Halloween@Ginger Holler

Yesterday night my Tomais and I dropped in at Ginger Holler for some Halloween themed fun. DJ Cupric was supplying the spooky music.

The place was filled with avatars in spectacular outfits. My winner in the unofficial contest of best outfit has to be PuPi - as usual - closely followed by Valex and my Tomais.

JJ's Birthday Bash

Today is the first life birthday of one of the sweetest, most charming and kindest men in SecondLife, the talented photographer JJ Goodman. He turns thirty-something (...or is it really 41?).

Yesterday Fordis Flores and some other of JJ's closest friends had arranged a surprise party to celebrate him. Amazingly enough it actually seems that it was a complete surprise to him, none of all those invited had spilled the beans.

Hotboy Resigns from Second Pride Board

At the Second Pride emergency board meeting today it was announced that the Events Director Hotboy Lockjaw (formerly known as MJshotboy Skytower) had resigned from the board on January 8, 2014, effective immediately. (The resignation has now been posted on the Second Pride website, Resignation of Hotboy Lockjaw - url)

Hotboy was duly thanked by the board for his efforts for Second Pride and it's membership and for a job well done, it was also noted that organizing events for such a diverse group is not an easy task.

The meeting then went on to a call for candidates for the vacancy as Events Director.

After some discussion it was decided that
  1. Interested parties should submit notecards to the Co-Chair/Secretary Andy Long a.s.a.p. but no later than Monday January 20, 2014, 5PM SLT, expressing their interest and outlining their experience in event planning and organizing in SL.
  2. The Second Pride forums will be opened for questions and responses until Friday January 24, 2014, 5PM SLT.
  3. The time of the board meeting to review the candidates and appoint the new Events Director is a yet to be determined but will occur during the weekend of the January 25, 2014.
It was stressed that qualifications for the job include, skin thick as a rhinoceros, no first or second life obligations at all and lots of time to spare, exceptional prior experience and a great talent for organisation.

The minutes from the meeting are posted on the Second Pride website, Meeting Minutes of Emergency SP Board Meeting January 11, 2013.

---

On a personal note, I would like to add the following.

I was extremely saddened to learn about Hotboy's resignation. However, after reading his statement, I fully understand that he must have been under great personal strain to finally take this step. I commend him for doing so. There is most certainly a limit to what attacks and pressures we can expect our elected officials to suffer for the common good.

To some degree I feel responsible for adding to the pressure by calling for events catering to all timezones. However, although I believe that such a move is necessary for Second Pride to grow, I would have accepted that it may not be doable at this time.

The new Events Director should hopefully be able to call upon the support of Hotboy, and others with previous experience of this post, as well as a group with an abundance of experience and ideas on how to handle things. This job cannot be accomplished without other people acting as shields, giving support and performing necessary tasks, thereby allowing the Events Director to focus on the main objectives.

The Six Wives of Henry VIII

On Sunday evening I had the great pleasure of seeing the musical play "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" at The Marduk Theatre at the Second Pride Festival.

The legendary Wesley Spengler, proved that he could clean up nicely and gave us a wonderful, helpful and humorous narration of the events that unfolded on the stage.

The music to illustrate the event was fabulously chosen to give a tongue-in-cheek interpretation of the lyrics so that they were elevated to a completely new level and meaning.

As could be expected, the audience participation was an added benefit. We all dove in with gusto and scathing remarks.
Catherine of Aragon, brilliantly interpreted by Van Auster showed us - albeit in pixelated form - that the reputation of the women from Aragon for being among the sexiest in the world is not false.
Anne Boleyn, played by MeatJockey Lederberg, and her sister Jane, played by Marcus Steeplechase,  arrive at the court after a few years abroad. Anne Boleyn successfully entices Henry VIII with her foreign talents and vices.
Archbishop Thomas Cromwell, elegantly played by Kharissa Indigo, awaits to escort queen Anne Boleyn to the scaffold after she has been convicted of all crimes possible and sentenced to death.
Queen Anne says farewell to the court and the world on the scaffold.
CHOP IT OFF!
Jane Seymour, played by Callinet Dagostino, heats up the king and all his men and every other man she encounters during her short life.
King Henry, formidably played by Marcus Steeplechase, takes a moving farewell of Queen Jane before she is sent to the scaffold to get her head chopped off.
The king mourns the demise of Jane for three years, here seen passing time with his buddy archbishop Thomas. The archbishop is meanwhile scouring the protestant royal houses in search of a suitable new mate for the king.
Anne of Cleve, portrayed with flair by MJshotboy Skytower, arrives at the court of Saint James´s but turns out not to be to the liking of the king.
Queen Anne sings her goodbyes with the country classic D-I-V-O-R-C-E before being shipped back to Cleve by the king.
The kings former buddy archbishop Thomas is sentenced to death and beheaded for "lese majesté" (treason against his sovereign) for arranging the disastrous wedding with Anne of Cleve. CHOP IT OFF!
Catherine Howard, played by Peewee Musytari, arrives at court to screw with the king and everyone else with a pulse - and perhaps even without...
The court rejoices and celebrates at the upcoming beheading of Queen Catherine.
Queen Catherine prays for mercy and says her farewells.
CHOP IT OFF!
Catherine Parr, performed with bravado by Philip Eubanks, comes to court to marry and nurse the aging king.
The king sings his final number, of course it could be nothing else than "My way".
Grand finale, the ensemble and the audience dance and applaud an excellent performance!

This was a definite success and was extremely entertaining. If you ever get a chance to catch the show, jump at it!
