Support Ticket #01587329 VI

Illustration from Omnitechsupport
During the past night Theresa Linden has been putting Bock through another set of trials ordeals, whereupon she sent me the following email:

"A comment has been added to your Case..

Case: 01587329
Avatar: Bock McMillan
Type: Other Inworld Issues
Status: Information Requested

Hey Bock,

It is a pleasure helping you. You are so cooperative and understanding! I have logged in your account again today and it was also cooperating well. Just to make sure the issue causing the problems was not something on your avatar, I have detached everything from him, and also turned you into a test male.

What I would like you to try is seeing if you encounter the same issues when you are in this test avatar status. If you do right away, let me know and feel free to attach as normal. If you do not, slowly start attaching things one at a time starting with skin, shape, so on and so fourth, while testing your issues. Please let me know how this experiment goes!

Thanks so much for your time,

Theresa Linden

The coming weekend I will do as Theresa has asked me and then report back to her. Please, keep your fingers crossed!

...but to night I am going out in first life to celebrate an 80th anniversary. Take care my darlings and we will meet tomorrow!

Things are moving along well with my support case despite the weekend. I got the following email today.

Hi Bock ---

Thanks for the additional info. What I need to try now is seeing if I encounter the same problem when I have access to your account. If you are ok with me performing this test, please reply back that I have your consent.

Once you comply, you will receive an email advising you that the action is taking place so that you don't login when we are testing, then another email letting you know when we are done. When you're logged out and ready to go, respond to this case and we will get started. We do not need your password for this.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Theresa Linden

I sent the following response as soon as I saw the e-mail (at 4 AM in the morning my time when I woke up to "wash my hands").

"Hi Theresa,

You have my full consent!

Yours,

Bock"

P.S. In hindsight I wish I had asked Theresa to be gentle with me, because as a Kinsey type 6 this would be my first time with a woman. It´s been bugging me since I sent the email...

Mesh-Monster or A Support Ticket #01587329 Experiment

Today I made an experiment to check what would happen if I allowed my stepson Guyke to take Bock for a spin on his machine. Would the problems I have encountered in-world for the last two months still occur? I also told him that while he was at it, he might as well equip me with some of the mesh-clothing he loves so much.

Well, as it turned out none of my problems occurred when Bock was run on Guyke´s machine, no repeats in local chat or IM, no double teleports, no double purchases etc., etc. And he also got me an outfit from KalRau that I love, I may have to reevaluate my attitude and resistance towards mesh-clothing after all.

When I once again took over Bock the problems came back again. So I guess it means something but I cannot imagine what, except that the issues are connected to me and my machine rather than to SecondLife.

WARNING Just a word of advice in closing, only let someone you trust totally, absolutely and without any reservations take your avatar for a spin.

Today I received the following response on my support ticket from Linden Lab.

  Hello Bock,

I want to first thank you for providing so much helpful and needed information about this case. I wish more cases were in depth like this one.  I am very sorry to hear about these issues you are having and this situation is very unique.  I do have a question for you that I could not see an answer for:  Are you using a Hardwired or Wireless internet connection?  I will probably have more questions, but this is very vital, and I wanted to start here.  Thank you for any additional info you can contribute!

....

I sent the following answer.

"Hello Theresa,

I am using a Hardwired Internet connection.

I have also tried out my alternate accounts all of them seem OK except for one other that gets the same repetition in local chat. However I do not use those accounts much at all and it has only been on the home sim so the value of this discovery is limited I should think.

Another thing I would like to add, is that it seems like I the system tries to repeat my teleports also, because after every time I have teleported I now get a pop up telling me that teleports are blocked. This happens when I am actually at the place I wanted to tp to.

Kind regards
Bock McMillan"

Two Parties

This was the evening of the two parties, both with great DJ´s.

I started out at Mikedacook "Mikey" Dinzeo´s birthday party. Mikey and I share the same birthday in first life and there was a third guy named Kevin at the party who had a birthday next week. GO CAPRICORNS!

Ryce Skytower and his husband Benja Aquila where at the party too (see pics above). They were - as always - all over each other but sweet all the same.

Next I was invited to drop in at DJ Shepherd´s set, and of course I could not say no to that, even if I had discussed the importance of being able to say "No" with Mikey´s husband Robin Dinzeo earlier in the evening.

The loving couple at this party were my stepson Guyke and his partner Ziggy, they looked cuter than ever!

Besides the pleasant company and the great music at both parties it was another hell night for me. All my problems were there and I realized that I also repeat my teleports. I sure hope that Linden Lab can help me soon because this is killing me.

Get Rid of Grey People

"I see grey people" is one of the most frequently heard statements in SecondLife. The expression means that the surrounding avatars are not loading properly in that persons viewer.

After close to five years in SecondLife I recently heard about the simplest trick to solve this common problem. I have spent over 4 years trying to solve this problem whenever it hits me with clearing the web cache, relogging and reloading Inventory or sometimes even rebooting my computer, when the problem could be fixed with a simple action. Can you believe it?

What you should do in this situation is simply change your group tag or switch to no group tag. Usually, this simple measure solves the grey people problem in less than 30 seconds.

(I am banging my head against the wall to try to remember who told me about this, but I just cannot recall who it was.)

W.T.F. - UPDATED

Strange things are going on in SecondLife.

Today I ran my alt Wild for the first time in a very long while. This is what he looked like on his own screen... All ruthed with boobs and a strange skin and only half of his clothes and the soles of his shoes.

I relogged and cleared caches and loaded inventory for the longest while, but still nothing changed.

Everytime I tried changing shape or skin or clothing I got the system message "Cannot change appearance until clothing and shape are loaded". Wild cannot go to appearance either.

So I left him there for two hours and then tried again and I still got the same message.

When I looked at Wild on my own screen he looked like this. As you see he is wearing his skin here, his shoes and all his clothes but the shape is all f**ked.

So you computer savvy guys and girls, what can i do to get my beautiful Wild back looking like this...

UPDATE: And after help from NE0 and Jeff we have Wild in all his unadorned beauty back! Thanks guys!

For future reference I am adding what Jeff told me here:
[11:53]  Jeff Ellsworth: (Saved Mon Jul 18 20:18:13 2011) hey Bock:)
[11:53]  Jeff Ellsworth: (Saved Mon Jul 18 20:19:28 2011) for the avatar stuck like that....try detatching everything and changing to the CHARACTER TEST avatar.....its just the boy next door av actually
[11:53]  Jeff Ellsworth: (Saved Mon Jul 18 20:20:22 2011) do this in a less populated sim like Pooley and let the inventory load before moving around
[11:53]  Jeff Ellsworth: (Saved Mon Jul 18 20:20:51 2011) then try logging out and changing to the usual av after relogging
[11:53]  Jeff Ellsworth: (Saved Mon Jul 18 20:21:13 2011) also clear caches before relogging.....might help
[11:53]  Jeff Ellsworth: (Saved Mon Jul 18 20:22:16 2011) since the av hasn't been logged in a while it may be a hud or attachment no longer compatible with the viewer or whatever
[11:53]  Jeff Ellsworth: (Saved Mon Jul 18 20:22:54 2011) so add those one at a time and look to see how the appearance reacts to it
[11:53]  Jeff Ellsworth: (Saved Mon Jul 18 20:23:47 2011) also be sure your viewer is updated fully
