100,000 pageviews

Today Bock in SecondLife passed 100,000 pageviews since June 1st, 2010. This is the 889th post.

The blog has been in existence since August 25th, 2009, although I didn't start blogging regularly until January 12th, 2010. I started out blogging in Swedish but since August 14th, 2010, it´s been mainly in English.

On this occasion I would like to take the opportunity to thank all my regular readers and of course the incidental ones also. Thanks for following me through thick and thin, good times and bad!

Lots of hugs all around!

Two Terrorist Attacks in Norway - Updated

The Norwegian Social Democratic Party´s youth organization was having it´s yearly summer camp on the island of Utøya, outside Oslo, Norway.

Several hundreds young people where assembled, mostly Norwegians but also International guests, when someone dressed in a police uniform started shooting into the crowds. 10 people are believed to have been killed.

The shooter has reportedly been arrested. The reasons for his crazy actions have not yet been reported.

Meanwhile In Oslo city center, close to the government buildings, a bomb exploded today and killed 9 people.

The Norwegian police believe the two attacks are connected.

---

My heart goes out to the victims of these terrible attacks and to their families and friends.I also think of all my friends in Norway and hope they and their families are safe.

Worlds Largest Graffiti

Do you want to check out the worlds largest graffiti? Then go for a look at the island of Al Futaisi in the United Arab Emirates using Google Maps or Google Earth.

The incredibly wealthy sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, who is member of the country´s royal family, has had his first name shoveled out in the desert sands by laborers from Pakistan and Bangladesh. The inscription is three kilometer long.

Isn't that a terribly creative way to spend your money and wealth in a world where disease and famine kills people by the millions? I feel like slapping someone.

Welcome Home, Guyke

The lost son has returned to SecondLife after a very long visit to Finland. Kill the fatted calf, pull out the barrels of beer, it is time to celebrate!

Backlash

The summer in Sweden has come to a sudden standstill with heavy rains and thunderstorms - at least in the southern parts of the country.

Short summer rains can be reinvigorating and clear the air, but when it just goes on day after day it is really uninspiring. I am feeling moody.

For the first time I feel like I am fleeing my first life when I decide to log into SecondLife for a chance to wear my sun glasses.

My Next Building Project

Ever since I first saw the wonderful work of the Swedish furniture designer Nirvan Richter, I have been in love with it. The first time was already in 1993 and - as I am never fickle in my feelings - the love still persists.

From the start this easy chair has been my biggest favorite (together with his huge cupboard), it comes in at least 1440 variations, believe it or not, and every chair is made to order. I am the happy owner of one. I remember I showed it to Ars when I bought it and he loved it also.

You can see all of Nirvan´s wonderful furniture at his company Norrgavel´s website (The website is unfortunately only in Swedish, but you can find a lot of the company´s old catalogs on the Internet with translations in English).

When The Much Honored Bock McMillan, laird of Southern Charm and prince of Cascade Falls, at a meeting of his council today declared that, "All production of candlelights will cease immediately and all my clans efforts shall instead be directed at building this easy chair for my households use and enjoyment.", I was thrilled!

With my limited building skills it will be difficult, but I am hoping this project will get me back on the building track and make me improve. I still want to make Ars proud.

P.S. Nirvan, please don´t worry, I will not be selling it!

Interfering Wendi

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch today appeared at a British parliamentary hearing where he denied all knowledge of anything and claimed to be humbled by the whole phone-hacking scandal around "The News of the World".

Well he is lucky to have a tigress for a wife. Wendi Deng Murdoch, who seems very agile and packs a good punch. provided all the action at the hearing by singlehandedly quashing an attack on her husband by a comedian with a paper plate loaded with shaving cream.

I don´t usually support attacks but today I wished for about ten seconds that Wendi had been just a little slower...
