Closing Ceremonies of SL10B

This is from a press release by Gemma Cleanslate in the SL10B press group.

"Two weeks ago, the flags were raised to signify that the SL10B Community Celebration was open.

Now, two weeks later, the event is coming to an end and the flags will be lowered at 12 noon on Saturday 29th June.

Once again, the idea is that as many people as possible can watch the flags lowered, marking the end of the Celebration. The flags are stationed around the sims (you can see their locations marked with red X‘s on the map below).

Position of Flags for the Closing Ceremony
You don't have to land right on top of a flag (that would be rather painful!). The idea is to land close – you'll be able to find a spot where you can see the flags lifting!

Following the flag ceremony, there will be fireworks (organised by Marianne McCann) at the gorgeous Cake Stage (which will be viewable from many points).

And to round off events, from 1pm – 9pm SLT, there will be a party on the fabulous Turtle Stage on SL10B Impressive and SL10B Spellbound. Details of the DJs who'll be performing will be published soon.

So come and join us for the Closing of Second Life’s 10th Birthday Community Celebrations – and then stay to enjoy the party!"

Regi Comes to the Aid of Weary Walkers

With the simultaneous celebrations of Second Pride and SL10B you can meet many this week who are weary of walking.

Well, the immensely creative and wonderfully crazy mind of my friend Regi Yifu, owner, manager and chief creator of Regimade, has now come to the aid of all the residents of SecondLife who are tired of walking about.

Regi's brilliant imagination has created a flying saucer that is easily steered with the arrows, Page Up and Page Down keys on your keyboard. If you wish you can also use your own dances while standing on the saucer when it transports you to whatever location you may choose to visit. Once you are up in the air, you can say "beam" in local chat and the saucer turns on - or off - a colorful beam under it.

The flying saucers are a free gift at the Regimade shop at Second Pride, but you are also able to share it with all your friends once you got it for yourself.

If you do not have a friend that has it already and are too lazy to go to the store, please feel free to give me a holler and I will send it to you!
Regi demonstrates his flying saucer
Judas and I join in the fun (Please note that Judas is actually combining
two methods of non-walking movement, see the balloons below!)
Judas had an alternative method of transportation that spared the residents feet by offering transportation while hanging from a balloon.

The Rhino Writers Broadcasting Party

SL Live Radio broadcast party at the Rhino Writers pavilion at SL10B can only be characterized as a thundering success.

DJ's Johny Alderton and Heloq Tomsen kept all of us in an excellent mood with their music and chat. The crowd was lively and and in excellent spirits so we all had a good time. Among other things I learned that Heloq is from Italy and that his name is pronounced "Ghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-elo-kkkk".
Butch, myself & Guyke
From a strictly personal point of view there were a few added benefits and some drawbacks, which I will list for you here (What is it with me and lists these days, this must be the tenth in just a few days..?)

Benefits

  1. I got to meet Dodo, my most dedicated reader (which was proven by the fact that he was the only one who had read my post on saggy pants)
  2. Vampi Twine-DeSantis-McMillan-McMillan (honorary) was there, I had not met her in a long time.
  3. Bastien Berboral kindly shared a few  landmarks to shops I had never heard of after showing me pics of their awesome clothing lines.

Drawbacks

  1. My son told me that, "Face lights are so 80's!" (I am so not going to share my new landmarks with him.)
  2. My friend Butch told me that my beautiful skin is "OLD!". If I had newer skin I would not need face lights, was his reasoning.

Well I guess that's what you have family and friends for, to tell you the awful truth when you need to hear it. The only problems are that I feel ugly without the face light - as the old-timer that I am - and I love my skin. Oh well, maybe I do need to update my appearances, but it will be a struggle....

SL10B The 20+ Exhibition

My dear friends Vampi Twine DeSantis-McMillan-McMillan (honorary), Sergeant at Arms sirhc DeSantis-McMillan and Gittrika Mint also have an exhibition at SL10B. They had an opening party yesterday which I unfortunately could not attend because - of course - the two major events in my SecondLife have to coincide this year.

So I went to have a look at it today instead, you can also visit it here; Your limousine to 20+ (SLurl). It was an interesting experience and a lot of fun. I was not aware that Gittrika is a sculpture in SecondLife, so there was yet another revelation about a friends talents.
After having seen the 20+ exhibit I walked around to get a look at some of the other exhibitions when I was suddenly hailed by some other friends, Carol Morpork (nee Pixelmaid,) and her husband Timothy Morpork. It was good seeing them both again and we had a pleasant chat, among other things I and Carol compared notes on Timothy's kissing-abilities (Excellent, we both agreed) since I had attacked him on one of the previous Kiss-A-Swede Days and stolen a lovely kiss.

