I was wholeheartedly enjoying Second Pride and having a good time being there and blogging about it, the first eleven days. On Tuesday it was like a trapdoor opened beneath me and I just fell into a grey haze. No feelings whatsoever and no dreams or thoughts either, just an all-encompassing weariness and fatigue.
During the 72 hours from Tuesday until Thursday, I must have slept through 60 of them. Every third or fourth hour I would wake up drink some and/or go to the bathroom. Most of the times I was only half-awake for about 30 minutes to an hour, sometimes up to four hours, but throughout I was still extremely drowsy.
Finally around noon on Friday I did wake up and started feeling somewhat alert. I was famished and heated one of those emergency-pizzas I keep in the fridge. After eating and watching some TV, I went back to bed and slept through the night.
Strange, really strange! *said with a French accent*
Sounds like you got mono
ReplyDeleteThe kissing disease? Well, I haven´t been kissing anyone lately but perhaps there are other ways to contract it.
DeleteYou don't need to kiss to get it. It is a flu-like virus also known as Epstein Bar syndrome and chronic fatigue.
ReplyDeleteI had it 20 years ago and literally had 0 energy for 3 months and lost 40 lbs. I thought I had HIV at the time but was relieved to be diagnosed as just mono.
Ahhh thanks Ziggy, I´ll read up on it. ...and as I wrote that I started yawning again ;/...
DeleteThat must have been an awful experience, buddy, and I can well understand your relief.
I thought it might have been the strain of being SaveMe Oh´s lawer!
ReplyDeleteAll information concerning my dealings with the venerable Ms. Oh are privileged information, but I will go so far as to say that she is a perfect sweetheart in all our dealings.
DeleteI did wonder what happened. And it could indeed be mono(nucleuosis). I too had that when I was younger. It wasn't a fun experience. Have your doctor do a bloodtest for it. If it isn't that, it could just be an emergency shutdown caused by accumilated stress. You have had quite a few stressful situations going on and now you have vacation, you can let it all out. So just listen to what you body is telling you it needs.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, I am not a doctor...
I trust you, precisely for that reason, Butchie.
DeleteWell, I don´t have a fever and no swollen glands or a sore throat so I am ruling out that diagnosis - for the time being at least. However, if it continues I will see my doctor.
