I tried uninstalling, cleaning up and re-installing Firefox about a hundred and umpteen times. The problems kept recurring sooner or later.
Following my mate Eddi Haskell´s advice I have know migrated to Google Chrome, and let me tell you it is really fast and bloody
E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T!
Somehow it even miraculously recovered all the bookmarks I thought had been lost, which saves me a lot of time and troubles.
It look´s like Firefox 6 and 7 for Windows has a lot of problems right now, a lot of complains on the web. MacOS version works well, however.
ReplyDeleteWell Sjöfn, I am very pleased with Chrome since I was forced to use it.
ReplyDeleteTo paraphrase an old saying, "Once you go Chrome, you have come home"
I will try Chrome to. It is much easier than to describe the verbose solution to the Firefox problems. :)
ReplyDeleteChrome for MacOs had nothing to offer me. It's not a finished product. Delete history older than three months, gave a boost on Firefox.
ReplyDeleteGreat you like Chrome Bock! You don't really need all those Firefox extensions anyway --- simplicity sometimes works the best! Google got Chrome right when they designed it.
ReplyDeleteTrue Eddi, it´s just like the slogan i used to sell my Sion-eggs once upon a time; "McMillan Eggs - Simply the Best"

I tried Chrome a few weeks back and got a ton of malware and spyware after using it so i went back to Firefox. Anybody else experience this?
ReplyDeleteZiggy, that is interesting. I thought Chrome beat Firefox in this regard. See this article:

Recommendation:
I hardly ever get spyware or malware by running a real-time protection program. Only one run at a time. I like this one, you only need the free version.

You leave it running in the background and should have no problems. McAfee and Norton in my experience are not as good.
I use other programs, and occasionally, I will pick up a trojan, but rarely.
Chrome has a built in warning system and will let you know if a site cannot be trusted.
I had no problems at all yet, Ziggy, but like Eddi says I also run an Internet Security program in the background. I use PC Tools though and a great program from TuneUp.
ReplyDeleteNorton and McAfee suck big time, both of them let my computer get heavily infected until I realized it when I got spam-mail from myself.
I use Avast Antivirus and Spybot etc etc and only got these spywares immediately after running Google Chrome and never anything with Firefox
ReplyDeleteUse IE9. Even the link Eddi posted shows that IE9 is the best in malware protection. As for realtime software, use newest Norton products or MSE.
