SP Board Meeting 02/16/2019 - Minutes Posted

To assist my dear sexy friend Cay (cayson.triellis) and my adorable husband Tomais, the minutes from the board meeting they attended and found bewildering, confusing or downright objectionable are now posted at the Second Pride website (url) under "Documents". This (url) is the direct link to the aforementioned document for the lazy buggers.

The minutes contain a lot of great news, here I will only mention a few select ones.

  • Second Pride is applying to become an LGBT+ Gateway to SecondLife. If approved by Linden Lab the organization would save USD249 per month in tier and can reduce its costs - thereby being able to donate more to charitable LGBT+ causes in first life.
  • Changes in the mission statement of the Bylaws accepted by the board, to be voted on by the Membership.
  • Members are - as has been mentioned in a previous post - invited to contribute with their ideas on an updated logo for Second Pride, a theme for the Festival in June, and additional services they would like from Second Pride.
  • The 15th annual Second Pride Festival will take place between June 14th and 23rd, 2019.
  • New and improved donation kiosks are now available.
Read all about it and more at greater length in the minutes!

P.S. The Build Director also promised Cay to consider reintroducing floats parade in the festival.

More Sad News

I hadn't been on Facebook for a couple of days and when I logged in today there were two sad messages waiting, from Asta and Ezzie, both informing me that Carl Paneer - in SecondLife better known as NakedCarl - had passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018.
"NakedCarl" by Carl Paneer himself
In first life, Carl leaves behind a big family with a daughter, four sons and tons of grandchildren. By his side was also his best friend, the mother of his children.

Carl was a friend of mine and a fellow blogger. We used to join forces during the Second Pride festival each year. He was always more ambitious than I and tried his best to cover every event, I was more laid-back and covered the events I wanted to visit.

We were not close friends, but we had a good friendly relationship. Carl was a sweet soul who - although a bit quiet - always seemed to overflow with kindness and good humor towards everyone who came in contact with him.

I will always remember Carl with great fondness, and I will miss him very much.

Rest in the peace of the Universe, Carl.

I Could've Werked All Night

Bed, bed! I couldn't go to bed
My head's too light to try to set it down
Sleep, sleep! I couldn't sleep tonight
Not for all the jewels in the crown

I could have werked all night
I could have werked all night
And still have begged for more
I could have spread my wings
And done a thousand things
I've never done before
I'll never know what made it so exciting
Why all at once my heart took flight
I only know when he began to dance with me
I could have danced, danced, danced all night
I could have werked all night (You're tired out, you must be dead)
I could have werked all night (Your face is drawn, your eyes are red)
And still have begged for more (Now say goodnight, turn out the light)
(Please, it's really time for you to be in bed)
I could have spread my wings (Do come along, do as you're told)
And done a thousand things (Or Mrs. Pierce is apt to stir)
I've never done before (You're up too late, please, it sure is late)
(Sir, you'll catch a cold)
I'll never know what made it so exciting
Why all at once my heart took flight
I only know when he began to dance with me
I could have danced, danced, danced all night
---

...and then I went to bed with a smile on my face!
Happy Pride everyone!

Second Pride Festival, June 15th – 24th, 2018.

Get ready to rumble, boys and girls, because Second Pride 2018 is afoot.
This year's theme is "This is Me. This is Us. A Celebration of Community."

And to all those of you who say "Well, I surely don't belong to any community, especially not yours!", let me tell you this. Whether you effing like it or not, WE consider YOU to be part of OUR community. Chew on that for a while, darlin'.

It's time for you to get your booth or show your support. Second Pride is a charity event for equality and unity in Second Life. The LGBTQ+ Community is wide and divers in Second Life and they need your support!

Go to the Second Pride webpage (url) where you will find all the information you need on how to sign up and all the options for how to support this major event, but the main thing is: Second Pride NEEDS you! So don’t wait, sign up now!

