Isolation of World Broken

Welcome back. people! I know you must have felt terribly isolated from me when my Internet crashed, but rest assured you are safe now and back in touch with me again.
The Southern Enchantment antiterrorist force is on the job and is rounding up the usual suspects of Mexicans, Arabs, and Muslims as we speak.

Prince Wild Zepp McMillan, the torturer extraordinaire, has been called home from his vacation at a gay resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, to oversee the interrogations, which are expected to be strenuous. In a brief interview, Prince Wild stated, "We shall get to the bottom of this conspiracy to deprive the World's access to his lairdship a.s.a.p."

Deep Sorrow, Frustration & Anger

The horrible news from London yesterday fills me with deep sorrow, frustration and anger.
My thoughts go to the families of the innocent victims and their families. This was yet an outrageous attack on a western democratic state to create havoc and incite hatred.

Do not for a moment let yourself be lured into believing that this has anything whatsoever to do with religious beliefs or cultural norms. It has as little to do with Islam and Muslims as the Crusades once had to do with fighting for Christianity or Christians.

No, these horrendous and vile acts of terror are all orchestrated to intimidate and disrupt the people of the western democracies as a part of a struggle for power, influence and money. The puppeteers behind this unprovoked violence are more likely to be found in Moscow, Peking and Pyongyang than in Baghdad, Beirut or Tehran.

Women and Clothing

When will men, politicians and legislators (particularly the French and the Islamophobes) learn that it is a woman's fundamental right to decide over her clothing and over her own body?

If a woman wishes to wear a burkini to the beach, it is her prerogative to do so. Just as much as she has the right to wear a bikini or even to throw away her bikini-top.

These rights do not diminish if she happens to be a Muslim and chooses to cover her body at the beach.

Stay the hell away from woman's clothing and their bodies!

Should the men, legislators and politicians (particularly the French, right-wing, Christian and Islamophobic ones) not be able to contain themselves completely, perhaps they should legislate that Philippe Pradal, le maire de Nice, should be obliged to wear a burkini when he visits a beach. I am certain that he would be much more of an eyesore in regular swimwear.

Karadzic Sent to the Slammer

Marlise Simon at the New York Times reports:
"Radovan Karadzic, the former Bosnian Serb leader, was convicted of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, by a United Nations tribunal on Thursday for leading a campaign of terror against civilians that included the slaughter of 8,000 Bosnian Muslims at Srebrenica in 1995 and the nearly four-year siege of Sarajevo.

Mr. Karadzic, 70, was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

The United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia convicted Mr. Karadzic of genocide for the Srebrenica massacre, which aimed to kill “every able-bodied male” in the town and systematically exterminate the Bosnian Muslim population there. The bodies were dumped in a mass grave.

(...) Mr. Karadzic was (also) convicted of persecution, extermination, deportation, forcible transfer and murder in connection with a campaign to drive Bosnian Muslims and Croats out of villages claimed by Serb forces during the country’s 1992-95 civil war.

In addition, Mr. Karadzic was found to have been “instrumental” in a campaign of sniping and shelling that terrorized the civilian population of Sarajevo, the Bosnian capital. And he was convicted of leading the taking of United Nations employees as hostages, to obstruct NATO from carrying out airstrikes on behalf of besieged Bosnian Muslim civilians."

It's great to see that one of the world's worst war criminals is condemned for the atrocities he has committed while he is still alive. Hopefully it will be a warning for a couple of other villains.

So one down, and hopefully Bashar Al Assad of Syria will follow soon.

Bryan Fischer Blocks Bock on Twitter

"Bryan Fischer is the former Director of Issues Analysis for the American Family Association (AFA). He hosts the talk radio program Focal Point on American Family Radio and posts on the AFA-run blog Instant Analysis (formerly Rightly Concerned).
Fischer opposes abortion, national health care, gay adoption, and same-sex marriage. Fischer's comments about homosexuality caused the AFA to be designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in November 2010. To avoid being classified as a hate group, the AFA has officially repudiated Fisher's views on Muslims, Native Americans, Hispanics, African Americans, The Holocaust being caused by homosexuals, the outlawing of homosexuality, and that Hillary Clinton is a lesbian."
( From Wikipedia's two first paragraphs about this hate monger.

I had forgotten I had visited this morons Twitter feed earlier. I must have left a comment he didn't quite appreciate, because now I am blocked. I feel honored!

The Swedish Hijab-Rebellion

A pregnant Muslim woman was recently knocked down on a street in Stockholm and had her headscarf ("hijab") pulled off by the assailant. Following the assault women who wear the veil testified that they are often subjected to name-calling and harassment of the most vile kind, both Islamophobic and misogynistic.

The incident lead to the so called "hijab-rebellion", in which women from all walks of Swedish society, wishing to show solidarity and "normalize" the wearing of hijab, started posting pictures of themselves in veils on social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You name it, it was everywhere.

This "rebellion" lead to a counteraction from a combination of strange bedfellows, militant feminists and xenophobic ultranationalists on the far right of the political spectrum. They claim that the hijab is a sign of a patriarchal cultural and religious tradition of male oppression and control of women and is a tool to curtail women's freedom to dress as they chose and to express their sexuality. They also claim that it is counterproductive to integration as it creates barriers against the surrounding majority culture. Some even go so far as to say, that by wearing the veil in a Western culture the women are doing exactly the opposite of what they claim they wish to achieve, i.e not to draw attention to themselves.

