Ars 8th Rezday

On this day eight years ago the avatar Ars Northmead rezzed into SecondLife for the very first time. Ars impacted many lives during his time in SecondLife, among them mine.

"Avatars don't die, they just stop logging in", I was once told by a dear friend. That statement is correct of course, but one of the reasons for not logging in can be that the first life person has passed away - which is the case with my Ars.

I will always love you, I will always remember you and I will always miss you.

Forever Ars, Ars forever!

The Story of Guyke

Today is a day of festivities and joy in the kingdom of Southern Charm, for twas 26+ years ago on this very day that a newborn boy child was found on the stairs of the lairdal palace having been placed there by a wretched princess.
Later investigations by the SCSS (Southern Charm Secret Service) showed that it was the poor unwed princess called "Fat Martha" who had given birth to the boy while working in the fields. DNA proved that the father was indeed the late Ars Northmead, although the man vehemently denied having had carnal knowledge of the princess. For a long time it remained a mystery how the conception had taken place. It wasn't until prince Guyke (as the boy child was named) was in his eleventh year that the full sordid story was revealed by an anonymous blogger.

It seems that Fat Martha had come upon Ars while he was resting in a glen in the forest. She had drugged him and then had her way with his beautiful and strong body - or rather had taken full advantage of his unconscious but accommodating body.

The whole kingdom celebrates that the lairds beloved stepson and the heir to the throne of Southern Charm Guyke Lundquist is another year older in his first life, but still none the wiser and as lovable and charming as ever before!

Happy Zesentwintig Weer again my sweet Guykechen. I love you to bits, my darling!

A Unilateral Action

Today I have been in SecondLife 2,667 days or, expressed in another way, 7 years 2 months and 18 days.

I would like to think that I have friendly relations with most of the people I have encountered during those many years, some are still close, others I meet sporadically but for various reasons our paths have mostly parted, some have more or less or altogether left SecondLife and some I don't have contact with even if they are still around. But those that we are friends with or have amicable relations with are never the problem, are they?

The relationships that drain my energy, and that I have been thinking much about the last two weeks, are the failed ones. Those relationships that have to some degree turned into open or concealed enmity. I find that it weighs down on me and makes me weary to keep track of the perceived wrongdoings and insults. It has also to some degree turned into an unwanted bitterness on my part that I do not at all care for.

So today I am going to clean the slate by unilaterally forgiving those I feel have wronged me - or someone I love - intentionally or through carelessness, so that I thereby in time can forget the perceived insults and abuses. I am also asking those whom I know feel that I have wronged them for forgiveness. I am going to unblock all those that have previously been blocked from Instant Messaging me in-world or from entering my home sim or on social media sites.

I know that this action will most likely be labeled as "drama" by some, but I don't care one iota because I am doing it for my own sake not anyone else's. My forgiveness is in no manner dependent on the their willingness to forgive me.

As I do not believe a sweeping apology is enough I am going to name each and every one of those I believe deserve my forgiveness and whose forgiveness I need for my words and actions in the past. I will not go into my reasons for feeling hurt by those named, except in one particular case.

I forgive you, Ars Northmead, for dying and leaving me alone and heartbroken for such a long time. I also ask your forgiveness for resenting you for something you could not help. You know I love you, babe, and I know you loved me. Forgiving you was and is always easy.

I forgive you, Andrey Messmer (a. k. a. D R E Y Messmer), and ask for your forgiveness.

I forgive you, Martial Eisenhart, and ask for your forgiveness.

I forgive you, Butch Horton, and ask for your forgiveness.

I forgive you, Vanadis Falconer, and ask for your forgiveness.

I forgive you, Sjöfn Stoneshield, and ask for your forgiveness.

I forgive you, Kynlif Leikfang, and ask for your forgiveness.

I forgive you, Loo Berensohn, and ask for your forgiveness.

I forgive you, PetGirl Bergman (a.k.a. Tina Dahl), and ask for your forgiveness.

I forgive you, Alessia Kranfel (a.k.a. Vesper Kling and Mera Kranfel) and ask for your forgiveness.

Lastly I forgive myself.
---

The deed is done and now the rest of my life can start afresh. It is a big relief!

Happy Anniversary, Dej!

If anyone had asked me about you four years and a month ago, my dearest brother Dej, I would have told them that you were a friend of my Ars but that I myself couldn't stand being around you because you are an abrasive and arrogant bastard.

Then came March 11, 2010, the day that everything changed.

Since that day, I have come to love you, care for you and trust you. Oh, don't get me wrong, you are still an abrasive and arrogant bastard, but now I know you better. Under that rugged crust there is a sweet, loving, caring and loyal man who cares deeply for those close to his heart and whom one can entrust with your life and your safety.

