...When Buds Are Breaking.

The last two weeks have been sort of horrible. It is as if I have something stewing and brewing within that I don't know where it came from, where it's leading or how to handle. The situation made me think of the Swedish author and poet Karin Boye's (October 26, 1900 - April 24, 1941) little masterpiece "Ja visst gör det det ont".

Add to that a tooth that has been acting up from time to time during the same period, and since Sunday all the time. Yesterday the whole left side of my face was aching from the eye down to the underside of my chin.

These psychological/emotional and physical pains have consumed most of my energy and rendered me speechless and disinterested in blogging for a while.

Today I had the tooth extracted, so at least that pain will no longer be an issue.

Yes, of course it hurts
by Karin Boye
Interpreted to English by David McDuff in "Karin Boye: Complete Poems"

Yes, of course it hurts when buds are breaking.
Why else would the springtime falter?
Why would all our ardent longing
bind itself in frozen, bitter pallor?
After all, the bud was covered all the winter.
What new thing is it that bursts and wears?
Yes, of course it hurts when buds are breaking,
hurts for that which grows
                      and that which bars.

Yes, it is hard when drops are falling.
Trembling with fear, and heavy hanging,
cleaving to the twig, and swelling, sliding -
weight draws them down, though they go on clinging.
Hard to be uncertain, afraid and divided,
hard to feel the depths attract and call,
yet sit fast and merely tremble -
hard to want to stay
                      and want to fall.

Then, when things are worst and nothing helps
the tree's buds break as in rejoicing,
then, when no fear holds back any longer,
down in glitter go the twig's drops plunging,
forget that they were frightened by the new,
forget their fear before the flight unfurled -
feel for a second their greatest safety,
rest in that trust
                      that creates the world.

A Good Hair

How bloody difficult can it be, really?

I have been headhunting for a new hairdo in SecondLife forever now, at least the last two-three years, but there is nothing I really like as much as my present - six years OLD hair - from KMADD.

What I want is something messy but still tidy-ish, something short but not shaven. Something like Jamie Dornan's...

Preferably in a nice Swedish Medium blonde color that doesn't look like it came out of a bottle.

Some of the content creators who make hairs just don't seem to "get" blond, they give us a whole shitload of strange, sickening, shades of yellows instead.

I wonder why that is? Sure blonde hair is an aberration that arose from a genetic mutation, but it has been around long enough so that everyone should be familiar with it.

700,000 Pageviews

Today Bock in SecondLife unexpectedly passed 700,000 pageviews since June 1, 2010. This is the 3,504th post.

The blog has been in existence since August 25, 2009, although I didn't start blogging regularly until January 12, 2010.

I would especially like to thank all my regular readers for following me through thick and thin, good times and bad. Thank you also to my incidental readers, please keep coming back.

My Upgrade to Windows 10 (Updated)

Yesterday I upgraded to Windows 10. The upgrade itself was rather easy and took little over an hour.

All my personal files (pictures and documents) were left undisturbed, but most of my additional tools like Adobe Reader, AVG TuneUp, Chrome, Firestorm, GeForce Experience, Kaspersky Total Security, iTunes, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Skype and Quicktime were lost. This was possibly due to those apps being set to a different language (American English) than my computer is (Swedish), it could also be because they weren't - and still aren't (as I found out when I tried to reinstall some of them again (Kaspersky and GeForce Experience) - compatible with Windows 10.

My biggest concern initially was the loss of all my browser bookmarks, however they all miraculously returned to me today, once I had logged into my Google account. With the returning bookmarks I also got all my saved passwords in Chrome back.

I have reinstalled AVG TuneUp, Firestorm, iTunes and Skype, but - as I said above - Kaspersky (solved) and GeForce Experience (solved) don't seem to be compatible with the platform yet.

The only problem I have right now, is that my SLT time app on the blog isn't working in Chrome but is OK in Microsoft Edge... (solved)

Glory hallelujah!

Art Auction In Honor of Kylie & The Trace Too

Art Auction in honor of Kylie and The Trace too
Poster by Trinity Yazimoto

Art Auction: a fabulous farewell to Kylie Jaxxon
Auction start: 2nd August 2015 and ends 10th August 2015
The Trace Too (SLurl)
Kylie Jaxxon's beautiful sim, The Trace Too, is closing at the end of August as she has departed SL. Kylie created a beautiful sim that has become special to many people. Kylie was an avid blogger and somehow managed to find the most beautiful trinkets to decorate her lovely sim, then shared them with the community.
In honour of Kylie and her gorgeous work that has touched the SecondLife community, there is an art auction at her sim to celebrate her talent, and wish Kylie a fabulous and final farewell:
The auction was originally intended to raise funds to keep her beautiful sim, The Trace, open until the end of August. Due to people's generosity this goal has already been achieved, what an amazing result!
With this in mind, all proceeds from the art auction will now go to Relay for Life in Kylie's honour. This group raises money for the American Cancer Society within SL and we think it would be a very special tribute to Kylie if we could donate as many lindens as possible to this fantastic cause on her behalf. This is our way of collectively saying thank you for all that she has done for the SecondLife community, and remembering her talent.
A bunch of talented and generous artists have donated original pieces to the auction, and all their work is available for you to look at around The Trace. Each pictures has been placed as close to the location they were shot as possible. Check every corner, boat and deck to ensure that you don't miss any!
We really hope you'll join us to make this goodbye one of the best there has been in SecondLife.
Happy bidding!

Big thanks to Pinkrayne for the PR writing and her help for the set up.
