ESC 2016 - Swedens Contribution

This is Sweden's contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest this year.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will be held at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, starting with two semifinals on May 10th and 12th, followed by the grand final on May 14th.

As hosts of this year's competition Sweden is directly qualified for the final together with "The Big Five" (France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain).

The ESC is considered to be the most fabulotastic and absofuckinglutely gayest event in the history of mankind, at least in Europe and Australia in our present days.

Victorious

Conchita Wurst from Austria kicked some bigots asses yesterday by winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with by far the highest score.

Austria came in first with 290 points, followed by The Netherlands with 238 points and Sweden in third place with 218 points.

Conchita received the coveted "douze points" from no less than 13 countries and the second highest, ten points, from seven other countries. She received points from every country (with the exclusion of her own Austria) except Armenia, Poland and San Marino. Good going, gurl!

...And The Winners Will Be...

It's the annual high point in many gay European men's year tonight, the finals of the Eurovision Song Contest. I'm staying away from those parties because I don't like the music one bit and everything gets a bit over-the-top and "gala" for me to feel happy and comfortable.

If there was any justice whatsoever in the world this song would be allowed to compete again this year and would win this time around (mostly because of the song but a little because of the cute guitarist and, to be quite honest, the singer/composer too).

...but as I am not expecting miracles in this unfair and unjust world, my second favorite for winning tonight is this one.

I want the Russians and the other homophobes and transphobes out there to get a wake-up call and have their bigotry rubbed in their faces, so I will vote for it ten times although I don't like the song that much.

Please, Say It Ain't So

Today I woke up after a wonderful nights sleep, made coffee and sat down by my computer to read the morning paper where I had a bad awakening.
One of the top headlines, just a little after reports of the super-typhoon Haiyan and its distressing path of death and destruction in Southeast Asia, there was an article with the headline "Fältskog Open to ABBA Reunion".

Seemingly the Swedish singer Agnetha Fältskog, in an interview with the German weekly Welt am Sonntag, has let it slip that a reunion is "of course something we are thinking about" to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the band's song Waterloo (with which they won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974).

The world of music has scarcely had time to recover from the last time they were around. It seems we must hope that Benny Andersson stands firm in his resolve. Benny a year ago said,"No, we no longer exists. We have not been around since 1982."

I always thought that Benny seemed like the sanest and most level headed of the former band members. Stay strong, Benny!

ESC 2013 - The Winner

Huh, whats so good about this song? It's terribly boring in my opinion!

Congratulations to Denmark anyway, now I am going in-world to dance at Spurt! I hope to see you all there!

My favorites, Hungary ended in 10th place , Iceland in 17th and Malta in 8th.

ESC 2013 Finals Tonight - My Top Three

Tonight's the night we have waited for, the night when the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 will be decided. Twenty-six countries are taking part in the final at Malmö Arena in Malmö, Sweden.

According to the bookies, the favorites to win are Denmark, Norway, Ukraine, Russia and Azerbaijan. I think those five songs are pretty awful and will now present my top three favorites for you:

First place
Hungary - ByeAlex with the song "Kedvesem" (★)

Second place
IcelandEyþór Ingi Gunnlaugsson with the song "Ég á Líf" (★)

Third place
Malta - Gianluca Bezzina with the song "Tomorrow" (★)

I must vigorously point out, because I have already been criticized for this by narrow-minded people, that the fact that the singers are all cute guys is purely coincidental. The singers beauty has of course not influenced my decision one bit!

Kedvesem with ByeAlex

Oh my goodness, I cannot believe it is true! The results of the second semifinals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 were just presented and my favorite, Hungary's "Kedvesem" with ByeAlex is going to the final on Saturday! That usually never happens...

OK, yes! He is terribly cute and "my scruffy type" (if I have one), but that isn't at all the reason this song is my favorite. Well, not the only reason...!

ByeAlex is his stage name, his real name is Alex Márta and he was born in 1984 on "Kiss-A-Swede-Day" (June 6). Hmm is 14 years too big an age difference? Stop it, Bock, the poor guy you are lusting for is most likely straight... or taken...or both...

(P.S. I am sorry that the video shows too much of the darn ballerina and too little of Alex.)

European Song Contest 2013

The finals of the 58th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is taking place this week, on May 14, 16 and 18, 2013, in Malmö Arena in Malmö, Sweden. This is after the song "Euphoria", performed by Loreen, won last year's contest.

A total of 39 countries are competing. Six countries are already qualified for the final on Saturday May 18, these are the so called "Big Five" (France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain and Spain) and the host country (Sweden). The remaining 33 countries compete for a place in the final in two semifinals held on Tuesday May 14 and Thursday May 16.

The ten countries that receive the highest scores in each semifinal then take part in the final on Saturday May 18, together with the six countries that are already qualified.

The town of Malmö, where I work, has during the past week been flooded with European artists and  musicians with their large entourages and many thousands of fans. In a rather small town like Malmö their presence is highly noticeable.

Although the ESC has been quite popular in Sweden the last years (especially among the gays), the event doesn't attract the same huge attention in many of the other competing countries, with the possible exception of the gay communities there.

Even if I am not a huge fan of the event I will at least have to try watch the final on Saturday to understand what everyone will be talking about next week.

The Swedish Battle for ESC 2013

The Swedish contribution for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2013 was selected tonight.

The winner with 166 points was Robin Stjernberg with the song "You".

In second place, with 133 points, and the huge winner of the Swedish televotes, was YOHIO with the song "Heartbreak Hotel"

Robin owes his victory to the participation of International juries in the Swedish final (who's votes accounted for 50% of the votes). The juries voted for Robin as the winner while they had the domestic favorite, YOHIO, second to last in the 10 song line up with a 61 point difference. The difference proved to be too large for YOHIO to catch up.

Although I do not care that much, I would still like to thank the International juries for saving Sweden's bacon in the ESC 2013 finals on May 18 in Malmö, Sweden.

Bock Nails Winner

Source: SplashNewsOnline.com
For the first time ever the Much Honored Bock McMillan, laird of Southern Charm and prince of Cascade Falls manages to pick the winner of the European  Song Contest.

Winner Loreen from Sweden with Euphoria was awarded the highest points from 18 countries and got points by every country except Italy.

This of course may mean that Bock actually is just a stereotypical Euro-gay, although he denies being one himself.