Today you celebrates another of those "important" anniversaries, my sweet brother. Let's not go into which, suffice it to say you are over 25 and no longer a virgin. I find it strange that you sexy, sweet, warm and loving hunk of a man - despite my best efforts to sell you off - are still single on this auspicious day.

No matter, I know that someday, one day, there will surely come along another loving, warm and intelligent person that will make the effort to learn to know you and who will eventually love you for those sides of yourself that you hides so well. If he loves you half as much as I do, Dej, you will indeed be a lucky man!

Happy birthday, my brother, and may we spend many more of them together!

The Pressure, The Pressure...

I am indeed a fortunate man to have loved and been loved by two amazing, wonderful and talented men like my Ars and my Tomais.

With Ars it meant that I got involved in the SecondLife music & club scene, I don't think there was a single club in existence those days that I did not visit at least once, either for Ars sets or because one of the Sarco Sound DJ's were playing there. I must have been acquainted with most of the DJ's and club owners in those days too. Usually I was seen as a mere attachment to the SLebrity DJ, although I did my best to assist Ars during his sets in any way I could.

A new hubby, means new requirements! Tomais, as most of you know I'm sure, is a SLebrity photographer. His whole family - and it is large - consists of accomplished photographers or photo models, which makes completely different demands on my looks and demeanor. I must at all times look chic, dashing and lovely and also be able to bend into almost any pose that the photographer may requires for a particular shot.

I have therefore been forced be careful with what I eat and drink, never more than fifteen green peas a day and two glasses of champagne. I also follow a strict training routine to become as fit, slim and bendable as modelling for a master photographer demands. (See pictures)

Strangely enough I love it, because it is fun working with this mumbling and distracted man who is completely absorbed with angles, how the light falls and which of the 20.000+ Windlight settings (he has to go through them all for every picture) he is going to use. The reward comes after the photo shoot - and sometimes during - when we are both relaxed and goofing around.

On this day four years ago my beloved husband Ars passed away after a short illness.

Ars' brothers Dejerrity Mycron and Jeb Nicholls arranged a Memorial Service at Calas Galadhon where Truck Meredith and Tymus Tenk kindly let us use the homestead sim Mirromere for a week before, and their main sim for the big Memorial Service on March 20, 2010. Bora Rossini had created a beautiful setting for the memorial.

All of Ars' family and friends in SecondLife gathered there as well as Doug's parents, one of his sisters, his brothers and and even some of his nephews, nieces and cousins, who joined us in front of a computer screen using an avatar they had created.

I have asked for pictures from that memorial service earlier and this year I was happy to receive two from our friend elis Eun.

Although I never at the time thought that I would find love and true joy again, as it turns out life can work miracles and today I am happily married to my darling Tomais. I know that Ars would have wished this for me.

Labors of Love

When the Much Honored Bock McMillan, laird of Southern Charm etc. etc., returned home yesterday evening after a 24-hour excursion to first life he was completely blown away, baffled and extremely excited, elated and exhilarated to see the work that his loved ones had been up to in his absence.

Southern Charm looked more beautiful than ever before. My loving family and friends had undertaken to perform some of the landscaping and winterizing on huge parts of the sim. Beautiful winter trees had been planted in many places, while the previous trees and plants had been lifted far into the skies.
I cried out with joy when I saw what they had achieved, and to be honest, I kept on yelling much of the evening as I noticed the details one after the other. Tears of happiness flooded my eyes repeatedly, but especially when I saw what they had around Ars' Memorial.

The hairs on my arms, legs, neck and back stood to attention most of the evening as I saw what my loving family had done. They know me and my tastes so well that I was completely overjoyed. I was much too happy to take many pictures, but I am using two were taken at my new ice skating pond (where the meadow used to be).

Thank you so much, my sweet darlings and lover, this was the most wonderful gift I could get. I cannot even imagine how I will ever be able to repay you.

And here is a bonus picture of Guykechen in snow.

Catching up...

There is so much happening in my lives now, mostly the second, that I have a bit of catching up to do.

I have started a huge landscaping project to update Southern Charm while still keeping it beautiful. The creators and gardeners have been busy the last three years and there are so many better and more beautiful trees and plants on the market now. It is also something I firmly believe Ars and I would have done gradually if he had still been alive.

To my help in this project I have forcibly enrolled the assistance of my boyfriend Tomais, my son Guyke, my brother in-law Dej and my dear friend the intuitive, sublime and brilliant - yet amazingly humble - builder Butch. They - sometimes with the assistance of other friends - have guided me gently in this new world of seasonal trees and plants and other beautiful things that can be used in modern SecondLife landscaping.

