Life is Like a Paper Bag

I was thinking of doing a post today comparing the ruling of the Supreme Court of Sweden in the so called "manga-case" (a criminal case in which the accused´s possession of manga-drawings highlights a conflict between the Swedish Child Pornography Act and the fundamental rights of free speech and free thought) with the nervousness and unease surrounding "child avatars" in SecondLife.

After I had started working on the post I realized it would be too long and take too much time and energy on the first day of my vacation, so I chucked the idea.

Instead I will send a greeting to my buddy the albeit heterosexually challenged but still fabulous and multi-talented blogger, philosopher, fashionista, cartoonist, author, enfant terrible etc., etc. Apmel Goosson of Solace Island..

In a blog post today, Apmel tells us he has more and more come to view SecondLife as playing with a doll house, and those are something one outgrows. I would therefor like to dedicate these two quotes to my bosom buddy.

Vacation

Today I start my vacation, a couple of glorious summer weeks with loads of rest and recreation.

I am not going away - not much - because I have some "self-management" and housekeeping to take care of in first life. I moved to this apartment not too long before Ars passed away so everything came to a complete stand still then and haven´t moved much since. A couple of home improvement projects also need to be resumed and finished, one at a time.

Of course there will also be the 2012 Second Pride Festival in SecondLife to cover, for my own and my readers pleasure. The festival this year is between Friday June 22 - Friday July 6, two weeks of fun and involvement.

So with sleep ins, a leisurely pace in my projects and as few night out on the town I hope to have a satisfying summer vacation at home.

The Mushroom in SecondLife

The inauguration of "The Mushroom" (Svampen in Swedish) in SecondLife takes place tonight. The replica in SecondLife has been built by Iga Clawtooth.

I had actually never heard about this particular building before, so I looked it up on Wikipedia.

The Mushroom is a water tower in the town of Örebro in Sweden. The tower was designed by Sune Lindström and is 58 meters high and holds 9 million gallons of water. It was inaugurated (in first life) in May 1958. In the first life version of the tower there is a water exhibition, a cafeteria and a conference center.

A previous copy of The Mushroom (but 33 percent larger) can be found in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

Thanks to my pal Apmel Goosson and his blog "My Avatar´s Name is Apmel" I can now reprint the note card which I have received but have not yet logged in to read.

Svampen is a building in Örebro, Sweden, and the great designer in Second Life, Iga Clawtooth, has created this replica of the first life building.

Our specialty at Svampen will be FOOD! In the beginning we will change the menu once a month. We have a special table where you can take your love for a romantic dinner or go for a dinner with your friends.

Once a month there'll be events, and even spontaneous parties. The best way to be updated on what's happening at Svampen, is to join our group "Svampen/Mushroom". Just click on my profile (rultan Zeplin) and join the group :)

The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom has unanimously dismissed the application on behalf of Julian Assange to re-open the case in the court.

The fact that the court handed down it´s judgement only two days after receiving it and calling it "without merit" in the language code of courts in effect means "Fuck you, now go away and stop wasting our valuable time with your bullshit!"

To give Assange time to appeal the previous ruling by the Court on May 30, 2012, 20 the European Court of Human Rights, the Court decided that the extradition should not commence until after July 28, 2012. The European Court has also announced that if an application should arrive, they can be expected to deal with it within a fortnight.

The Swedish police and other security forces have reportedly stepped up their vigilance in preparation of expected Internet-attacks on Swedish government institutions.

Report From A Sickbed 3 & Final

Already when I opened my eyes this morning (loosely interpreted) I could feel there was a change, not only was I in a good mood and well rested but I could feel no pain anywhere. I could actually get out of bed without the slightest pain too.

Although I need to catch up with what has been happening in first life and SecondLife I hope to immerse myself in SecondLife this evening. Hope to see y'all later!
