There´s A New Girl In-World

There is a new female avatar is SecondLife and I met her tonight for the first time.

Her name is Butchella DeVille and she is only two days old. She looks wonderful, stunning and really sharp! Exquisite taste always helps in creating an avatar and this girl can rely on one of the best.

Actually she has everything except shoes, which is how you would recognize her creator... smelly, bare feet (Butch has actually progressed to sandals lately. I am happy to say.)

Below you see today's gathering of male avatars with their newly created female alternate accounts (alts).

The amazing thing that happened is that I kept up my usual repeats in chat (sighhhhhhhh good old #01587329 is getting really tiresome), while Lady Cruella didn't repeat at all. As Butch told me, it cannot be my computer or my broadband causing this problem, it must be something else.

SecondLife Superstar Turns Six

Today is the sixth rezday in SecondLife of Eddi Haskell, my friend and mentor. This supersexy, superblogger is one of the extremely few persons in SecondLife that can rightfully claim to be a superstar.

Eddi is a man of very many talents, not least among them are a gracious manner and a willingness to help newcomers who are trying to follow in his gigantic footsteps. As you can see from the picture above he - in spite of his advanced age - also has a super-cute backside...

I Am an American


For at least twenty minutes today, while listening to  President Barack Obama´s second inaugural address, I did become an American.

He had me from the get go; when he quoted the first line of the American Constitution "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

That quote is one of the most beautiful and hopeful I have ever seen in any founding document and Obama filled it with even more passion and life and hope.

I have always wanted and expected from my leaders that they be filled with a vision and passion and that they are able to instill that vision and passion in me and all around me. What I have gotten from Swedish politicians the last twenty years is base economics and nitty gritty-hopelessness. Give me what I need, hope, vision, passion and a social consciousnesses and I will follow. Of course economic realities must be handled in a responsible way, but that should never be the only point - or even the main point.

For twenty minutes I became an American and proud of it. I was filled with hope for the future and our ability to handle the problems we would meet together.

I hope you had a great weekend and Inaugural Day.

Let me give you an update on what has been going on and the results of my testing with invaluable help from my family members Guyke Lundquist and Dej Mycron. They have been very patient and supportive and have also given me assistance through it all.

On Thursday evening, after I had pulled down the bandwidth on Bock from 1,500 to 500, as recommended by Alexa in the Jira, it seemed that we might have gotten the problem in hand. The repetitions in local chat, IM and payments seemed to have gone away even at laggy stores and I was very happy but did not dare rely on it until further testing had been made, so as you may remember I told you I was cautiously optimistic.

Friday and Saturday I spent in first life nurturing an end-of-the-workweek-coma on Friday and a head splintering headache on Saturday.

When I returned to SecondLife again on Sunday the repetitions also returned when I left the home sim without any of the settings being changed (i.e. the bandwidth was kept at 500 initially). I then got so frustrated that I yanked up the bandwidth to 5,000 and went to a two hour long membership meeting of the Second Pride. Lo and behold, I did not repeat once, neither in local chat, nor in IM.

However, after the meeting had finished I went out shopping and to my utter dismay and confusion the repetitions returned again, first at 5,000 and they remained even after I had pulled down the bandwidth to 500. This happened while testing at the stores of KMADD, Burley, Kalrau and Greed (Sey). When I was at Greed Guyke suggested I create a new alternate account and that we do some parallel testing with the new account and Bock. So I created LadyCruellaMcMillan (someone had been talking with me about animal-abuse earlier that day). Well, the strangest thing happened while Bock kept repeating in local chat and IM and with payments the new Lady Cruella had no problems at all, none in the least.

I picked up the press release for this important and thrilling event coming up in SecondLife in February via Daniel Voyager´s Blog. Daniel also informs us that there will be a 4 region stage where over 200 avatars will be able to enjoy the live music and interesting art/info exhibits.

Right now, 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. So today I became part of the revolution of women and men who will WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to violence against women and girls on 2.14.13.

With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS. On February 14, 2013, men and women in Second Life will join activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, and people across the world to Walk, Dance, and Rise as a show of unity, individual strength, and the need for change.

The Second Life event will feature a four-region stage where 200 people can dance together, surrounded by an area of art installations and informational exhibits. A variety of performers will play over the 24-hour period, enabling people all over the world to attend this virtual event no matter their timezone. The regions will have a General maturity rating to allow all residents an opportunity to participate. Pictures are welcome on the event’s Flickr group.

The objective of the event is to raise awareness, not to raise funds; however, information about real-world organisations will be available for those wishing to donate.
