New Header for Late Winter 2017

Bock in SecondLife's art director, Tomais Ashdene, has made a new header for the the late winter season of 2017.

Well, actually my husband made it for Valentine's Day, but I love it so much that I've decided to keep it until I switch to the spring header.

Please don't be disturbed by the drunk youngster in the picture, he survived the experience and has now taken an oath of abstinence. We'll wait and see how long that lasts...

Bock in SecondLife's art-director, Tomais Ashdene, has created a new blog header for the fall season of 2016.

The header shows little Tomais and little Bock playing with the fallen leaves at Southern Charm.

I absolutely love the vibrant colors!

New Logo for BiSL - Again

Yeah, yeah I know, it wasn't too long ago I updated the logo for Bock in SecondLife, but I found this awesome logo maker and wanted something sleeker, more minimalistic and modern.

The website Shopify.com has a couple of free online tools, among other a Logo maker. I made two logos in the same style, one rectangular and the other square. The font is Poiret One.

I am very happy with the results.

A Daring Fashionista (Updated)

I don't know this beautiful young man, but I must admit that I love him already! Update: I have since posting learned that the brave young man is none other than Mr Dozer G. Dragoone.

Look at his style, grace and exquisite taste, the strong and vibrant energy he exudes with his attitude of "Fuck you, I know I am beautiful!". He must truly be one of that rare breed, a true fashionista. Not one to follow the flock and bold enough to make his own statement.

As you may - or perhaps maybe not - notice the stunning and bold young man is sporting "The Jesters Hat in Multicolored Rhinestone" from BMcM™ (a part of the BMcM™ Corporation), this year's gift at the Bock in SecondLife booth at the Second Pride Festival.

Second Pride Festival Starts Today

The Second Pride Festival 2016 starts today!

This is going to be so fun and exciting! I'm sure it will be "the best Pride ever", somehow that is mostly the feeling I walk away with at the end of every festival.

Just being there, meeting the people you like but still haven't seen much of since last Pride because our timezones are different and our circles don't overlap. Every year it is also exciting to make new friends - who may become "Pride friends" but, with any luck, closer.

Bock in SecondLife is going to be there - of course - and I will eagerly report back to you almost everything I encounter, but perhaps a bit more sparsely this year as I will not start my vacation until Midsummer's Eve, which is next Friday.

To celebrate the Pride Festival I have made a blog header of my own, I forgot to consult my clever and talented husband Tomais in time. I am graphically challenged but it will suffice for the coming nine days.

I hope to see you all at Bock in SecondLife's booth at Second Pride South or at the blog's event on this Saturday, 2-4PM SLT, when I and Kahvy are starting a new tradition - hopefully - with this event.

New Header for Summer 2016

Bock in SecondLife's art-director, Tomais Ashdene, has created a new awesome header for the summer season of 2016.

Tomais also suggested I change the background, which I was rather hesitant to do at first because it always screws up something else. When we had tried out a few - that buggered up the blog - we finally found this transparent background with a sort of paisley pattern. I like it alot.

Secret message to Tomais, should we perhaps drop our search for the perfect male mesh head temporarily to set up the Bock in SecondLife thing-a-magee...?

EXCLUSIVE: Confessions of A Cheater

It was recently revealed that there has been a widespread use of so called "Auto Poke Back"-scripts on the social media site Facebook.

The scandal erupted just a few days ago when one of the cheaters confessed his deceitful and perfidious behavior on his timeline.

According to the confession this European of noble descent, has installed an extension available for Google Chrome in his browser and had minimized the web page but forgot to close it properly when he went to sleep. This meant that his friends and acquaintances on Facebook got poked throughout the night and the next day, until he got home from work in the evening.

It seems he understood what had occurred when he received a large amount of messages concerning his poking.

This blogs intrepid reporter has tracked down the culprit and with great finesse and tenacity succeeded in persuading him to agree to this exclusive interview. The only conditions made was that neither his name or his hereditary or acquired titles should be mentioned. We have therefore decided to - for the purpose of this interview only - call him Lord X.

Photography by Tomais Ashdene
Bock in SecondLife (BiSL): "Thank you so much for giving us this interview Lord X."

Lord X: "Well, it wasn't as if I had much of a choice was it? You have been badgering me incessantly and sticking to me like dogshit under my shoe."

BiSL: "Now, now... It cannot really have been as bad as that!"

Lord X: "Yeah, I am sure you wouldn't think so, but I am giving you this interview just to be able to take a crap in peace without getting a microphone stuck under my nose through the window of the bathroom or getting woken up in the middle of the night by you crawling out from under my bed and sticking the same bloody microphone in my face... I think my assessment is fairly accurate. Could we move on? Your five minutes will be up soon!"

BiSL: "Hmmm OK, lets agree to disagree on my use of legitimate tenacity to get this shocking news out to our readers. Hmmmm so, please tell us why you took the shameful step of using the cheating "Auto Poke Back"-script?"

Lord X: "Are you serious? We are talking about a mind blowingly silly game on a lousy social media site. Aren't you really blowing this thing completely out of all reasonable proportions?"

