Another Uncommon Cold

So I am off work for a few days and have a full to-do list and what happens? I am suddenly hit with the uncommon cold! For some strange reason this always occurs when I am off work, there is most likely a reasonable explanation for it but I am to weak and frustrated to care.

American Indians were killed off in droves by the common cold when the Europeans started colonizing their continents. The uncommon cold is their payback and only hits men of clan McMillan. It is not fatal, but makes us feel like shit with a fever and runny noses and has us coughing, sniveling and complaining loudly all over the place.

Don't mention chicken soup, I detest everything that has to do with those ugly, smelly and foul creatures.

Science: Spread of Infection via the Internet

The illustrious scientist Dr. Field Marshal Bock McMillan at The McMillan Center for Disease Control, today published a sensational empirical study showing that viruses possibly can be transmitted through the Internet.

Asked for a comment Dr. McMillan said,
"Well, as most of you must certainly know I have been spending the last weeks kissing, slobbering and exchanging bodily fluids with that hunk of male beauty known as Tomais Ashdene.
Tomais has meanwhile had an exceptionally bad case of the common cold, which he barely survived with the help of chicken soup and some TLC from me. Now, to my own surprise and dismay, I find I have been infected by what may very possibly be the same strain of common cold-viruses that may have been transmitted transatlantically by the Internet. Further research will have to show if this is actually the case, but I thought it best to warn the general public of potential risks a.s.a.p."

GA Winterfest - The Opening

Saturdays in SecondLife have lately meant a lot of strange problems for me. All my remarks in Instant Message and local chat are repeated, any tip I give get repeated also until I leave the sim and my HUD´s and AO´s turn themselves off anytime I try to use them. Frankly it´s more than a little tedious!

If I weren't the most patient man in SecondLife I would complain and rant ferociously, as it is you just get this whimper instead.

Today I had one of my "have-to-go"-events lined up, the opening of the Gay Archipelago´s Winter Festival. My son Guyke was a grass widower (Ziggy was away in first life for one of his hellish weekend work shifts) so I forced the boy to accompany me.

Well, once I thought I was ready dressing and teleported to the party I landed in snow, which really shouldn't have been a surprise to me considering it was a winter festival duhhh! As a trendsetter and fashionista extraordinaire it was of course impossible for me to go to this particular party in a tee and capris, so back home I went to change a-g-a-i-n. I choose to blame it all on my bad cold and my fever, although I should think others will have alternative theories on the matter.

Mitch and Garth, the happy couple
We got there a bit late and missed out on George Michaels and Ricky Martins appearances, but were in time for DJ Avacar´s great set and in time for the two most thrilling events of the party, the northern lights show and my buddy Garth Raleighs proposal to his beau Mitch Underwood.

Luckily - and to Garth´s and the party guests great joy and relief - Mitch immediately and happily accepted whereupon heartfelt congratulations to the happy couple ensued, totally against the rules of the Winterfests ban on chat spam, but no one really cared about rules at that point.

At the Opening of Outreach Island

Bock at the opening of Outreach Island
(photograpy by Eddi Haskell)
On Sunday I made a visit to the opening of Outreach Island in SecondLife.

This is a great project by Justin and Jared Palianta against the epidemic of "teen bullycides" (suicides due to tormenting by peers).

My camera was not working and my attention level was split due to - among other things - the fierce onset of a particularly bad case of the common cold (it killed the American Indians you know, so it may kill me too...) but my mentor Eddi Haskell has the story and the pictures on his blog today, Eddi Haskell´s Second Life; Second Life's LGBT Community Takes a Stand Against Teen Bullycides With The Opening of Outeach Island. Photographic Coverage of Today's Celebration of Life Event.

Eddi has all the vital info, but if you should need more please visit Second Life Outreach For Life.

P.S. I have seen that a few of you have sent me note cards in-world, I will pick them up tomorrow - promise!