I started by clearing of the old "flat" trees and only kept the old pine trees for the time being. Then I returned a shitload of stuff to the original landscaper, the original sim owner, former tenants and a few strange visitors that had somehow managed to rez things where they should be able to. This freed up almost 3.000 more prims (or whatever the modern term for this may be these days), so that I now have close to 6.000 prims to work with.

Next thing was the waterfall running from under the house. It got a major facelift.

I have slowly started replanting with trees that can be changed to any season with a single click according to my whim. It is awesome! Of course I will need different kinds of trees to, but so far I am going about this slowly.

Next thing will be to change the sims ground textures to winter, and in time get the other seasonal ground textures also. There are things I want to keep relatively close to the original design so I am going forward slowly.

And when I am not working on the landscaping I take time to smooch with Tomais and go out with friends and family.

Yesterday I took Tomais to visit with Ars at Mirromere. I warned tomais beforehand that if Ars didn't like the idea of me having him around he would most likely be ejected from the sim or get electrocuted by his own computer. Ars had his ways and means of showing how he felt...
However, Tomais was quite safe and nothing bad happened during our visit, so I am choosing to take that as an encouragement from Ars and that he after screening Tomais has found him worthy.

Later last evening I and Tomais went sleighing and skating at Calas Galadhon with Guyke and Ziggy. Ziggy has posted beautiful pictures of that enchanted evening here Ziggy On The Edge Of Second Life: A Night To Remember

Visit to Mirromere

Today I went for a visit with my Ars. I had some things to think about and Mirromere has always been the place I feel closest to him. I had a good think through there and some things were settled in my mind.

Afterwards I took a walk around the beautiful sim and found a place I had never seen there before, high up in the tree tops, and just relaxed and enjoyed the wonderful view of Mirromere glowing in all its autumn colors.

Memories of Bygone Days

In preparation for the upcoming week long celebration of the life and times of Marcus Steeplechase, who recently passed away, old treasures have been unearthed and again see the light of day. The old Ironworks Club is being erected again at this location and friends of mine have already visited.

When I logged into my Facebook-account today I was first struck by the amount of pictures my name had been tagged in, but soon realized why. A display from 2007 has been found in Marcus' Inventory showing frequent visitors to the club or maybe it was participants in a photo contest? I cannot remember anymore.
Among those shown in the display is the 6-8 months old me (third row from top, seventh from the left in the top picture). I still remember the hair and skin I am in very well, they were among the very first things I ever bought in SecondLife. To my left you see my then friend Drizz and fifth to my right is my brother in-law Dej. The whole display is full of familiar names, some of whom are still with us to this day.

A few months in SecondLife had finally made it clear to me that camping was not a worthwhile way to earn the money I needed. After having briefly considered the sex-trade I shrugged it off and decided to plug in my credit card instead, promising myself dearly that I would never ever spend more than  L$5,000 a month. Ah, the sweet innocence of youth...

In the beginning I did not at all want to look one bit like a Swede, but instead chose dark brown hairs and skins with California suntans (I seem to remember that this particular skin was named Hermes, but I am not sure.).

It wasn't until later, during my first year with Ars, that my appearance started to revert more to my first life looks with blond hair and lighter skin tones, because I realised I felt more comfortable that way. Of course the fact that blond hair finally stopped being a strange yellowish may have helped.

Among My Countrymen

This evening I went visiting in the Swedish community in SecondLife, the reason for this nowadays rare venture was that Bara Jonson and Free Balan were performing a benefit live gig for Relay For Life at my friend Apollon Allen's bar, which is located on my ex-wife Iendi Laville's sim Yadkin.
The place was packed and I thought I had never seen so many Swedish avatars in the same place for a long time, but someone said that it wasn't much busier than a regular Friday evening.

For a long time after Ars had passed away, I sought refuge among the Swedes, where I felt safe and protected, which I was extremely grateful for and needed badly at the time. They involved me in all sorts of activities to keep me from brooding. They also responded kindly to and took part in some of my crazy projects, most notably the "Nakna avatarer i SL" ("Nude Avatars in SL") blog project. I think I had well over 100 entries where the Swedes dropped their clothing and sent me their wonderful and imaginative nudie-pictures for publication. I still have many friends among them although my visits are not as frequent these days.
I danced with Jasmine most of the evening, which was a pleasure, apart from the obvious fact that we looked great dancing together.

It was a fun evening and I had a very good time seeing and talking with friends I had not been in touch with for some time. People were generous to the cause, which made it even better.