BiSL: "I believe it would be more suitable to show some humility in the face of the anxiety and uproar you have created among your friends. As we understand it some of them are extremely hurt by your actions, even to the point where they are receiving treatment for PTSD."

Lord X: "It's effing unbelievable! I have too many friends and acquaintances to poke manually so I got the poke-ma-call-it to share the love without spending 20 hours a day on poking on Facebook. This is insane!"

BiSL: "You seem to be totally unrepentant concerning your cheating and the hurt you've caused your sweet and loving friends...?"

Lord X: "Yeah, actually I am if they truly have reacted the way you describe it, I don't want anything to do with them ever again. I hope they drop me as friends on Facebook! Now, your five minutes are up, get your sniveling ass out of here before I ask my guards to throw you in the sea..."

---

This recording of the interview was dropped in our email today from an unknown source. We have not yet learned of the whereabouts of our reporter, he has been reported as a missing avatar to the SLPD (SecondLife Police Department.)

A Dishonorable Man

This post is a sort of reveal on my previous post Bock in SecondLife: Mitzi's Dilemma. I have struggled with whether or not I should post this, but finally decided to do so anyway.

I realise that my decision to do so may be as - or more - dishonorable than the actions of the person I am criticizing. Anyway, here goes!
"Scoundrel" by Mel Bochner
Fact 1: I paid Marcus Lefevre L$151,500 to rent a sim on my behalf for the Second Pride Festival. The payment was for 6 weeks of use of the sim (four weeks for building before the festival, one week for the festival itself and one week for cleaning up) at L$19,000 per week and L$37,500 for moving the sim to and from the Second Pride sim.

Fact 2: On the last day of the Second Pride Festival, I woke up to a barrage of emails and offline messages from Second Life, informing me that the sim I had rented had been closed due to non-payment of tier.

Fact 3: After trying to reach Marcus Lefevre without success, I contacted the sim-provider and was informed that the sim had been shut down because the tier was in arrears for the festival week and they had not received payment despite several messages to Marcus Lefevre.

Fact 4: To get the sim reopened - so that the festival could finish as planned - the sim provider agreed to let me pay them - on Marcus Lefevre's behalf - the money they were owed for the festival week and the tier for the clean-up week, thus I paid them L$35,554 (at L$17,777 per week). The company then opened the sim again.

Fact 5: On the same Sunday, Marcus Lefevre sent me this message on Facebook: "omg Bock I don´t even know what to say but it seems as if the error was entirely at my side. Please, if you can go to Value Rentals, they should be able to help. Let me know any additional costs you may have and I shall refund that money to you. I feel very emberassed, I`m sorry frown emoticon"

Fact 6: I informed Marcus Lefevre that I was expecting payment from him of L$35,554.

Fact 7: I have been able to communicate with Marcus only once, a Friday more than six-seven weeks ago, when Marcus asked if we could hold off the conversation until "after the weekend" because he was busy proofreading, Additionally he told me that he didn't "agree with (my) math's".

Many weekends later and since our last chat I have not been able to get in contact with Marcus Lefevre, neither have I received any payment whatsoever from him.
---

I can live with the loss of the $144 Marcus Lefevre owes me, but I cannot live with the knowledge that he may fool someone else.

Don't do business with this scoundrel, or if you must, count your fingers and toes first.

Riding On Poultry at Southern Charm

My wonderful husband Tomais has a huge memory bank, contrary to me. I am certain that an objective assessment would show that he has something like 4 GB of memory at his disposal, while I have a mere 15 kB.

It is therefore not at all surprising that he called an old post to my attention the other day, which I had forgotten all about. The post was this one, Bock in SecondLife: The Laird's Challenge for Vehicle Builders.
Tomais reason for reminding me was that he had acquired some rideable poultry and he asked me if I thought they would fit the description. I was sorry to say, that as the poultry he showed me were more like enormous farm animals than mechanical vehicles I could not consider them worthy of the reward.

Nonetheless, Tomais, my brother JJ and I had some fun riding the cocks over to my brother Dej's place to try and give him a scare. As it turned out - and as the creator warns about in a note card - the rezzing of multiple cocks on the same sim creates a fierce lag, so textures didn't come in sufficiently fast for Dej to be scared.
The only one of us who could get things to rez enough to take decent pictures was JJ, so I must thank him for the mementos.

New Logo for Bock in SecondLife

Bock in SecondLife is delighted to unveil its new logo.

The logo is to be used when the blog is represented at various SecondLife events, such as the Second Pride Festival or the Gay Archipelago SummerFest (among others).

This bolder, more retro and ironic approach features a Pristina font, which is the work of British designer Phill Grimshaw, a calligraphic typeface that displays all the natural, unrestrained qualities of cultured penmanship.

The logo is clearly inspired by the traditional Japanese Imperial flag and is designed to be both recognizable and highly visible. It comes in a variety of clear pastel colors which are pleasing to the eye, but it is also everso slightly asymmetrical, to indicate that the editor in chief is an opinionated and headstrong bastard who doesn't always aim to please.

The logo was created by the blog's own favorite graphic designer Tomais Ashdene after a concept by the blogger himself.
