On the Toobs

This evening Tomais and I were hanging out with a couple of other guys on the toobs at the swimming hole at Kahvy's and Garrett's new sim.

We had a good time talking about everything and nothing.

In the last three pictures you see - from top to bottom and left to right - Tomais and I, Kahvy and Wayne and Aeon and JJ.

A little while later we were joined by Garrett, who had been off doing some first life stuff.

There's A New Bock Inworld

Please meet Little Bock, my latest apparition inworld.

Little Bock has a SMB Mesh Body and was created mainly for photographic purposes.

Little Bock has no "pipi" and is hardly ever naked except to change clothes, so those of you who are about to shout "vile pedophile" at me can just clam up and go about your usual business.

I have always been a bit wary of the strange and strong reactions one sometimes get in SecondLife towards child avatars.

It's as if some people cannot see a child without thinking about sex, which to me signifies that the ones reacting have more to worry about than the people creating child avatars.

The Cervical Mucus Plug

I have always prided myself with being a bit knowledgeable about most things and to know a lot about a few things. Knowledge is a light burden, and one never knows when it may turn out to be useable.

Throughout life I have eagerly collected knowledge and sucked in all sorts of strange facts or useless information that are simply good to know. Well, I was completely flabbergasted at lunch last week when I heard about the "cervical mucus plug" for the very first time. Don't ask me how we happened on that particular subject, because I wouldn't know.

However, it is strange that I have lived for such a long time without ever hearing about it. Of course the fact that I am not a father can have something to do with it, but still...

Anyway, this plug is formed at the very beginning of pregnancy as mucus is accumulated in the uterine cervix. As the mucus thickens, it seals the cervix tightly, blocking the way for any infection from the vagina to the cervix and thereby protecting the fetus.

Before labor starts, the balance of female hormones changes. Under the influence of estrogen the plug gets dissolves and then passes. Passing of the plug indicates that labor is getting on regardless of the gestational age.

It's wonderful and fascinating when one can still learn something new, isn't it?

Pope Francis on Sunday called for the worldwide abolition of the death penalty, saying the commandment "You shall not kill" was absolute and equally valid for the guilty as for the innocent.

Using some of his strongest words ever against capital punishment, he also called on Catholic politicians worldwide to make "a courageous and exemplary gesture" by seeking a moratorium on executions during the Church's current Holy Year, which ends in November. (Source: Reuters)

Buns Galore!

This weekend the sailors and officers of the Southern Charm Imperial Navy enjoyed some well earned R&R at Gay Cove Hold as personal guests to the duke of Erat and his loving spouse, the Much Honored laird of Southern Charm.

As those of you who are well informed know, Gay Cove Hold is one of the few sims in Second Life that enjoy the phenomenon of two suns, hence the double shadows.

The sim was closed of to the public to allow the valiant sailors to let everything hang loose and fully enjoy themselves. (From left to right in the picture, Rear Admiral T. Ashdene, Fleet Admiral B. McMillan, Lieutenant Commander A. Jiminy and Vice Admiral J. J. Goodman.
