Pro-cras-ti-na-tion

I don´t understand whats going on with me at the moment. Although I long to immerse myself in SecondLife and get back in touch with my friends and family there and with my home things seem to come up to stop me all the time.

Today I had planned to log in. I had taken half the day of from work for a with my dental hygienist and my doctor and a few other essential errands and once they were done I was going to log back in and check the tings I know are waiting in my mailbox and see how the sim was doing and get back in touch with you all.

This time I was "only" going to take a short nap before getting in, the nap lasted six hours and I just woke up and am still tired- Other days, I feel like I have had an "overdose of people" and just cannot handle more social contact but just want to be alone, which is rather strange for me because usually I cannot get enough of friends or family.

Otherwise my first life is running smoothly. I have just signed up a team of cleaners that will drop by for three hours every third week, My parents are doing very well and are in love again - at 81 and 82 and after 62 years together - believe it or not. Is it strange that I am a creature of habit and long lasting relationships with such an inheritance?

Well, all I can say now is that I am now p-l-a-n-n-i-n-g to reenter SecondLife tomorrow Friday. Hopefully noting will interfere this time.

Thank You, Torro!

I read a book recommendation on my mate Torro Spyker´s blog The Bullring a few weeks ago. It was for the novel The Song of Achilles by the young American author Madeline Miller.

After reading Torro´s praise I immediately went to Amazon´s website and ordered the book. I got it a week ago but didn't start reading it until on Monday. And once I started I was captured by the wonderful story.

It is a rare experience for me these days to come across a novel that draws me in to the story in the way that this novel does. It is especially rare when I already know the basic story, in this case Homer´s renowned Iliad.

However, Madeline Miller succeeds in very convincingly recreating the ancient times when the Greek gods and demigods and the centaurs, amazons and sea-nymphs still walked on earth and interacted with humans. The novel depicts the lifelong love story of the hero of the Trojan wars Achilles and his lover Patroclus, from the time when they first meet as youths until their deaths and - believe it or not - even a bit after that.

Please don´t pay any attention to the publishers trying to stress how "sexy" it is - sex sells they say - but in this case it is a gross exaggeration. The sex in the novel is negligible and not at all as embarrassing as it sometime can be in bestsellers.

I thought the best way I could thank Torro for sharing this novel with me was to "pay it forward" and tell you all to read it.

The Verdict Against A.B.B.

On August 24 2012, the Oslo District court delivered it´s verdict in the case of the Norwegian mass-murderer and terrorist A.B.B. I was too preoccupied with my first life at the time to blog about it, so this is mainly for my own records as I have been following the case on the blog since the start..

The court found A.B.B. to be guilty of all charges, i.e.

  • acts of terrorism,
  • seventy-seven (77) counts of murder,
  • forty-two (42) counts of attempted murder etc.

The court also found A.B.B. to be criminally accountable for the crimes he had committed.

The court sentenced A.B.B. to a minimum of ten (10)years and a maximum of twenty-one (21) years of preventive incarceration, with the possibility of extensions with five years at a time until such time as he was seen to be fit to join society again.

A.B.B. immediately declared that he would not appeal the verdict, but the prosecutors asked for a two week period to consider an appeal. (As you may remember the prosecution primarily asked the court to find A.B.B. criminally insane and to sentence him to psychiatric care).

Hopefully the prosecutors decide not to appeal the verdict and this will have been the last we see and hear of A.B.B. forever.

Meet Mr. Clean

When I came home from work today my home was so sparkling and bright, that I now have to wear shades inside.
Mr. Clean is a brand name and mascot fully owned by Procter & Gamble. He is a symbol
of the cleaning industry much like the iconic "Marlboro Man" is to the tobacco industry.
,

The cleaning team has done an excellent job and I am now walking happily around my apartment and admiring and enjoying their fine work. I am ready for the gossiping craftsmen´s arrival tomorrow.

To avoid slipping back into the same pattern again I am also going to have a cleaning crew coming here every third week. The crews arrival - I know from previous experience - will force me to declutter the days before they come and conditions should be safely maintained at an acceptable level of quality.
