"Secret Lover"

(via +Joe Jervis on J.M.G.)

Anthony Antoine's "Secret Lover"

This is actually a music video relationship I can relate to, I have been there myself once and for a long time. It is totally  devastating for your sense of self-worth, avoid it at all costs. You are the one who loses, every time and always!

The Impact of A Blogger

Joe Jervis, the super-blogger who has the Joe.My.God. or J.M.G. (url) blog, shared this story with his readers yesterday. The story came to him in an email from one of his readers, Cindy.

"Hi, Joe, I had an interesting call at the phone banks last night. I have been volunteering calling voters 3 or 4 nights a week to fight the (Minnesota) marriage amendment, and last night I was given a list of voters who previously said they'd be voting yes (to limit marriage to one man/one woman) to try and persuade them to vote no.
One gentleman I spoke with had been firmly in the Yes camp until he saw the ads they began running here on TV. He was so angry with the LGBT community after hearing the things Kalley Yanta said that he went online to find proof of how awful gays really were- and instead managed to Google the real stories behind the newest attack ad, realized they were lying about us and changed his vote to no- along with his entire family.

But it gets even better- after telling me that he found many articles about the specific issues which were in the attack ad, I asked him which sites he'd found most helpful. "Oh!", he said," Have you ever read a website called Joe Dot My Dot God Dot?" I managed not to laugh until after I got off the phone, but told him that I'd look into that website, especially if he found it useful. He told me that as far as he was concerned, (Minnesotans) United For All Families should just tell the Yes voters to go read that guy Joe's website, he had learned a lot from it especially because as far as he knows he doesn't have any gay friends. So, you won one for us - thank you, Joe!"
---
It is quite understandable that Joe did a cabbage patch-dance at his desk when he had read that email.

To receive such tangible proof that you have had an impact on someones heart and mind is the greatest praise a blogger can get. Joe has worked hard and long to get it and is well worth all the praise, accolades and blog awards he can get!

I read his blog daily and everyone else should do it too, for the always interesting posts but also for the hilarious, knowledgeable and bitchy comments by his readers.

Joe.My.God. Eighth Blogoversary

Congratulations are due today to the Joe.My.God Blog and it´s writer Mr. Joe Jervis of New York, N.Y.

This is actually one of the best blogs I have ever had the pleasure to read. The blog has a personal mix of political news, music, science frivolities, well you name it and I am sure Joe has a post or two about it. And please always make sure to read the comments, J.M.G. has a following of brilliant, dedicated, funny and knowledgeable readers who have a great sense of humor and vast experiences which they willingly share.

To be able to read the comments, and perhaps comment yourself, you - if you live outside the United States - need to change the blogs web-address to http://joemygod.blogspot.com/ncr.(Unfortunately you have to do this every day or so, but the rewards are great.)

This hassle is due to Google´s shitty new policy of nationalizing the web-address for those of us not in the U.S.

TESTIMONY

(via J.M.G.)
"TESTIMONY - Music by Stephen Schwartz
Lyrics taken from and inspired by the It Gets Better Project
http://bit.ly/Testimonysong
In writing TESTIMONY, Stephen Schwartz collaborated with Dan Savage, creator of the groundbreaking "It Gets Better Project." Schwartz has set the heartfelt words from the "It Gets Better" videos to music, weaving them into a breathtaking, emotional new masterpiece that speaks to anyone who has ever felt out of place.
TESTIMONY was recorded and engineered by Leslie Ann Jones, the legendary multi Grammy award-winning Director of Music Recording at Skywalker Sound. Performed by the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus under the direction of Dr. Timothy Seelig."

Blogger Joe Jervis (Joe.My.God.) is a crybaby - and I mean that in the best way possible. He recommends you have a box of tissues handy.

I was touched but not even close to crying, perhaps because I was lucky and had sensible. unprejudiced and open-minded parents who always showed me they loved me whatever I might be. Even-so I do remember a period in my early teens when I wished I had been born different, if nothing else than to fit-in with the surrounding norm.

Due to an email from my buddy Apmel Goosson, who graciously forwarded some news to me, I am at this time mostly thinking about how organized religion - of any creed - seem to be the longest lasting, most widespread, most powerful and most vicious hate groups in our world. More about this in a later post (hopefully during the weekend).

Damn You, Google!

This weekend Google has decided to screw with bloggers outside the United States again it seems. They have now decided to chang the addresses to all the Blogger (a part of Google) blogs in your blogrolls.

I didn't understand that something was wrong or what was going on until I read this post on J.M.G. Joe Jervis´s readers are usually an extremely chatty crowd and the fact that I couldn't see a single comment in his last ten posts made me suspicious.

What you have to do to get your browser directing to
http://[blogname].blogspot.com/ instead of the http://[blogname].blogspot.[your country code].is to change to the correct address in your browser by changing the address to http://[blogname].blogspot.com/ncr. Then click enter and the ncr will disappear while the .com will remain.

Once you have done this the original versions of the blog will remain in your browser. You do not need to change your blogroll (my wrong sorry). The change survives a restart, but I guess you have to do this every time you visit a new Blogger blog or change browsers or computers or anything else...

Please note:
1. Thankfully Google is only messing with its own Blogger blogs, the other blogging services remain unchanged.
2. Bloggers in the United States are not effected.

