Dig Deep

My friend Garth Raleigh at the Gay Archipelago has posted this request on the GWNews blog today.

"In order to prepare the Fabrice Snook’s commemoration taking place on Chilipepper November 23 from 1:00 pm slt, we need your help.

We’re seeking your pictures (full perm) of our friend Fabrice for a special project to celebrate this man’s time with us in Second Life. Pics of all situations, funny, goofy, serious … (no nude photos or sex).

A special souvenir book will be distributed at this event.

Send your photos to Zaza (Nefaso Resident)

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this project!"
---

Fabrice was a kind and charming man whom I got to know better only shortly before he passed away, even if I had met him around SecondLife for a very long time before that.

I will be happy to share the few pictures I have of this wonderful man. I am hoping my sister Millimina sees this and sends in a few of her pictures of Fabrice from Miss Wigstock 2010 also...

Celebration

The evening before the American election my son Guyke and I had discussed that we should meet up this evening to either celebrate or mourn the outcome of together with our family. It was also a good opportunity for me to meet the new extensions to the family.

In the picture you see (from left to right) Guyke, my buddy Butch "I-don´t-understand-this-family-thing-in-SL" Diavolo, Dillon (son of Janttu and Fabiano), myself, my son in-law #1 Janttu and his husband Fabiano and my brother in-law D R E Y.

Missing in the picture are my sister Millimina,  my son in-law #2 Ziggy and my brother in-law Dej..

As we had at least three DJ´s present I of course forced them to play music for us. We had a wonderful time talking on voice and listening to music. The most special thing about this party was perhaps that I heard Janttu speak for the first time. I will only say that I went weak in my knees (and that even when I was sitting).

The new family members were charming, witty and good looking  but I never doubted that because the men in the clan know how to pick awesome men.

Il Ritorno Del Laird

The Much Honored Bock McMillan, laird of Southern Charm and prince of Cascade Falls, having visited Stockholm to descend upon his royal cousins and to lobby the Nobel Committee (to ensure an invitation) for two days has now returned home again.

While in Stockholm the laird thought of his retirement from official duties in the far off future. It is true he has made plans with his sister Millimina Salamander that they would join households when that time comes, but they have not been able to agree on where yet. Bock emphatically refuses to move north and Millimina is hesitant about moving to the south of Sweden.

Well, during his visit in the northern city his mind cleared on where they should eventually retire after partaking of a delicious dinner at the wonderful restaurant The Trattoria by the waters on the quay at Norr Mälarstrand in Stockholm.

"It has to be Italy of course, nowhere else will do! Preferably Tuscany. in Florence, Siena, San Gimignano or any of the many other medieval towns there, The food is excellent, the climate is mild and warm and the men are beautiful. Guyke and Janttu could move into a villa, or apartment, nearby and see to it that we are well taken care of. It´s perfect and I am sure she will love the idea also!"

Avatars Creating Art from Art

"I love to leave the interpretation of my music up to the listener. It's fun to see what they'll say it is."
Erykah Badu

The artist, SaveMe Oh
I don´t know how the artist SaveMe Oh feels about the quote above, neither do I care, because to me experiencing art has to be what it does to me, emotionally or intellectually whether that is what the artist intended or not. What the artist intended is not really - or not always - of any interest to me, more important is how the art affects me or if it leaves me indifferent.

So yesterday I ventured out from Southern Charm to experience the adventure that is SaveMe and the art she had created for me. Let me start off by telling you all that no anchovy, olives or even Dry Martini´s were served.

My dearest sister Millimina was there which made me very happy, because I have not seen her in a long time. Even if we were both busy running around in SaveMe´s installations and did not speak as much as we usually do it was a great comfort to have her there.

Now, without further ado, here is my interpretation. I am going to show you parts of the exhibition yesterday. I have chosen to give you a series of pictures I took in random order. In the captions to each picture I have written a few words, thoughts or statements. By stepping into the installations we became part of it and changed it, for ourselves and for the onlookers.

For more pictures - and a different experience - please visit my buddy Apmel Goosson´s blog post Min avatar heter Apmel; Oh: Confusion is the healthy soil on which creativity grows

Afterthought. Rereading what I have written I am stuck by the gloominess, but I actually had a great time and lots of fun yesterday!

"I want a divorce!"
The mother in-law arrives
Alone in a room full of people
"How did we get here?"
Poison or despair?
The harbinger of death
"I have nothing to say"
"It is time to leave"
Booze helps - sometimes
Blue
Out on the town
Alone, at last
"My life could be better"

"What a wonderful day, I am happy but tired"
At dawn after a sleepless night
"I will always love her" he thinks to himself

It´s Over - Finally!

The moon doesn´t care a bit about defacing the Olympic Rings.
It was rough for awhile and the wait seemed endless, but now it is finally over. We are free, free at last from the Olympic Games - well, for this time at least.

My sister Millimina asked me recently why I didn't watch the Olympic Games more. "There are a lot of hot and wonderful men competing, I am sure you would find it thrilling and worthwhile if you only gave it a chance." or something to that effect.

I had no good answer at the time, nor do I have one now, but I think it disturbs me to see these wonderful men and women crippling themselves with years of hard training to be used/abused by the International Olympic Committee in this hypocritical way.

