To Coin a Phrase

'To coin a phrase' is now rarely used with its original 'invent a new phrase' meaning but is almost always used ironically to introduce a banal or clichéd sentiment.

Well today I did invent a new phrase and I want myself and you all to remember it (Why does this suddenly make me think of "Los 33" quarelling half a mile under the surface, I wonder...)

The auspicious momernt occured whe I was writing a a comment on "Tinas universum" where we were discussing shapeshifting. Someone had mentioned the phrase "Birds of a feather, flock together" and that set me off...

"Birds of a feather flock together" is an archaic and essentailly rural way to relate to the world I think.

There is so much more fun if we come together with all our idiosyncrasies and differences and different experiences.

Today I would therefore like to coin a new proverb; "Birds of different feather flock together, and also have more fun"

(Remember it was I, today and on this particular blog when the Swedish Academy's Dictionary Editors or other etymological scholars ask you where you saw it first!)"

Well I am a gay man who mostly prefers the company of a mixed nature rather than an all gay scene. I am also a Swede that has never had a Swedish lover (uhmmm well to be perfectly honest there have p-e-r-h-a-p-s been a few one nighters...) and I could go on, but will stop here.

Oh while I am at it, just let me add one more thing. I am totally bored by Swedish bloggers saying "the Swedes" with a frown on their up-turned noses and suggesting that themselves are better, cleverer or brighter.

It´s only true that we may seem alike from a great distance, and as Swedes yourselves you simply don´t have that distance so don´t try to fool me, buster!
