Grooving at Sunset

Almost every Sunday morning 10 AM - 12 PM (noon) you can find me and a gang of friends hanging out on Circe´s Sunset Jazz Club for the "Coffee and Pajamas Jazz Show with Elfay Pinkdot".

I go there for the good music, the excellent chat and banter in local and of course the wonderful music Elfay´s plays for us. Ars always used to say that Elfay is one of the best professional DJ´s he heard in SecondLife. We went there together all the time and it´s always a great comfort for me to go there.

Today I had a slight headache when I went there, fortunately Elfay was spinning excellent mellow guitar music, so by the time we finished my headache was almost gone

Neither Circe, Carol or Joetonight were there today but I am hoping they will all be there next time.

Traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, creative and experimental works that include old and new processes, mixed techniques, and challenging personal, emotional or political statements are welcome.

-        Festival sim
-        Events
-        Outfits
-        AIDS Quilt

Then, you can compete to win cash prizes as well as the opportunity to have your work printed in Prism magazine (+ an interview) and exhibited in an SL Gallery.

The contest is open until June 30th, 2011 at 12:00 PM SLT. The Second Pride judges (the Board) will post the best of the incoming entries in the photo Gallery of our web site. Finalists will be announced on August 1st, 2011. Winner will be announced by September 15th, 2011.

It seems the board has now decided to make the contest annual and alsoto offer alternative ways to submit your contributions to the contest.

Both of the boards decisions are excellent!

I actually created an account on Flickr for the purpose of submitting my pictures to the group. Everytime I tried to do that I got a message from Flickr that I wasn't allowed to do that for several specific reasons that made no sense at all. I am sure I screwed up in some way so I had given up on the idea after 20 tries. Now I may reconsider.

Did Y´all Hear the ★THUD★...

...when my brilliant idea yesterday about making June 6th the International Kiss-A-Swede Day in SecondLife hit the ground?

Well, it didn't really fly with the Swedes this year it seems, because I didn't get any volunteers for my little project - not yet anyway.

Although that was a bit disappointing let me tell you straight away, I will take on the kiss-starved masses of SecondLife on my own if must be. We McMillan´s don´t quit easily and it was not by chance that I stayed happily married for more than two years to a man who proclaimed himself to be the most pigheaded man in both worlds.

So Monday June 6th between 12 PM (noon) and 2 PM I will be on the northwest corner of the Southern Charm sim (SLurl will be posted on this blog on Monday) to make my self available to any human, demon, angel, furry, dragon, ghoul, orc or whatever may come around to celebrate the first annual International Kiss-A-Swede Day in SecondLife.

The radio will be streaming the awesome music of DJ Sarco.

Calling All Swedes in SecondLife

So I was a bit bored and came up with this crazy idea that we should do something special for the Swedish National day, since I haven´t heard of anything else being planned.

I know someone else has created a Kiss-A-Swede Day on a date that no Swede could ever remember (April 24th I think) but to my mind the real International Kiss-A-Swede Day has to be on June 6th, that´s the coming Monday.

I am now calling on all Swedes in SecondLife who would like to share the pleasure with me of kissing every International guest that comes to the party between 12 PM (noon)-2 PM.

As I am guessing many of them will be heterosexuals I need both men and women that are just that - or can play act well enough - and also lesbian women. More gay men would be great too - so I have someone to share the burden of servicing the gay guys.

I was thinking the event would take place on my sim Southern Charm in the northwest corner where the party-barn is.

If you are willing to have some fun please drop a note card on my profile or send me an e-mail at Bock´s e-mail with your full SecondLife name a.s.a.p.

I will try to get back to you with more information at the latest on Sunday (I will be away in RL on Saturday). Please feel free to inform your friends and groups of this event in any way.

Bara´s Release Party

Bara on stage

The cloud is Chaplin Early. He doesn't like his picture taken.
as you may remember from my series "Naked avatars in SL"
A guy named Galen Spot (Great legs huh?)
My beautiful sister Millimina and I having a good time
Bara Jonson finally released his long awaited album "Lost in America... Somewhere" with a release party at the wonderful Gimle venue, owned and operated by Iendi Laville and Apollon Allen.

Bara sang and played his guitar to us who where there or listening in on the stream; some songs acoustically, some songs to back tracks from the new album and some even in duet with his son young son Kris. Let me tell you at once, this album was well worth waiting for!

You can buy the full album here.

The audience at the sim where mostly Scandinavians but we had a thoroughly great time.

(This post has been corrected according to the clarifications made by Bara Jonson in a comment)

On Snus (a.k.a. Swedish Moist Snuff)

This is a guy putting in a sachet of snus under his upper lip
(from an article in the Finnish online news-site HBL.fi)
I thought the mention of Swedish moist snuff in the previous post might need some clarification for non-Scandinavians.

Snus is - next to smoking - one of the major ways to consume tobacco in Sweden. I should perhaps also mention that the most macho men and some very butch women don´t use the sachet-variety but digest snus in it´s "loose" form:

This is parts of the article on "snus" from Wikipedia
Snus (pronounced /ˈsnuːs/, Swedish pronunciation: [snʉːs]) or Swedish snuff, is a moist powder tobacco product originated from a variant of dry snuff in the early 19th century in Sweden, consumed by placing it under the lip for extended periods of time. The precursor of snus, the dry form of snuff inhaled through the nose, was introduced in Europe much earlier. Snus is a form of snuff that is used in a manner similar to American dipping tobacco, but typically does not result in the need for spitting. Snus is also unique in that it is steam-pasteurized rather than fire-cured, is not fermented and contains no added sugar. The sale of snus is illegal in the European Union, but due to exemptions, it is still manufactured and consumed primarily in Norway and Sweden.

Its popularity is growing in the United States as an alternative to smoking and traditional "chewing" tobacco. In Sweden, snus is often used to quit smoking, which has lead to a significant decrease in the prevalence of smoking among men. In fact, Sweden has the lowest male smoking rate in the European Union. Females in Sweden, who are less likely to use snus, have similar smoking rates to neighboring countries.

Previously, Swedish snus was only available by mail order within the United States; however, an increasing number of tobacco retailers have begun to stock popular Swedish snus products. While it's packaged in much the same way (moist tobacco in a small pouch), production methods vary considerably from traditional Scandinavian methods. Additionally, differences in the way American snus is formulated may also diminish some of the possible benefits.

Swedish Match, the leading manufacturer of Swedish snus, is currently test-marketing snus in Canada, Russia and several regions throughout the United States.