SL10B - The Spanki Moulliez Exhibition

One of the best thing about SecondLife is the creativity that more-or-less  every avatar you know displays. Sometimes it gets very apparent to me that all my friends and  acquaintances are extremely talented in one way or another.

One such insight came to me the day before yesterday when I visited the Rhino Writers pavilion at SL10B with my friend Butch. It turns out that just across the road from that my friend Spanki Moulliez has an exhibition also.

I have known Spanki for ages, literally ages, but he has been hiding his light under a bushel, so I did not discover until Butch took me to his exhibition that not only is he one of the most handsome men in SecondLife but he is also a  master photographer, it completely blew me away!

I highly recommend everyone to drop in at SL10B Spanki Moulliez (SLurl) for a visit, and then go to his permanent exhibition somewhere else in SecondLife. (I will add the landmark to his permanent exhibition as soon as I get it.)

Spanki, do your thing in comments, please!

SL10B Visiting the Rhino Writers

The SL10B opened today and the first thing I had to do was drop in at the pavilion of the Rhino Writers, the gay bloggers group in SecondLife.

Teno, Avacar, Rico and Ziggy had done an excellent job with the exhibition. The pavilion was highly visible with its spectacular color and shape. The interior design was also awesome, but we are gay so what would you expect?

Of course I could not resist the photo opportunity rhino

"Gone Fishing"

Today at 4 pm I started my glorious three week vacations, but this year I have a hectic program lined up in both my lives.

First Life
  1. Monday June 17, 2013, 10.30 AM local time - Eye-examination and possible laser surgery
  2. Wednesday June/19, 2013, 1.30 PM local time - Doctors appointment for check up on my blood sugar and to get a referral to a dietitian.
  3. "Rehabilitation program" to change my first life back to what it was and become a healthier, fitter, slimmer and more "old myself". Eat better! Sleep better! Exercize more! Socialize more! In short get back a first life worth calling "a life"!
  4. Take care off and see more of my first life parents and hopefully friends also
  5. Have sex...maybe, hopefully, perhaps...
  6. ...and relax and have a lot of fun...
SecondLife
  1. Second Pride Festival celebrations
  2. SL10B - the celebration of  SecondLife's tenth birthday
  3. Take care of my SecondLife family and friends
  4. ...and relax and have a lot of fun...

My Big Boy

Today I met my son Guyke at the gay SecondLife-bloggers group Rhino Writers meeting in preparation for our groups participation at the SL10B. Guykechen was there representing his husband Ziggy's blog "Ziggy On The Edge Of Second Life". (Well, not officially but I had brought him there in that capacity.)

Unfortunately we were not many who could make it to the meeting, so besides Guyke and myself there was Avacar Bluestar and his partner ricogenu and Jeff Ellsworth. It was soon apparent that Avacar and Teno Theriac had already had fruitful conversations on the matter and had come up with many good ideas.

After the meeting Guyke and I returned to Southern Charm to catch up and say our goodbyes. On top of the list of topics was of course what was going on in our first lives and Guyke's fabulous SecondLife  makeover.

"I decided it was time to grow up", the boy told me, "so I needed a complete remake for a more manly and less boyish look." And what a stunning look it is!

To my great relief he has not grown to big for hugging, I will never allow that to happen of course, but still it is good to notice that the Swedish part of his upbringing is deeply rooted in him.

Rhino Writers to Attend SL10B

The gay SecondLife-bloggers group Rhino Writers will  attend the celebration of SecondLife's tenth birthday on June 23, 2013.

The Rhino Writers involvement in the celebrations came about through the ingenuity of Avacar Bluestar who sent in an application which was accepted by the organizers. Yesterday he, together with teno theriac, went to claim the parcel our group has received for the event.

Avacar has called the group to a meeting next Sunday June 2, 2013, at 12 PM (noon) SLT at the Rhino Writers HQ in SecondLife. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and decide how we want to present ourselves at the event. Be there or be square!

It is a little unfortunate that this event happens to partly coincide with the Second Pride Festival, but hell we are men we can do it all!
The SL10B Community Celebration is Second Life’s 10th anniversary resident-run gala celebration, and it happens from June 16 to June 29. This year there will be 20 sims filled with art, exhibitions, information and events.

The theme for this years celebrations is "Second Life – Looking Forward, Looking Back".

For more information on the event please visit the official webpage SL10B Community Celebration (url).
