Halloween @ The Grove

Yesterday evening my old hubby Tomais and I dragged our weary bones over to The Grove for a bit of Halloween partying with DJ Hotboy "Hottie" Lockjaw.

Sentiments

For years now, I have desperately been trying to create an image of myself as a down-to-earth, rational man who only very occasionally is swept away by strong feeling of outrage, anger and disappointment with the human condition and social injustices in the world.

Then I get a picture like this pasted on my timeline on Facebook by my husband Tomais.
Seeing this I was immediately turned into a blubbering fool and was swept off my feet by mushy romantic feelings with tears of joy and relief in my eyes. At such moments I must secretly admit - at least to myself - that I am mostly ruled by my emotions although I try to give them a facade of rationality.

I don't mind getting tears in my eyes or weeping when I encounter strong and true emotions, but hate being manipulated to tears by heavy-handed sentimentality like in cheesy romantic movies or cute kittens. Or rather, I hate being manipulated full stop. Show me something true and honest and my emotions will come but don't try pushing me towards the edge.

There are two men in SecondLife whom I am heavily indebted too for conspiring to make a couple out of Tomais and me, without my knowing it of course. The excellent matchmaking team are Ziggy Starsmith and Rylan Sirnah, I highly recommend the two to anyone seeking a match made in heaven. How they got the idea of the wonderful Tomais and me as a couple I haven't fully learned yet, but I will always be grateful.

What I am wondering even more about is how they actually got us together, but the less I know the better maybe...

Thank You, Friends!

Last Saturday my Tomais and I had the pleasure of having you, our families and friends, over to celebrate our elopement and share our happiness with us at The Elopement Party. To those of you who couldn't be there we say, we missed you dearly and hope that you can be with us next time.

You came in droves in a way that completely surprised us and made us feel more loved than ever before. You actually came in such quantities and simultaneously that the sim couldn't take it and crashed under us, but as I have always maintained "Every good party needs at least one crash!"

With the kind help and speedy assistance of TJ Linden the sim was soon up again and - as it seemed - moved to a much better server, because after the crash there was no lag at all even when most of you came back and we were joined by even more friends and friends of friends. Someone told me later that we at some point peaked at 64 avatars present at the sim.

Ryder Yowman and Rylan Sirnah, the Masters of Music for the evening, with their awesome tunes insured that we would all have a wonderful time.

You came in the most fabulous outfits or outrageous costumes and in excellent moods for a party, it was indeed a pleasure having you all there.  Even the performance artist SaveMe Oh turned up to see what was happening and "improve the artistic qualities" of the party. Alas I was forced to kick her off the sim when she started large flocks of sheep on the dance floor, despite this unfortunate incident we are still friends and SaveMe could be freed up to get kicked off a couple of more sims before her evening was over.

We requested that you did not give us gift but that you instead share your generosity with two charities and you were indeed overwhelmingly generous!

Chaz Longfall, our liaison with ACT (The AIDS Committee of Toronto) informed us after the party that you had donated L$27.600 to that cause, while I myself have calculated that you donated a few dollars shy of L$21.000 to Second Pride. We would both like to thank you for your kind generosity to these worthy causes.

All in all Tom and I both had a wonderful time, seeing all of you there and enjoying ourselves, although we were drowning in IM's, teleport requests, problems and handling local chat most of the evening. We were also both much too busy to take pictures so we are grateful to those of our friends who took pictures and shared them with us on their blogs or on Facebook.

Party Reminder

Judging by the many Instant Messages Tomais and I have received today concerning The Elopement Party I guess many of you need a reminder.
Poster by Tomais Ashdene
WHY: Tomais and I eloped and were married on January 1st, 2014. This party is not a wedding, we just want you to come, relax, have fun and share and celebrate our happiness at being together.

WHEN: Today Saturday March 8, 2014, at 1 PM - 3 PM SLT

WHAT TO WEAR:
The theme is "A Night at the Movies", so come as your favorite movie characters or just come as yourself. It is more important that you are there than what you are wearing.

WITH: DJ's Ryder Yowman and Rylan Sirnah will be providing the musical entertainment.

WHO: Everyone who cares about us and bring along your friends also! The more the merrier!

No gifts please! We have however set up two donation boxes for charities Tomais and I believe are worthy of your generosity, one for ACT (The AIDS Committee of Toronto) and the other for Second Pride

Lets have some fun!
