Women and Clothing

When will men, politicians and legislators (particularly the French and the Islamophobes) learn that it is a woman's fundamental right to decide over her clothing and over her own body?

If a woman wishes to wear a burkini to the beach, it is her prerogative to do so. Just as much as she has the right to wear a bikini or even to throw away her bikini-top.

These rights do not diminish if she happens to be a Muslim and chooses to cover her body at the beach.

Stay the hell away from woman's clothing and their bodies!

Should the men, legislators and politicians (particularly the French, right-wing, Christian and Islamophobic ones) not be able to contain themselves completely, perhaps they should legislate that Philippe Pradal, le maire de Nice, should be obliged to wear a burkini when he visits a beach. I am certain that he would be much more of an eyesore in regular swimwear.

Dame Edna - A Spectacular Show

My friend Othon and his dear friend Dame Edna welcomes us all to a spectacular diva show at The Oval Theatre Company (SLurl) on September 3rd, 5th, 7th or 9th, 2016, at 1PM SLT.

Othon has privately recommended that I purchase a big box of Depends before going, because - as he tells me - I risk wetting myself laughing.

Mmmm Mighty...

Singer/songwriter Steve Grand and bobsledder/rugger Simon Dunn, both out and proud,  prepare for an event which allows Steve to don his American football gear.

It could be the lighting I guess, but...

Usain's Treble-Treble

Usain Bolt, the Jamaican sprinter who turns 30 on Sunday, today accomplished his “treble-treble” goal, by winning three gold medals (100m, 200m and the 4x100m relay) in three consecutive Olympics; Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016.

Some of our heroes never disappoint. Thank you, Usain!

New Favicon - The Green Carnation

Before we got the Internet and all the hookup apps, gay men with faulty or spurious gaydar - much like myself - tried coming up with various clear but subtle and innocuous ways of identifying one another in the vast ocean of stunningly handsome heterosexual men.

Ever since Blogger started allowing "favicons" (a.k.a. website icon or bookmark icon) I have availed myself of it as a means of identifying this blog as gay operated. I have used various LGBT symbols to do this, first the λ-sign, then I moved on to the pink triangle.

When I started looking for a new favicon I came across an account about Oscar Wilde, the biggest and butchest poofter of us all.

It is said that he and his group of friends in the Victorian England of the 1890's wore a green carnation as an emblem.

It would seem - judging from a Wikipedia article on LGBT-symbols - that in doing so the group picked up a previous tradition among homosexuals in ancient Rome.
