Demonizing Muslims

Demonizing Muslims is a strong movement in the Western Hemisphere that totally makes me sick to my heart. Islamophobia seems to stick its ugly head up everywhere.

As my father worked abroad when I was growing up my family spent eleven of my first twelve years among muslims and let me tell you;
Muslims are not demons.
Muslims are not terrorists.
Muslims are not seeking world domination.
Muslims are kind and considerate.
Muslims love their children.
Muslims want to live in peace.

Just as among us Swedes, the Americans, the Dutch or the Germans or any other group of people there are sickos, weirdos and fools among the Libyans, the Lebanese, the Iraqi or the Iranians. They are not, have never been and will never become a majority.

The Swedish Democratic Party (the Swedish Nazi Party according to me) have tried hard to clean up their act in the hope of getting seats in the Swedish parliament in the upcoming national elections on September 19th, 2010. The polished mask slips in their election movie and they show their true face!

Hate is never the answer!

Philip Linden 2.0

Oooooooooo I almost missed this...

As my favorite interim CEO Philip Linden promised in his keynote speech at SLCC 2010 he is now inviting us all to take part in updating his avatar and to create a new iconic look for him.

This project has been loooooooooooong overdue, read all about it on the Second Life Blog and send in your contributions. The poor man needs our help urgently.

Feeling tired and missing Ars, so this is all you get today! No big deal, my friends, just moody.

Emeraldgate - some trust restored

I have just finished watching  "Tonight Live with Paisley Beebe".

About 34 minutes into the show there is a very good and long interview with Arabella Steadham and Jessica Lyon of the new and regrouped Emerald-team.

What I heard Arabella and Jessica say have restored some of my trust in the development team behind the Emerald-viewer, so I am now uninstalling and reinstalling the cleaned up version from the new Emerald Viewer site. I will be following future developments closely though.

Big thanks to my friend Suteruni for directing my attention to this show.

I just read somewhere that Second Life is becoming more expensive - at least compared to the alternatives - so I need to start working to keep living in the manner to which I have become accustomed. (7 USD is only 2 277 L$).

Emeraldgate - update

Read all about it on "Eddi Haskell´s Second Life"

Eddi Haskell also gives us this piece of advice: "My strong advice to you is not violate TOS, which clearly states your account can be suspended if you are using Emerald or any other non-approved viewer. Linden Labs does not play games. And this is a very bad mess right now. (...) But there is another reason not to use Emerald right now, especially if you are concerned about privacy issues.

What some key managers at Emerald have done is simply outrageous. It may even be criminal."

I highly recommend you read the full post on Eddi´s blog and also this post by Douglas Green of "Harrisburg Second Life Examiner".

For me this is a question of trust. I don´t like the thought of my computer being used in someone else´s illegal activities. Neither am I comfortable with the thought that my privacy may have been breached.

The attempts to conceal the wrong-doings and the nonchalant way in dealing with it when it was revealed in spite of that, calling it "mistakes" and "shenanigans" and attempting to explain away and minimize what had in fact happened also upset me.