The IOC have sold out the games and what ideals they may once have had to big business. Mind you, I have nothing against big business as long as they admit to being just that, but the IOC pretend to be something more and that sickens me. Coca-Cola, Acer, Atos, Dow, General Electric, McDonald´s, Omega. Panasonic, Proctor & Gamble, Samsung and Visa (to name only the ten largest sponsors) own and control the games. The IOC shamefully supplies the veneer of the rings and the other symbols the flag, the fire  and the rest of the hoax of high hopes, dreams, idealism, peace-loving and brotherhood of man.

When they start calling them "The Coca-Cola Olympic Games" I might consider watching it with some enthusiasm.

Experiencing Returned

How we feel about art or artistic experiences is something deeply personal and is sometimes difficult to explain. I am not at all an art connoisseur, one who understands the details, technique, or principles of an art and neither am I competent to judge it, other than on my very own personal behalf. However, I know if I like it or if I don´t, if it talks to me in my present mood or if it leaves completely numb and unmoved.

My esteem of the art may vary to some degree with my own personal circumstances, with the music played or sometimes even with my thoughts before going to the exhibition.

I met with the gallery owner, my friend, Kandinsky Beaumont and my buddy Apmel Goosson at the entrance to the gallery. We exchanged a few niceties but then I wanted to go inside, so I walked away from them into the gallery.

My first sight was baffling, there was art on every wall, all the floor and in the ceiling also.

Everything was covered with Returned´s art, and when I walked into the gallery the music hit me also, a strange primordial thumping with a calming effect. I started feeling a thrill deep down inside and knew I was going to have a good time.

The first thing that caught my eyes immediately after that was a group of avatars consisting of the artist Returned himself and "his family" on display, their bodies naked and their positions frozen in time. The woman has her head in her hands and is obviously weeping.

Although I had taken more pictures at this event than on an other I have been to in SecondLife (more than 50) when I started writing this post I decided that I would include only a few of the artwork here, just enough so that you might also get interested and go there to see it and experience it all.

At an exhibition it is all about oneself and the art work, I don´t worry about what the artist may and may not want me to think. I found the exhibition extremely touching and with a childlike quality that moved me. It was a childish egomaniac with a very fragmented view of himself and his experiences in life and with his relatives, alone with his own actions, reactions, thoughts and feelings. He sees no connections, it´s all random for him and inscrutable. He also shows a very childlike honesty and has no defenses, what you see is what you get. There is beauty in his ugliness, in his huge eyes, and long limbs with enormous hands and feet. No pretense , no airs, no disguise or clothes, he lays it all bare for the on-looker and asks only for kindness.

Towards the end, the artist and "his family" joined us on and danced, surrounded bu the rest of the artwork everywhere.

A big part of the glitterati of the SecondLife art establishment was there, among them the infamous SaveMe Oh. I enjoy trying to tease her a lot but the woman gives and takes abuse with the same humor. It is quite impossible not to respect someone who can do that.

Lastly I show you a picture of Millimina Salamander and myself dancing. The naughty woman had put on a soccer top to tease me, but she looked lovely so I did not care.
I left the opening happy and grateful for the experience when a few of the other artists started doing their own thing, probably with the acceptance of Returned and Kandinsky but it irritated me and spoiled some of the experience for me. I wonder what they themselves would have felt if another artist had started doing his thing at their opening.

It is most likely something they usually do because no one else seemed to mind, I guess I was just feeling overprotective of Returned.

EURO 2012™

The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2012™ starts today, June 8, and goes on until July 1.

  • My mother will be watching it and talking about it all the time.
  • My father will be watching it and talking about it all the time.
  • My sister and my brother in-law in first life will be watching it and talking about it all the time.
  • Millimina Salamander will be watching it and talking about it all the time.
  • Apmel Goosson - and all his Apmels - will be watching it and talking about it all the time.
  • Anton Hysén will be watching it and talking about it all the time.
  • All of my friends and family, gay or straight and men or women, in first life will be watching it and talking about it all the time.
  • All of my workmates, gay or straight and men or women, will be watching it and talking about it all the time.
  • Every straight or gay man and almost every woman and child in Europe will be watching it and talking about it all the time-
  • Every gay or straight European male avatar and almost every European female avatar in SecondLife will be watching it and talking about it all the time
The only redeeming thing about this months of boring soccer matches will be the opportunity to look at the nice legs of the soccer players once in awhile.

A Whole Lotta´ Kisses

The long awaited day was finally here, it was time for the second annual International Kiss-A-Swede Day in SecondLife!

You can send out invitations, but if you don´t ask for R.S.V.P´s you never know how many may turn up. I knew from the start that it was an awkward day and time for many non-Europeans. After all the Kiss-A-Swede Day hasn't been made a holiday in most other parts of the world, not yet.

Too my great pleasure many friends and other people did come to the event and quite a few from the American continent too. Actually they came in such droves that I wore out my kissing-HUD. It simply stopped working halfway through the event. Luckily for me many of the potential kissers had HUD´s of their own.

I would like to than all for who came to join in the fun and especially FelineFemme, who was an amazing DJ at the event, and my sexy buddy Butch Diavolo, who helped me out with the hosting.

Here are some pictures from the event, please enjoy! ... I should also have some of me kissing with my CTO Vampi Twine and with Helene Dragone and Fia Wycliffe, but somehow I cannot find them. (I was too busy focusing on my own kissing, but I heard and saw quite a few others going at it on their own - hopefully I will be able to link to other blogs later.). As always you can click the pictures to see them enlarged.

For even more pictures from the event please visit my friends blogs!