Celebrating Four Years of Blogging

"Bock in SecondLife" celebrates it's fourth blogoversary today!

Little did I know when I started my online presence back in 2009 that I would still be at it this long afterwards. After publishing the first post I actually didn't post again until 4,5 months later, but ever since then I have been posting regularly - even if it was somewhat half heartedly at the beginning. It took the passing of my beloved Ars and my need to relieve my anguish to get me committed to blogging and by-and-by it became a habit that I miss when I am not able to do it.

Before moving on to the singing, cheering and toasting with champagne in crystal glasses lets summarize the blogs existence with a few numbers.

2,237 posts
5,618 comments
396,007 pageviews
97 followers (of whom 3 prefer to be hidden)

Now all please rise and join me in singing to "Bock in SecondLife"

Happy blogoversary to you,
happy blogoversary to you,
happy blogoversary to you Bock in SecondLife,
happy blogoversary to you!

May you have many more,

may you have many more,
may you have many moooooooooooorrreeeee,
may you have many more!

Three cheers to "Bock in SecondLife"! Hip, hip!

Marcus Steeplechase - In Memoriam

When I came home from work today I received an email from my brother in-law Dejeritty Mycron informing me that news had reached SecondLife yesterday that Marcus Steeplechase had passed away.
Marcus Steeplechase
★
October 20, 2006  -  August , 2013
Marcus first rezzed into SecondLife the same week as my late husband Ars Northmead and Dejerrity Mycron. Ars always spoke highly of him and I know that Dej is grieving his passing.

I did not know Marcus well myself and only met him in his capacity of owner of one of the most famous and long lasting gay clubs in SecondLife, The Ironworks Club. He was always friendly to me and seemed like an extremely cheerful and boisterous man with a rowdy sense of humor.

After the Ironworks Club closed in early 2010 I didn't see him much in SecondLife, except at the Second Pride Festival last year. There he played the lead role of king Henry in the musical farce "The Six Wives of  Henry VIII". He also played Anne Boleyn's sister Jane and possibly some other roles too.

Rest in peace, Marcus!

My thought go to Marcus's family and friends in first life and in SecondLife, remember he was loved and will live forever in your hearts and minds!

Another Pet Peeve: Tinting Skin

Let me start this post by posting a (somewhat shortened) conversation I had with my dear friend Starlight Gentil today. The conversation reminded me of how long I have had this pet peeve.

s ţ α rℓ ίg ђ ţ: Hey Bock ! thank you for the invite ....  I'll be there ! yay !! hugs Star
Bock McMillan: YAY! You're so welcome sweetie, so happy we will see each other  again!
s ţ α rℓ ίg ђ ţ: :)))
Bock McMillan: Now begone please, I have to fit a bulge on my swimsuit and get the skin color  on the penis bit right... LOL
s ţ α rℓ ίђ ţ: OMG !! haha ...I'm picturing that !!
s ţ α rℓ ίђ ţ: Enjoy!!
Bock McMillan: ROFL - I cannot understand why the stores don't hand out cards with the RGB of the skins: Would that be so damned difficult?
s ţ α rℓ ίђ ţ: Haha... you do make me smile :)))
Bock McMillan: It's pet peeve of mine, drat the merchants
s ţ α rℓ ίђ ţ: Can you imagine telling peeps at work on Monday what you did on Sunday >?
Bock McMillan: LOL nooooooooooooo
s ţ α rℓ ίђ ţ: Exactlyyyy .haha. But these are such important issues here
s ţ α rℓ ίђ ţ: OK I'll be gone and let you start tinting ^^
Bock McMillan: It's a crazy world we are living in sweetie, can you believe we are here by choice?
s ţ α rℓ ίђ ţ: We're all weirdos .. who cares ..just enjoy
Bock McMillan: Haha will do! See you soon! Ohhh by the way this conversation is going on the blog....
s ţ α rℓ ίђ ţ: Oops ! ;D
Bock McMillan: ROFL
s ţ α rℓ ίђ ţ: grinz

No, it's not my own "attachment"
Ever since I rezzed in SecondLife some 6 + years ago I have had a problem with tinting the skin of penises, or rather six days after I rezzed. Before that I was hanging around at the arrival place trying to get myself to look half-decent.

Can you imagine what the first thing I looked for in Inventory was once I had seen myself naked? Yup, you got it - a penis. I couldn't for the life of me understand the cruelty of people letting a male avatar rez without having a penis handy, not even a flaccid one. "Damn holier-than-thou Yanks" I thought and then calmed myself with the thought that surely there must be a solution to this major malfunction.