Throughout Europe we are also receiving reports that young Muslim women are starting to don the veil for various reasons, some as a political statement or as a protest against the exploitation of female nudity in the Western cultures. There may be even more reasons.

I find myself a bit lost in all the rhetoric. As far as I am concerned the hijab in itself is most definitely a powerful symbol of male oppression and control and of a traditional chastity culture. However, I wouldn't dream of ever trying to regulate what a woman may or may not wear, just as I would not wish to regulate the length of her skirts or infringe on her complete right to her own body and sexuality.

Any woman should be allowed to dress as she chooses, for whatever reason. Just live with it and accept it!

Slanted Journalism

The latest issue of Newsweek has - rightfully - drawn a lot of criticism for the magazine´s cover and article on "Muslim Rage".

The U.S. magazines grossly exaggerated and dishonest reporting on the reactions in the Muslim world on the the discovery of an inane and provocative Islamophobic film on YouTube must be one of the worst examples in history of bad journalism. The magazine blows up the reactions of a small minority of crazy extremists and tries to imply that there is a widespread fury among the Muslims.

Some people should lose their job for this bummer, if they haven´t already, and hopefully that includes the editor-in-chief.

The website Gawker.com has made a satirical compilation of thirteen photographs showing us the true pictures of the Muslim Rage, see Gawker: 13 Powerful Images of Muslim Rage. (Tipped by Avaaz.org.)

The reaction to the cover and the article in the Muslim community has also resulted in a a flood of hilarious tweets.

Ban Against Niqāb Is Discrimination

The Swedish Ombudsman against discrimination (DO), Mrs. Katri Linna, this week finally published her long-awaited ruling in a case where a Swedish school wished to ban a student for wearing a niqāb.

A general ban on students to attend classes wearing the niqāb is contrary to the Discrimination Act, the ombudsman found.

The notifier in this case is a young Muslim woman who, for religious reasons, wears the
niqāb, a garment that hides the face except the eyes. In January 2009 she began a one-year child caring education at a school in Stockholm. The school has a policy that forbids students from wearing clothing that covers the face. The woman was told she could not attend the program as long as she wore the niqāb. She then made a complaint to the DO.

Stockholm City justified its ban by the educational and social reasons and the need to identify persons who are in school. When the woman reported the school to the DO the school agreed that she would be allowed to remain in education until the DO reached a decision on the matter.

"Since A, despite the ban has been attending training, it is not obvious that there is a disadvantage according to the anti-discrimination law. The issue addressed in the case concerns a limited number of women and in the few cases where the matter has been raised it seems the schools have been able to find practical solutions in accordance with the anti-discrimination law's intentions.

DO therefore chooses not to pursue the matter to court for judicial review. As ombudsman against discrimination, I am worried about the acrimony and the simplifications that have characterized the debate about the niqab. Many have wished to exclude women who wear it from participating in training courses, from the perspective that the niqab is an expression of women's oppression and must be fought.

The protection of everyone's basic rights is one of the foundations of our democracy. Unlike other countries who through prohibitions or commands seek to direct  the citizens into a particular religious or non-religious direction, Sweden has chosen to uphold the democratic principle of the individuals free will to express or not to express their religious beliefs.

As ombudsman against discrimination I choose the principle to protect all womens and mens equal rights and opportunities and I do so based on the framework set by Parliament for our society.

To exclude women wearing the niqab from education does not promote their or other women's equality.

Disrespect towards women is expressed in many ways in all cultures, such as through the sexualization of women's bodies, or by referring women to manage home and children. But such expressions cannot be eliminated by isolating individual women from basic arenas in society.

I believe instead that education can be a platform for women to continue to develop and shape their own choices. Education is the basis for access to employment and thus access to a social context outside the home and the opportunity to support themselves. Education is a key to the closed doors that still exclude women and slow the progression towards full equality.

This long-term effort should include all women, regardless of their religious belief and choice of clothing."

Demonizing Muslims

Demonizing Muslims is a strong movement in the Western Hemisphere that totally makes me sick to my heart. Islamophobia seems to stick its ugly head up everywhere.

The Swedish Democrats 2010 elections commercial

American Future Fund TV commercial

As my father worked abroad when I was growing up my family spent eleven of my first twelve years among muslims and let me tell you;
Muslims are not demons.
Muslims are not terrorists.
Muslims are not seeking world domination.
Muslims are kind and considerate.
Muslims love their children.
Muslims want to live in peace.

Just as among us Swedes, the Americans, the Dutch or the Germans or any other group of people there are sickos, weirdos and fools among the Libyans, the Lebanese, the Iraqi or the Iranians. They are not, have never been and will never become a majority.

The Swedish Democratic Party (the Swedish Nazi Party according to me) have tried hard to clean up their act in the hope of getting seats in the Swedish parliament in the upcoming national elections on September 19th, 2010. The polished mask slips in their election movie and they show their true face!

Hate is never the answer!