Thank You, Board & Volunteers of Second Pride 2017

The fountain and the globe
I have just finished reading LLedge Eames closing statement for the 2017 Second Pride Festival. It begins like this (For the complete statement please go to The Second Pride website (url)):
"Thank you for an amazing 2017 Second Pride Festival!
As the sun sets on yet another wildly successful and my last Second Pride Festival season. I’d like to take a moment to say some thank yous. I am so grateful for this years outpouring of participation not to mention I had the pleasure of working with some of the most amazing talents from across the grid.
Our 2016 – 2017 Second Pride Board. Jak Calcutt with his outstanding builds and designs, creating a feast for our eyes, Marge Beaumont for her behind the scenes accounting, Tootsie Nootan and her security team (Levi & Kit) keeping us all safe, and Viktor Sandman for all his patience scheduling and wrangling our performers. To our volunteers. Kahvy & Garrett Smith for undertaking and creating some fantastic social media buzz along with all those bloggers. Lee McKay and his webmaster skills that put us back online."
The shopping mall
After thanking the sponsors, vendors, performers and others that contributed to making this one of the best festivals ever, he goes on to thank the attendants and then finishes
"On more than one occasion I was greeted by complete strangers and then thanked for providing them with such a true and wonderful pride experience. It was comments like that and many more that told me we had hit our mark. I can’t begin to thank this team enough. You ALL really outdid yourself and should be proud of all you accomplished.
As I mentioned earlier this is my last year as Chairman. It has been such an honor to be involved in this organization. As much as I am ready to step down, I will miss it and all the nuances. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to bring my hope and joy to you all through this wonderful outlet."
The Japanese Garden, a permanent exhibition
Well, I would in turn like to thank the board of Second Pride for - yet another - amazing and enjoyable festival. This Second Pride festival is up there among my top three all-time favorites since I first started going to Pride in SecondLife in 2008.

I can hardly imagine all the hard work and dedication our board and the volunteers put in to this venture - and all the work they did the rest of the year - for the LGBT+ community in Second Life.

It is even harder for me to understand why the boards dedicated work throughout the year has sometimes been met by criticism by fringes of the community, especially those who do not lift a finger or support the efforts in any way whatsoever.
The memorial chapel
Second Pride must exist first and foremost for the LGBT+ residents in SecondLife, to be an inworld presence, to offer support to other smaller LGBT+ organizations, and to represent our community to the surrounding community and to Linden Lab. All else must, in my not so humble opinion, be secondary to that.

I am saddened that the present board say they doesn't wish to continue, although I do understand their position. Hopefully some of them can be persuaded to continue, or at to return after some rest and relaxation from these responsibilities.

My deepest gratitude, again, goes to the board of 2016-2017 for a job well done!
The main stage
All the pictures in this post show the wonderful work that Build Director Jak Calcutt did for this years festival-venue. I have them in a folder named "The sim that Jak built".

Sneaking Away from Pride

"Let's sneak away for some quick fun", my love and husband Tomais suggested with a lot of innuendo in his velvety voice, just as Kahvy was starting the Zeus Club party at Second Pride yesterday.
Well, of course I said yes.

Turns out he wasn't thinking of some hanky panky, but only wanted to use me as free labor on his new riverboat from Bandit. (As if he needs a-n-o-t-h-e-r boat! His Inventory is already full of them.)

So as soon as I got on the boat, the love of my life slips me a HUD and tells me to use it. As soon as I activate the HUD, I am whisked down into the boiler room and forced to stoke the fires and shovel coal.

When I ask why I am doing this, and not him, he tells me in an affronted tone of voice, that he already has "...his hands full steering the boat, navigating, checking for cargo and loading it. If there is no one shoveling coal and stoking the fires the boat will stop", so that is what I have to do...

Furthermore, he then invites JJ and Wayne to join us on the riverboat, and the two get to lounge about on the boat, while I keep working my ass of with my sweat running down my brows, my belly, my back and my ass-crack.

When I ask why they don't get to join the fun in the boiler room, I am informed in a haughty voice that they are family and friends and "We cannot abuse them by putting them to work!" The other two giggle about that and go on to try out all the non-work related poses on the riverboat.

Well, I learned my lesson and it will take more than a voice full of innuendo and promises to make me leave Pride for the rest of the week.

Sponsored Event: The Sunday Tea Dance

Poster by Kahvy Smith

Second Pride Festival, Sunday June 25

Poster by Kahvy Smith
Another day loaded with events. I would like to direct your attention especially towards two events.

Firstly there is The Apple Fall Party at 10 AM SLT with DJ Kess and host Divos. The press release from Second Pride promises that there will be giveaways and also hints at the possibility that Apple Fall himself may attend.

As the amazing Apple Falls indubitably biggest fan in SecondLife I am going to make certain to be there for the chance to meet him close up and to get some of his freebies.

Secondly there is the Sunday Tea Dance with DJ McKay and host Garrett at 12 PM. This event is sponsored by Bock in SecondLife. I hope you will enjoy it! (If you don't have a Flat Bock 2017 already, I am certainly going to give them out sometime during this event...)

Take me to the Second Pride Festival sim! (SLurl).
