SP Board Meeting 02/16/2019 - Minutes Posted

To assist my dear sexy friend Cay (cayson.triellis) and my adorable husband Tomais, the minutes from the board meeting they attended and found bewildering, confusing or downright objectionable are now posted at the Second Pride website (url) under "Documents". This (url) is the direct link to the aforementioned document for the lazy buggers.

The minutes contain a lot of great news, here I will only mention a few select ones.

  • Second Pride is applying to become an LGBT+ Gateway to SecondLife. If approved by Linden Lab the organization would save USD249 per month in tier and can reduce its costs - thereby being able to donate more to charitable LGBT+ causes in first life.
  • Changes in the mission statement of the Bylaws accepted by the board, to be voted on by the Membership.
  • Members are - as has been mentioned in a previous post - invited to contribute with their ideas on an updated logo for Second Pride, a theme for the Festival in June, and additional services they would like from Second Pride.
  • The 15th annual Second Pride Festival will take place between June 14th and 23rd, 2019.
  • New and improved donation kiosks are now available.
Read all about it and more at greater length in the minutes!

P.S. The Build Director also promised Cay to consider reintroducing floats parade in the festival.

I Will Float With The Tinies!

Yesterday I read my friend Ricco Saenz heartbreaking post Second Sighting: For hover height, Tinies gathered in a protest that was far from being tiny about the present struggles of the tiny community in SecondLife.

Today I have decided that I will sympathy-float with my tiny friends for one (1) month in support of their struggle. The only exceptions will be when I am taking part in a major motion picture production or modeling for one of the master photographers.

I am changing my hover height and making stilts as soon as I get into SecondLife.

Pride 2015 - Day 2, The Pride Parade

Franny Dean had outdone herself again. There were something like 73 floats and balloons/blimps in this years Pride Parade, some improved from last year but many new ones too.

The parade is always a highpoint for me, I simply love them! This year there were some initial problems to get the floats and blimps to rez due to lag, but nothing major or unexpected considering the amount of avatars that had assembled on the East and Main sims.

Sadly enough many of the floats went on by empty, so finally I could not control myself anymore but had to jump on. I am a hands-on guy and cannot stand and watch. Please don't bash me for only showing mostly pictures of myself in this post.
The dykes on bikes float
"It's raining men" with Helene
The marching band, with Helene and Garrett
The CanCan float with Franny & Helene
The Disco float, with Kahvy, & Butch
The Gay Meeting Point float, with Fordis, JJ, Hottie, OhioMike and Bambi
if I remember correctly...

Second Pride: Float Sponsor Deadline June 1

If you are considering a Gold or Platinum Sponsorship in this years Second Pride Festival, these are the last few days to select your float and send your logos to the organizers. (So as not to overburden The Great Builder Jak Calcutt with trivial matters, I usually handle such things trough his sexy and really quite clever handyman and little helper Karl Kalchek.)

So, its high time to pull all your thumbs out and take the plunge, get your floats or balloons here: Second Pride: Parade Floats 2014.

I'm A SP2014 Sponsor, Why Aren't You?

During the weekend Bock in SecondLife became a Platinum Sponsor of Second Pride 2014.

It only costs L$20,000, which roughly converts to US$80. I did it mostly to show my support for Second Pride but also to be able to get the opportunity to choose a float for the parade. I chose the Rainbow Snoopy blimp.
The balloon I chose
I love and adore Pride-parades and have missed them dearly since "the debacle of the barges" at the opening of Second Pride 2010 or 2011. That was when Second Pride was held at a Venetian styled sim and the parade was to consist of barges on the canals between the sims. Unfortunately the brilliant and beautiful idea got drowned in lag and the barges started crashing and sinking after barely making it out on the first part of the canals.

This year there are several different sponsor packages ranging between L$2,500 to L$100,000 (or more), it would be quite easy for you - alone or together with some friends - to buy a sponsorship and get one of the awesome floats or balloons for the opening parade.

After having seen them in action yesterday, I can honestly say they are even better than they look in the Parade Float Gallery

If you should have a business there are also vendor packages. Both the vendor and sponsor packages come with a wide variety of promotions and ads, see the full options at the festival packages comparison chart.

As Bock in SecondLife is a non-commercial enterprise depending entirely and solely on the good will of the independently wealthy Much Honored Bock McMillan, laird of Southern Charm etc., etc., I chose to donate all promotional and advertising to the Human Rights Campaign.

SP 2014: Parade Floats Disclosed

When I woke up this morning I found this offline notice in my email.
"Group Notice From: Second Pride Festival, Karl Kalchek

Platinum and  Patron Sponsors have until May 15th to reserve their floats. All Floats are first come first served for sponsorship.
Floats can also be seen online in the Gallery on the Second Pride website.
http://second-pride.com/103-2/2014-festival-packages/pride-float-information/parade-floats-2014/
Join us Sunday!"
I of course clicked the link to take a look at was offered. (Below you see the top third, follow the link to see even more of the prefabricated floats.)

I have always held the opinion that a parade and floats are more or less mandatory at a Pride celebration and I am extremely happy that both the parade and the floats are back! And these floats are more FABULOUS than ever!

I am almost certain I must have one of the prefabricated ones, but there is also the option - which I must consider carefully - of having a custom made one.

From the Second Pride website 2014 Festival Packages Side-by-Side, footnote #16: "Subject to availability, 12 - 15 floats are available for sponsorship on a first-come first-served basis. Sponsored Parade floats will include the Sponsor's Logo or graphics. Because there are a limited number of floats, Priority will be given to Platinum and Patron Sponsors until May 15th. After May 15th, Sponsorship will be made available to Gold Level vendors and Sponsors on any remaining floats. Please sign up for your package early!!! A limited number (6) custom built floats will also be custom designed and built for a fee of 15,0000L. Custom Designed Floats are not a part of the sponsor package (Platinum and Patron sponsors may custom design a float for 7500L in lieu of sponsoring an existing float if the have purchased their packages by the June 1st deadline and subject to availability). All custom designed floats must be ordered by June 1st. Deadlines apply. Please see sponsor Cards for additional details."
