Apmel, My Bodhisattva!

Apmel Goosson, my house god for many years, in a post on his blog today (url) came out with the shocking revelation that he is not God.

This appalling disclosure at first completely shattered all my illusions and the world as I know it became a dark and scary place. That is until I figured out what had happened!

My Apmel has, of course, attained the blessed state of Nirvana and is freed from the eternal cycle of reincarnation to move on to the afterlife, but on the threshold, he looked back at the suffering humanity and in his compassion decided to stay with us to help us in achieving enlightenment. 

Apmel has become my Bodhisattva, he is the one who will help me free myself from eternal desire and suffering.

Putin: No Shower With A Gay Man In A Submarine

The Russian President (...) was speaking to filmmaker Oliver Stone for The Putin Interviews. In a discussion about the military, Stone had asked the leader: "If you’re taking a shower in a submarine with a man and you know he’s gay, do they have a problem with that?"

According to the Daily Beast, Putin responded: "Well, I prefer not to go to shower with him. Why provoke him? But you know, I’m a judo master and a SAMBO master as well."

He added: "I can tell you this, that as head of state today, I believe it’s my duty to uphold traditional values and family values. But why? Because same-sex marriages will not produce any children. God has decided, and we have to care about birth rates in our country. We have to reinforce families. But that doesn’t mean that there should be any persecution against anyone."

Putin is often hostile to Russia’s own LGBT community, signing the country’s ‘gay propaganda’ law back in 2013.

Notice how Vladimir "Little Father" Putin, expects every gay man to want and not be able to resist his luscious and delightful body, how he will be able to deal  with the assault with his athletic prowess in martial arts an combat sports. And he does it all because "God has decided." And to calm us gay and liberal westerners he concludes that this doesn't mean there should be "any persecution against anyone".

The last part sounds extremely fake coming from a man who legislated again "gay propaganda" and doesn't lift a finger or much less does anything else to control his Chechen henchmen in killing, maiming and abusing gay men. 

Intelligent Design & The Prostate Gland

Today I had plans to talk to you about how the mere existence of the prostate gland according to Creationism/Intelligent Design (the belief that the universe and living organisms originate from specific acts of divine creation, as in the biblical account, rather than by natural processes such as evolution), logically must lead to the conclusion that 

a) God is a man, 

b) God is gay and 

c) God is a bottom.

...but then I thought about it a bit more, and decided that I didn't have the energy to do that today. Besides, as I myself don't believe in a god, it seemed like a wholly superfluous exercise.

Fact vs. Fiction

I saw this on someones timeline on Facebook yesterday, but cannot remember whose.

The humble carpenter Jesus of Nazareth and his teachings have been completely distorted throughout history, especially for political purposes.

Jesus has been turned into a fictional character by those who most adamantly purport that he was the son of the almighty deity and claim to follow his teachings to the letter, the fundamentalist "born-again" Christian sects and their politicized branches.

Preachers of these sects and politicians of the Conservative and Christian Democratic parties all over the world and the Tea Party movement in the United States have through the ages used Jesus as a vessel to further all their bigoted and discriminatory inclinations and putrid purposes.

It is refreshing to sometimes remember the carpenter as he actually was, according to the testimonials in the New Testament. It is, however, sad that I as an atheist should need to remind the "true-believers" of the facts about their deity. They have utterly misused the man and his teachings.

If it were not for Christians I would most likely be a follower myself, but of the man not the deity

Is Bock A God?

God is - at least in monotheistic religions - usually defined as a power (for lack of a better word) that is infallible  omnipresent, omnipotent (and therefore also omniscient) and perfectly good.

It is sometimes rather strange - and at times amusing - to read about myself on other blogs or in comments, where people seem to believe that I am all-powerful and all-knowing or the incarnation of goodness in the world. If they don´t think it themselves they imply that I do so myself.

I would like to address these allegations.

At the header of "Bock in SecondLife" there has since it´s creation always been these words (either in Swedish or in English): "Wherein this avatars fates, adventures and experiences in, his thoughts and feelings about and also his reactions to his first and second life are depicted with written messages, images and other visual tools."

• I have never assumed to be all-knowing or infallible. 
• I have never deluded myself with the notion that I know everything that is going on in any of my worlds, whether in deed or in word. 
• I have never assumed to know what anyone does or says to anyone else in private chats, IMs or in e-mails. 
• I have never pretended to be able to see into the hearts and minds of men, women or avatars. 
• I do not assume the role of judge and jury, even if I am a lawyer and sometimes throw in my legal opinions.

What I always have tried to do, however, is to honestly share my admittedly very subjective and personal points of views on things I experience, observe, read or witness in any other way. I also avoid relying on second hand information.

I have also repeatedly stressed and disclosed the fact that I am a fallible human with moods, likes and dislikes and weaknesses that can distort my clarity of vision.

I admit I sometimes make snap judgments and could use a kinder or politer way of communicating with my readers, but I firmly believe in being outspoken and honest and I expect others to be so too.
