Wanted - Dead or Alive

Guyke Lundquist (see picture), son of Ars Northmead and stepson of Bock McMillan, was last heard from on Thursday May 5th, 2011 when he informed his stepfather that he was on his way to Finland.

Although he informed his stepfather that he would be back on May 16th, 2011, he has not been heard of since.

If you have any news of this avatars whereabouts or have seen him in SecondLife please inform his worried stepfather in comments here or by e-mail to Bock´s e-mail

UPDATE May 27, 2011, 01:47; I just heard from the beautiful man, all is well but life has been hectic. I am so relieved! ;)

Fourth Day of Second Pride

As I already told you in the previous post I unfortunately missed Butch´s set at Pride. That was going to be the centerpiece of my post about Second Pride today I had decided, well here come "plan B".

When I got to the party area yesterday there was an event running sponsored by GayZone (a German club in SecondLife), the DJ was Wuzz Minotaur.

As I used to visit Gay Zone Germany a lot when I knew Drizz I looked around to see if there were any familiar names and faces in the crowd. Would you actually believe it, there was not a single friend of mine there. Where have all my Germans gone?

I spotted a few familiar faces though, people from the present and previous boards of SecondLife, like Nanaki Raymaker and Zack Premminger, and two bloggers that I have never actually met in-world earlier, Ziggy Starsmith (with the blog Ziggy on the Edge) and Jeff Ellsworth (with the blog Jeff Ellsworth - Witnessing A Second Life).

The music was good but the crowd was mainly silent, except for a short dialog I had with some members of a group I quickly named "The quadruplets". They were dancing in sync of course!

There was a handsome guy named Handsome and a bitchy little bugger named AngelOf. This is our short conversation, I have deleted the surnames.

[14:29]  Bock: ...and I must say, you ARE Handsome ;)
[14:29]  Handsome: I know Bock - hehehe
[14:29]  AngelOf: --o.0-- HeheHe *o*
[14:29]  Bock: pffft it comes easy in SL ;)
[14:30]  AngelOf: its not shown at you
[14:30]  Bock: haha thanks
[14:30]  Handsome: not as easy - look around Bock - lol

Soon after that the quadruplets left without goodbyes, or not that I noticed.

I am still wondering if the AngelOf guy really meant to be abusive (not all Germans are good at foreign languages) with his remark to me and how he got into the conversation in the first place.

Pffft I am being too touchy, lets drop it! But I am so going to ask my BIL to take me out for a total makeover a.s.a.p. Who wants to be abused like this in public chat ever again!

Well I became friends with Ziggy and thats the main thing to remember about this evening, not that snotty little two year old.

Meeting Derek

Well yesterday started out very poorly. I actually missed Butch´s set at Pride, the one that I had plugged myself on this blog. How that happened I am not sure, but I would like to tell Butch I am very sorry for that and that I was pleased to notice that he actually had a good crowd there even without me! And I got to hear the last tune he played - thats something!

During my rantings about my awful mistake to myself and the people that happened to IM me when I logged in-world I also got an invitation to come visit with my brother in-law Andrey and his new boyfriend Derek Pevensey. So after hearing Butch´s last tune, I went over to their place.

It was very nice meeting my BIL again but most of all it was a great pleasure meeting Derek. Of course I had already listened to Andrey talk about him for hours and hours, I had also talked to Derek myself a few times - giving him a deep probing interrogation on what his intension's were with my BIL and if they were in any way honest and honorable. My BIL is precious to me, I would not willingly see him date a scumbag.

Andrey and Derek
Well I am very relieved to tell you all - and myself - that Derek passed the tests with "summa cum laude". He is a pleasant, friendly and intelligent man with a good sense of humor. I can fully understand why Andrey is madly in love with him.

The best thing is that he doesn't mind getting Bock-crazy relatives because, as I carefully and clearly informed him, I come as a package-deal with Andrey.

On Contemporary (Swedish) Journalism

I firmly and wholeheartedly believe that an independent, free and powerful press and other news media are both essential and fundamental for any democracy.

The reason for this is my belief that the press and news media are needed to monitor, investigate, analyze and report to the citizens how the powers-that-be are using, misusing or even abusing the powers that have been granted to them.

The press and news media are the Third Estate in Sweden - in English speaking countries the Fourth Estate, and are - as they should be - the most powerful of the three (or four as the case may be).

Sweden has one of the oldest and strongest freedom of press acts, and later acts to grant the same freedom for other news media.

