steel beams (I'm standing crying) High enough to keep all those filthy hands off of our hopes and our dreams (I'm standing crying) People who just want the same things we do In the land of the free Land of the free, land of the free In the land of the free Land of the free, land of the free Land of the free, land of the free In the land of the free Land of the free, land of the free Land of the free, land of the free Land of the free, land of the free Land of the free, in the land of the free (I'm standing crying)

It's My Life - Bon Jovi
Music video by Bon Jovi performing "It's My Life" (2003)
This ain't a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for the faith-departed
I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You're gonna hear my voice
When I shout it out loud
It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life
This is for the ones who stood their ground
It's for Tommy and Gina who never backed down
Tomorrow's getting harder, make no mistake
Luck ain't enough
You've got to make your own breaks
It's my life
And it's now or never
Tomorrow's getting harder, make no mistake
Luck ain't enough
You've got to make your own breaks
It's my life
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life
You better stand tall when they're calling you out
Don't bend, don't break, baby, don't back down
It's my life
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
Songwriters: Richard Sambora / Jon Bon Jovi / Max Martin

"This Is My Fight Song"
There is too little fighting spirit in first life and SecondLife.
Get out there, fight for your rights and the rights of your brother and sisters all around the world.
If you feel complacent and comfortable, raise your head and look further than your nose. There are people still suffering in the world who are denied the rights you take for granted. Then think of the rights you have today, which may not be there tomorrow. Do you feel the winds changing and how it's getting colder again?
"I still got a lot of violence in me!"

Bruce Springsteen - "Joe Hill"
"Joe Hill"
A song by Alfred Hayes, Music by Earl Robinson
Alive as you or me
Says I, but Joe, you're ten years dead
I never died, says he
I never died, says he
In Salt Lake, Joe, by God says I
Him standing by my bed
They framed you on a murder charge
Says Joe, But I ain't dead
Says Joe, But I ain't dead
The copper bosses shot you, Joe
They killed you, Joe, says I
Takes more than guns to kill a man
Says Joe, I didn't die
Says Joe, I didn't die
Standing there as big as life
And smiling with his eyes
Joe says, What they forgot to kill
Went on to organize
Went on to organize
Joe Hill ain't dead, he says to me
Joe Hill ain't never died
Where working men go out on strike
Joe Hill is at their side
Joe Hill is at their side
From San Diego up to Maine
In every mine and mill
Where working med go out on strike
Says he, You'll find Joe Hill
Says he, You'll find Joe Hill
I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night
Alive as you or me
Says I, But Joe, you're ten years dead
I never died, says he
I never died, says he

Lesley Gore - You Don't Own Me
I heard a snippet of this song today, and since then I cannot get it out of my head. It's wonderful and haunting in its defiance, and being made in 1963 it must have been one of the earliest expressions of the women's liberation movement.

My Bro JJ, The Demigod
This little video reminds me of my sweet brother JJ's responses lately, when you praise him for his looks, acts, works or talents. He simply says, "You're welcome!" with the most conceited tone he can muster.
He picked up the habit somewhere during the last two weeks and is repeating it whenever he can. The only way you know for certain he is not that conceited is that he breaks down in giggles every time he does it...

It's A Good News Day
Today a dear friend got the wonderful news that he is a survivor of the scary Big C. I'm sure it is been a terrible and awful time living with the sword of Damocles hanging threateningly over his life. But it's time to leave that behind and rejoice, rejoice and rejoice!
Oh what a glorious and joyous day! Happy, happy day!

Happy 29th Birthday, Big Brother!
Today my big brother Dejerrity Mycron, The Lord Protector of The Laird's Delectable Body (short version, The Lord Protector), turns twenty-nine (again).
Happy first life birthday sweet man, love you, always!
This is Dej and my special song (with lyrics adapted by me), please enjoy!
[Dej]
You wait, little boy, on an empty stage
For fate to turn the light on
Your life, little boy, is an empty page
That men will want to write on
[Bock]
To write on
[Dej]
You are sixteen going on seventeen
Baby, it's time to think
Better beware, be canny and careful
Baby, you're on the brink
You are sixteen going on seventeen
Fellows will fall in line
Eager young lads and roues and cads
Will offer you food and wine
Totally unprepared are you
To face a world of men
Timid and shy and scared are you
Of things beyond your ken
You need someone older and wiser
Telling you what to do
I am seventeen going on eighteen
I'll take care of you
[Bock]
I am sixteen going on seventeen
I know that I'm naive
Fellows I meet may tell me I'm sweet
And willingly I believe
I am sixteen going on seventeen
Innocent as a rose
Bachelor dandies, drinkers of brandies
What do I know of those
Totally unprepared am I
To face a world of men
Timid and shy and scared am I
Of things beyond my ken
I need someone older and wiser
Telling me what to do
You are seventeen going on eighteen
I'll depend on you

This music video is famous for having been allowed to be shown on Indian television by an appeals tribunal despite it's depiction of a gay love story. The video was first banned from television in India by the censors for the ten second scene in which the two men appear on a bed dressed only in shorts.
