Syria, Putin & Shaolin Monks

"Shaolin munks in training", Steve McCurry
I lost focus for awhile there, sorry about that. The madness of this world engulfed me and I lost the drive.

Day after day, week upon week we have heard and seen the news of how the Syrian regime is slaughtering it own people by the hundreds each day and denying the The Red Crescent/The Red Cross permission to go into the Homs area to help the 100 000s that are wounded and lack medical care. All this continues while the world is watching, blocked from any action by the vetoes of the Russian Federation and the Peoples Republic of China.

In Russia we can also follow the maneuverings of the present Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, once and hopeful future president, as he tries to regain the presidency by blatant lies and scare tactics.

About a week ago we saw a staged pro-Putin demonstration in Moscow of 150 000 people, only to hear hours later that the people taking part had either been offered 300 rubles or under threat from their employers that they would lose bonuses or other benefits if they did not take part. Yesterday we were told that an attempt by Chechnyan terrorists to murder Putin had been revealed. Amazingly this attempt had been revealed early in January 2012 but the news did not break until 6 days before the upcoming presidential election.

Don´t we all recognize these actions from not so distant Russian history? Putin is more and more growing into his role of the new "little father" of the Russian people or the new Stalin.

Still there are wonderful things in the world, like shaolin monks, love, music, snowdrops (I saw the first ones today) and SecondLife and many, many other things. I and we must always try to remember that.

Just Get Out al-Assad

guardian.co.uk informs us;
The United Nations general assembly has approved a resolution backing an Arab League plan that calls on the Syrian president Bashar al-Assad to step down and strongly condemns human rights violations in Syria by his regime.
The vote in the 193-member body was 137-12 with 17 abstentions. Russia and China, who vetoed a similar resolution in the security council, voted against the resolution.
There are no vetoes in the general assembly and its resolutions are not legally binding, but they do reflect world opinion on major issues.
Western diplomats were hoping for a high yes vote to deliver a strong message to Assad to immediately end all human rights violations and attacks on civilians and hand power to his vice-president.
"Today the UN General Assembly sent a clear message to the people of Syria - the world is with you," US Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice said in a statement. "An overwhelming majority of UN member states have backed the plan put forward by the Arab League to end the suffering of Syrians. Bashar al-Assad has never been more isolated." (Full article here)
---

"Fuck the hell out of there al-Assad and for fucks sake stop killing your people", is my interpretation of the worlds message to Assad in this resolution.

Not surprisingly the mass murderer by proxy of his own people Assad was supported - yet again - by Russia, under orders from the "little father" Putin and his puppet Medvedev. and the Dictatorial Republic of China.

Russia to Silence All LGBT People

Homophobic Russian twat Vladimir Putin
All Out today informs us that
"The party led by Russian President Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin is pushing discriminatory legislation against lesbian, bi, gay and trans people that could eliminate their freedom to speak publicly and assemble.

Russia is a signatory to numerous international human rights treaties - including the European Convention on Human Rights. We call on you to urgently speak out and hold Russia accountable to its treaty obligations - and stand with LGBT Russians whose ability to speak for themselves is under attack."

Lawmakers in Saint Petersburg could pass a bill tomorrow that will crush freedom of expression for Russians and make LGBT people invisible. But leaders around the world can help stop it.

Sign the petition here!

If this bill passes Russia will clearly demonstrate how far behind they are when it comes to human rights and democracy! I hold Vladimir Putin personally responsible for this and I hope the leaders of the democratic countries see him for the antidemocratic dictator that he is.

Thanks to my dear friend Zigadena Gabardini for pointing this out to me.

UPDATE (from All Out) "February 8th: This morning, St. Petersburg legislators passed the 2nd reading of the outrageous "propaganda" bill that will silence millions of Russian LGBT voices. Our friend Polina reports that we still have time to call our world leaders -- the final vote will come next week. Call your foreign affairs office now, and spread the word HERE."

Spam

Lately I have been receiving an abundance of spam email from Russia or Ukraine. Whenever I open my email I get three or four of these.

They all - more or less - look like this. (Snipped from my preview in Outlook)
The worst part is that most of them are supposedly coming from g-i-r-l-s who all covet my oh so hot body and wonderful personality.

I would really appreciate it if the spammers targeted me with more suitable mail.

Shame on Moscow

GlobalVoices reports: "The May 28 Moscow Pride event - banned by the city authorities on May 17 - did not go smoothly: according to news reports, at least 18 gay rights activists and 14 of their opponents were detained by the police, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Manezhnaya Square and, later, in front of the Mayor's Office on Tverskaya Street. This was the sixth attempt to hold a gay pride parade in Russia's capital.

A number of foreign gay rights activists were arrested in Moscow on May 28, including a former U.S. Army officer Dan Choi."
-----

It is totally disgraceful for Moscow and all Russians that a pride parade and festival cannot be held in the capital of Russia in 2011 without being banned by civil authorities and without violence and intolerance.

Shame on you, Moscow!
