Results of GA WinterFest 2014 Photo Contest

I have been remiss in my duties towards you, my few but dear readers, and have not reported the outcome of the GA WinterFest Photo Contest, SecondLife section.

There has been a lot going on in my SecondLife, but the delay could possibly also reflect my disagreement with the jury's choices. Below are the top three in the competition according to the jury's decision.
"Catching Snowflakes"

"Snowshoeing"

Gallery J @ Second Pride Festival

It's been eight wonderful days of celebrating our Pride and although there are two more days to go of wonderful partying, meeting old friends and shopping or even having coffee, cupcakes and/or cookies at Bock in SecondLife's place @ Second Pride (SLurl) some of you may be in dire need of a short break from all the aforementioned activities!

Well, I have a great suggestion for you for a change of pace. Go visit the wonderful Gallery J (SLurl) at Second Pride Festival.

Gallery Assis - Experience Erotica

On Sunday afternoon (local time) I visited Eli Wallace's art gallery "Gallery Assis - Experience Erotica" (SLurl) in SecondLife.

The first thing to take in when you get there is the futuristic and beautiful architecture of the gallery itself.
The second is to make sure you find all the wonderful art photography that is exhibited there. The interior of the building is wonderfully confusing and made me think of the refrain of an old Dr. Hook song:
"And when your body's had enough of me
And I'm laying flat out on the floor
When you think I've loved you all I can
I'm gonna love you a little bit more"

The gallery exhibits many artists without bias towards sexual orientation. Yesterday there were at least three-four gay or lesbian photographers and even more heterosexual and/or unclear ones. I will show you a little of what can be seen there, but not any individual piece, because I want you all to visit and experience the gallery and the art for yourself.

"Ben in Farmland: An Homage to Tom"

Benjamin Glendale was kind enough to send me this press release for his upcoming exhibition.

"Commencing from May 18th 12 noon SLT at Gallery Assis is hosting Benjamin Glendale's new collection of images "Ben in Farmland: An Homage to Tom".

A long time resident of Second Life, Benjamin is rediscovering exploration in Second Life and taking snaps of his adventures, primarily for his own enjoyment but also to be shared with others. Ben doesn't confine himself to one form of image over another, he takes photographs of people and/or places, landscapes or buildings, as inspired by his surroundings and the events taking place.

The collection at Gallery Assis is entitled "Ben in Farmland: An Homage to Tom". Comprising five pictures, it hopes to capture the spirit of Tom of Finland imagery. All in a monochromatic retro style, it features scenes of overt masculinity, fun and plain hot sexiness, as it shows Ben's adventures working the farm and the men he meets there. Thanks go to the guys who own and run The Stud Farm, which was used as location for the images.

The exhibition (...) exhibits together with new collections by Erik Bayn and Joseph Nussbaum. To launch the event there is a 1950's party at the Gallery, hosted by gallery owner Eli Wallace (dress code Jailhouse Rock - 1950s)."

One Man Guy

"Commencing from April 13th 12 noon SLT at Gallery Assis is hosting Benjamin Glendale's new collection of images "One Man Guy".
A long time resident of Second Life, Benjamin is rediscovering exploration in SL and taking snaps of his adventures, primarily for his own enjoyment but also to be shared with others. Ben doesn't confine himself to one form of image over another, he takes photographs of people and/or places, landscapes or buildings, as inspired by his surroundings and the events taking place.
The collection at Gallery Assis is entitled "One Man Guy". It is inspired by the song written by Loudon Wainwright III of the same title, exploring the ramifications of "being your own one and only". Thanks go to the guys who own and run The Stud Farm, which was used as location for the images.
The exhibition is sponsored by Lumipro, and exhibits together with new collections by Maloe Vasant, Capcat Ragu and Sydney Garnet".
