So Do We Believe In Global Warming Now?

NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies just published new data finding that July 2016 was the hottest month ever recorded. No, not the hottest in 2016, not in the last decade — since humans began tracking global temperatures back in 1880.

"So Homos Are A Result of Hetro Sex?"

JoeMyGod today shares a post with us entitled STUDY: Prevalence Of Homosexuality Has Been Stable Throughout Time Because Heteros Carry The Gene.

The story comes via Science Daily: Prevalence of homosexuality in men is stable throughout time since many carry the genes
"Around half of all heterosexual men and women potentially carry so-called homosexuality genes that are passed on from one generation to the next. This has helped homosexuality to be present among humans throughout history and in all cultures, even though homosexual men normally do not have many descendants who can directly inherit their genes.

This idea is reported by Giorgi Chaladze of the Ilia State University in Georgia, and published in Springer’s journal Archives of Sexual Behavior. Chaladze used a computational model that, among others, includes aspects of heredity and the tendency of homosexual men to come from larger families."

Scientists Find Female Penis in Nature

In desolate caves throughout Brazil live insects that copulate for days, the female's penetrating erectile organ sticking fast in a reluctant male's genital chamber until he offers a gift of nutritious semen. Neotrogla seems to be unique among species with reversed sex roles — with choosy males and aggressive, promiscuous females — in also having swapped anatomy, researchers report.

The insect Neotrogla was first described in 2010.

Entomologist Charles Lienhard at the Geneva Museum of Natural History in Switzerland recognized them as a new genus — and also as possessing unusual genitalia. The team's work describing the reproductive practices of four separate species of Neotrogla is published in Current Biology recently.

So first they took our pants and now they are starting to take our penises too, where will this end? Will the male gender become utterly redundant as time goes by?

Metronomic Oscillation Harmony

"If you place 32 metronomes on a static object and set them rocking out of phase with one another, they will remain that way indefinitely. Place them on a moveable surface, however, and something very interesting (and very mesmerizing) happens.
The metronomes in this video fall into the latter camp. Energy from the motion of one ticking metronome can affect the motion of every metronome around it, while the motion of every other metronome affects the motion of our original metronome right back. All this inter-metronome "communication" is facilitated by the board, which serves as an energetic intermediary between all the metronomes that rest upon its surface. The metronomes in this video (which are really just pendulums, or, if you want to get really technical, oscillators) are said to be "coupled."
The math and physics surrounding coupled oscillators are actually relevant to a variety of scientific phenomena, including the transfer of sound and thermal conductivity. For a much more detailed explanation of how this works, and how to try it for yourself, check out this excellent video by condensed matter physicist Adam Milcovich."