We also have laws stating that any document, including memos etc, in all local or national authorities is public and should be handed without questions to anyone who wants it for whatever use they may have of it. The only exception from this rule is if the specific document has been declared classified in accordance with the rules that are set for doing so. These rules are strict and are not to be used other than to protect the rights of an individual or national safety.

Sweden also has laws prohibiting all local or national authorities from searching - or even trying to search - for the source that may have leaked a story to the press or other news media.

With all this power comes a great responsibility for the press and other news medias to fulfill their obligation toward the citizens. These obligations are not set in any law but is rather a code of ethics that has evolved by the press and news medias themselves. There are no sanctions - nor should there be - if the journalists do not perform according to their part of the deal.

We - the citizens of every democratic nation on earth - have bestowed to the press and news media this tremendous power in our societies to set the agenda, to investigate, to analyze and to report freely anything and everything they wish with the sole reason to safeguard us from crimes and misdemeanors by the two (or three) other Estates and in fact everyone or everything else that may occur.

Auberon Waugh (17 November 1939 – 16 January 2001) was a British author and journalist.who once said  "Generally speaking, the best people nowadays go into journalism, the second best into business, the rubbish into politics and the shits into law.”

Although I am a lawyer myself - and even if Waugh´s statement is a gross generalization - I do believe what he said holds some truth.

So here we have this "institution" in our midst that we have granted total liberty to supervise itself and set it´s own rules of conduct and we also send them our best and brightest people.

The question I have asked myself - and joked about in a comment on a Swedish SecondLife blog yesterday - is do the journalists deliver on their deal? Do the press and the other news media fulfill their obligations to us to the full extent of their powers?

My answer is unequivocally: Hell no, they are not even close!

In my not so humble opinion the contemporary press - at least in Sweden - and other news media mostly are squandering and misusing their powers with sensationalism and gossip.

The contemporary journalists hunts of "offenders" have become a public entertainment, much like the pillories of shame or the public executions once were. These hunts are rarely motivated by the offenders position or failings but rather for the sole purpose to sell more copies.

The statement I got yesterday from a journalist (and resident of SecondLife) that "The newspapers only write ... and readers only read." is an expression of exactly what I think is the fundamental problem with today's journalism and journalists.

I willingly admit that this is also a gross exaggeration but nonetheless it is as true as Waugh´s statement that I mentioned earlier. It's always difficult for non-journalists to criticize journalists, as difficult as it is to criticize the police force. Both professions have a sick "esprit de corps" which essentially leads to the following position among both corps, "Whatever you do or say to one of us or about our work in general is an attack on the entire profession so we all have to huddle together in self-defense".

There is so much crap and abuse of power to investigate even in our little paradise that exposing the crap and making sure that those in power stay on the narrow road should and could be full-time work for our brilliant journalists - if only they wanted to do what they owe us.

I am now thinking "Too long, Bock, this post is too damn long."

Get Ready For DJ Butch

I had never heard about it before (Who bothers to read the TOS anyway?) but apparently there is a clause in the SecondLife TOS  forbidding anyone from calling Butch Diavolo "sexy" without his prior written and notarized permission, so I must instead choose another adjective when I describe him.

So who is Butch then, if one has to omit the word "sexy"?

DJ Butch is a barefooted hunky and sizzling piece of Dutch manmeat with loads of charm and an excellent taste in music, preferably trance, electro-trance or electro-anything.

Today you will have the possibility to enjoy his music and company at Second Pride between 9-11 AM SLT. Just be there!

Third day of Second Pride

Well today I was busy doing a special project together with two of Ars´s brothers, Dejerrity and Jeb, so I didn't join the party until rather late (my time).

Jeb turned up at the same party after awhile and I must say, the man only looks better the older he gets in SecondLife. Let me show you a picture I took and hopefully you will understand what I mean.

Today I heard DJ Blythe for the first time and I must say I was impressed. I loved her music selection which was forceful and rhythmic and the rest of the crowd seemed to enjoy it too. The woman seemed to have turned out for this gig, perhaps it was because it was a female DJ.

The lesbians in SecondLife have always struck me as being very "exclusive". They seem to avoid the gay men at almost any cost, with Second Pride being the only possible exception. Nevertheless I haven´t seen that many women around this year.
This is a camera-shy guy, I tried taking several pictures of him because he was wearing an awesome tank but his arms constantly got in the way. The tank is made by Martial Eisenhart, I´ll try to get a picture of it when I am not dancing.