---
This is plain stupid, whatever lofty and high sounding reasons they may give for the change!

UPDATE Sunday March 18: If my own personal experience is true for everyone it seems we must perform the change to .com/ncr everyday.

Career Opportunity

Well, well, I got a semi-anonymous tip, from someone whom I choose to call "Idde", directing my attention to a post at Joe Jervis´s exceptional blog Joe.My.God. that I somehow had overlooked earlier.

It seems like my second most favorite suspected villain Julian Assange has now found new and creative ways to work from his house arrest in Britain, where he is awaiting the judgement of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom on his possible extradition to Sweden (where he is to be interrogated on suspicion of two counts of rape).

Cinnamon Rolls and More

"The Cinnamon Bun Day" must be one of the most successful campaigns ever in Swedish advertising history.

October 4th in Sweden means we have all stuffed ourselves with, or been stuffed with, the pastry anywhere and everywhere we have gone.

No decent employer has forgotten to serve the staff with this traditional pastry. Any visit with a friend or to a cafe without a damn bun would be considered a complete failure.

I had three of them today and now I don´t want to see another for three months at least.

For a recipe of this traditional Swedish pastry see my post last year, Swedish Cinnamon Bun Day.

As the good son I sometimes try to be I brought along a couple of buns to my mother today. She looked at me tiredly and then told me "I have already had one and that was quite enough, thank you very much!". I told her to give them to the night staff.

The problem is if I hadn't brought them along the hospital staff would probably have looked on me as an utter failure as a son, probably my mother also.

Beside that it was a good visit. My mother was very chatty and in a great mood and had been without the additional oxygen supply the whole day.

On Joe Jervis´s ever watchful blog Joe.My.God. I read that "Anonymous" is planning to take down the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) from the Internet in a concerted attack on Monday the 10th, "Anonymous to Wall Street: We Will Take Down Stock Exchange On October 10th".

There is a video declaring their intentions and their motives for the raid, see it.

I cannot really comprehend how creating more disturbances and unrest for the International banking system will accomplish their goals. It seems to me that the only ones who will suffer from more unrest in the economic markets are the 99% "Anonymous" claims to act on behalf of. But who am I to judge, people say I am too judgmental anyway.

The Gays Are to Blame

To my own shame I must admit that I found this on the other side of the Atlantic even if it is from a Swedish television program. Joe Jervis and his Joe.My.God. rule once again!

This is from a very popular sing-along program that is aired on one of the Swedish (Public) Television channels and was sent during Stockholm Pride this year.

I particularly love the line, "We need to have enough morals for double-standards!"

If subtitles do not appear, click on the "CC" button at the bottom of the player.

Straigh But Not Narrow

Through Joe Jervis over at J.M.G. I just found a great site that I would like to recommend to all gay-friendly straight guys.

"Straight But Not Narrow" is a campaign working to positively impact the way teens view and treat their LGBT peers. The campaign is primarily directed at straight male dudes by using comedy and their peers to positively influence their views on LGBT teens.
...and now I am off to bed to take a greatly overdue nap. My first week back at work after the vacation has been great but rough! It´s good to be back with my work team though!

Why don´t you head on over to his blog to say congratulations and help yourself to some of the cupcakes and punch he is serving up to celebrate the occasion. Hurry, or you will not get any!

Congrats Joe, you are my mentor!

Colors, Gender and Sexual Identity

So spring is here now and at lunch today some of my female colleagues where discussing colors. They talked about äppelblomsgrön (apple-blossom green), lindblomsgrön (linden flower green) limegrön (lime green), gammelrosa (old pink) and cerise among many other colors.

While I was listening to them talk, I suddenly realized that I didn't understand the difference between the colors they were mentioning and seemed to agree about and was reminded by a post on Joe.My.God. recently where Joe Jervis used the following picture to jokingly illustrate the difference on how the two genders differentiate between colors.

According to the comments there was a difference between straight men and gay men in that gay men can differentiate more colors than straight men. I did not understand what they meant then and I still don´t.

When I came home I googled for the colors I have mentioned at the beginning of this post. The results of my search did not clarify the issue to me.

The yarn is supposedly apple blossom green
Lime green
Also lime green
Linden blossom green
Cerise
Old pink
Also old pink
I am now totally lost, I think the samples are just different shades of green or pink, and two of the green that are said to be the same color definitely look different to me and the same goes for two of the pink.

Oh my f***ing Gawd - I hope this doesn't mean that I am a heterosexual! That would really be the worst fate in the world!

Billy Ray Martin - Sweet Suburban

Sweet Suburban Disco - radio edit by billie ray martin

A bad storm here is keeping me awake, the damn thing is very noisy.

I´ll give you another sweet song while I am at it - and the storm is still not subsiding...

Once again I owe tribute to Joe Jervis at J. M. G. for telling me of this amazing singer.

Joe.My.God on Love & Friendship

I found these strong words of love and friendship on Joe Jervis blogg Joe.My.God and was deeply touched.

For the original post "I Will Hold You Ten Times"

First Joe´s preface to the post: "As longtime readers know, there are four or five JMG entries that I repost every year. This is one of them. My dear friend Daniel Johnson, who threw the most kickass Groundhog's Day birthday parties for himself, would have been 54 years old today. His was a life that burned brightly and I am illuminated still. Daniel Johnson, 1957-1997.
