Philip Linden agrees to makeover

My favourite interim CEO Philip Linden (aka Philip Rosedale in RL) of Linden Lab gave a keynote adress at the SLCC 2010 where he promissed us a lot of improvements in SL before the end of the year.

SLCC 2010 stands for "Second Life Community Convention 2010" and was held in Boston, U.S.A., August 13-15, 2010.

Philip was as always charming and easy to listen to, even for a technically challenged person like myself. I would say I understood close to 98,7 % of what he was talking about, which amazed me. You can read all about the serious stuff on many other blogs, for example here "Tinas universum" (there is also a list of the serious promises and a link to the video of the speech) but they all seem to have missed the three most interesting  and important points Philip made.

Firstly Philip actually agreed to a long-awaited makeover of his avatar and invited all designers and the rest of us to help him out in that process. Philip wants the new look to make him sexier and better represent what Second Life offers us today but still stay in the "general area" of his present avatars looks.

We will all get the possibility to suggest a new and more up-to-date head and body. Among the contributions that are sent in Philip will choose the heads and bodies he feels comfortable to be in and we will all get to vote which combo we like the best.

Secondly Philip gave me his e-mail adress. (Well OK, not me personally but thats totally beside the point.)

Thirdly Philip promissed us all to make it easier to wear shoes in the future.

I was listening carefully to hear him promise something about my long asked for 50 group for premium accounts, but alas he said nothing about that this time.

Non, Je ne Regrette Rien

Non, je ne regrette rien
Songwriters: Charles Dumont & Michel Vaucaire

Woodstock Festival week & "Hair"

This is just a little reminder about the Woodstock Festival week that starts today in Swedish SL. Read more about it in my earlier post here.

I am also extremely proud to now inform you all that the amazingly creative couple Ewa Aska and Jesper Prinz from the "Ice Hotel in SL" have joined in the fun and invite us to enjoy their production of the musical "Hair".

The grand in-world premiere will take place tomorrow Monday August 16th, 2010, at 2 pm SLT on the Lapplandia sim. (SLurl to Lapplandia stolen from Jespers and Ewas blog The White Room.)

As you may know already Ewa and Jesper are also the producers of - and the shining stars in - the biggest musical rage in the SL-world during the last year, "ABBA Sweden".

Cool tool

On "Ryce Skytower in Second Life" I found a link to this cool tool that transforms any picture you upload.  There are tons of variations.

I tried out the watercolor and the pencil drawing on two of my pictures. This is how they turned out.

Are You a Witch?

There has been some talk about witches lately, so I googled for a test...and actually found one!

Go here to test if you are a witch Best of luck!

Of course I had to take the test myself. I got this result:

"You Are 40% Witch

It's unlikely that you're a witch. At least, no one thinks you are.

You may still be interested in witchcraft, but you're by no means a stereotypical witch.

While you don't seem all that witchy, people may think you're a bit weird. You're definitely a little offbeat. No one really knows what to make of you sometimes."

Ted Olson & David Boies interviewed about Proposition 8

Listen to the two trial lawyers - one conservative and one liberal - that united forces to overturn California´s Proposition 8 ballot measure outlawing same-sex marriage talk about the case and what they want to achieve. Once adversaries in 2000's Bush v. Gore Supreme Court case, now two of the United States´ premier lawyers have teamed up to make the constitutional case for same-sex marriage.

This is a fifty minutes long but extremely interesting interview by Bill Moyers in his program "Bill Moyers Journal".

If you want to watch a full re-enactment of the trial itself and more please go to MarriageTrial.com.

Happy 1st anniversary Jeb & Shayne

Ars brother Jeb Nicholls and his charming partner Shayne Turbo celebrated their first wedding anniversary yesterday by throwing a huge party. The theme was "Gods of Love and Monsters".

The music was provided by DJ Hotboy and the party venue was soon filled with almost all the hottest men that Second Life can provide, with the possible and obvious exception of the hunkalicious Jesper Prinz and two other guys that I will not name here.

Jebs brother Dejerrity Mycron, this evening dressed as an automaton, held the sweetest toast for the happy couple. I am sure that Jeb was in tears when he heard it, the big, rough but oh so sweet mush. I was alas too tired to remember to copy it for your benefit, but instead I give you a few pictures from the party.

The party started late from a European point of view, so I stayed only for an hour before my friday coma set in, but I am convinced the party went on long into the American night. It was the best Friday the 13th I have ever had!

I wish you all the best for the future, Jeb and Shayne, and may you have many more anniversaries to come! Love you both, guys!