Well, within an hour of venturing out of the arrival place, I had been handed three atrocious penises by male avatars who wanted me to service them. The penises were absolutely ugly, both in shape and especially coloring.  Is there really anything uglier in the whole world than a mismatched penile-attachment?

This problem has remained all through my SecondLife. While Ars lived he would help me with tinting, but since he passed away I am on my own with this and not doing great I am not afraid to tell you.

One of the earliest skins I bought in SecondLife was the Dante skin, I think it was sold by something called Naughty Designs. That skin came with a flaccid penis matched to the skin tone, but other than that I have only encountered  one more merchant that supplied skins with penises and that is The Fallen Gods, who supply penile-attachments free of charge in the correct tints.

The skin tinting problem used to be only a problem for male avatars, women did not have similar appendages - as we all knew long before we took Biology 101. That was true until mesh came along, with mesh feet and shoes that need to be matched with the skin the problem is now one that both genders struggle with.

Skin-merchants, when will you take responsibility and realize that it is a serious problem for residents because it is so difficult to properly match the skin of the body with the skin of the penis and other attachments? Why the hell can't you supply us with a card telling us the RGB of the skin  or a texture so that we can tint our penises and other attachments with some ease?

Open Letter to A Well Meaning Woman

My son Guyke will undoubtedly tell me, that writing this post is creating drama, but as I have told him in my opinion people who say that others are taking part in drama are often not willing to take a position on an issue or unwilling to declare their opinion in public. They instead accuse those who are willing and dare to do so of creating drama.

After logging off from SecondLife tonight I was tired and going to bed but wanted to check the latest updates on my blog list.

I happened to notice the following title on one of the "recent posts" on a blogroll, it read (translated to English and to English/American customs): "Second Pride Festival. Isn't That Like Brussel Sprouts at the Christmas Dinner Table?"

The post was on a Swedish SecondLife blog that I haven't been reading for several years, due to the fact that the blog owner (on this blog unlovingly referred to as "the mudslinger" ) made a personal attack on me by challenging whether my late partner Ars Northmead has ever existed.

The writer of this post was however not the mudslinger herself, but one of her sisters, cousins, friends, whatever, a woman with a more reputable image.

As far as I am aware, neither the writer, nor the blog has any connection or affiliation whatsoever to or with any LGBTQ person, organisation or community, be it in first life or SecondLife. This fact however in no way daunts the writer of the blog post from expressing her opinions on when and where the LGBTQ  community as a whole and worldwide should celebrate Pride and how they should do it to appear less gimmicky.

The writer utilises the interesting and insidious technique of phrasing all her statements as questions, which makes it completely impossible to hold them against her. I will however say this to her in an open letter:
My dear madam,
Your views on when, where and how we should celebrate our Pride, however well meaning they may be - and I must stress that I see them as well meaning - are from a purely heteronormative perspective and are, in my most humble opinion, lopsided, inaccurate, uniformed and/or false.
The fact of the matter is that every day, in every nation (yes, even in Sweden), in the virtual worlds and cyberspace and in every walk of life LGBTQ persons are verbally and emotionally harassed, underpaid compared to their straight (or closeted) equals, less likely to be promoted compared to their straight (or closeted) equals, emotionally, physically and mentally abused, violated, maimed and killed.
We will continue to celebrate Pride as we ourselves see fit, even if you should happen to disagree and consider, it more of a stunt or gimmicky. We do this to come together to rejoice over our past victories, for mutual support and to support our brothers and sisters in less democratic countries where they are forbidden to express their homosexuality in private as well as in  public under the risk of fines, imprisonment or death penalty, where they are also forbidden to demonstrate their pride in any way, shape or form. And we will continue to do so as long as we see it as necessary and fitting.
If you should wish to see and experience what Second Pride is all about, please let me inform you that the festival has always been open for everyone to visit and take part in. Alas the festival for 2013 was concluded a week ago but I would be happy to accompany you and show you around the exhibitions and the parties at next years Second Pride Festival.
Yours kindly,
Bock McMillan

Hanging With the Guys When Blanche Comes By

The very first thing I did when I got in-world this evening was to put on my regular skin again, which was a great relief. I had started looking at my shape settings when my buddy Butch called and wanted to come over for a visit.  We compared a few measurements and then he told me to drop the silliness because he thought I looked quite acceptable. (I will probably revisit the issue later though.)

A while later I saw my stepson Guyke come in world so I asked him to join us, which he said he would in just a second. He didn't turn up until a million seconds later, luckily form hijt as I was going to give him a good talking to.
Guyke
We had a great lazy evening hanging, just talking about nothing special and everything and being in each other's company, relaxing after a - for various reasons - rough week.

While we were sitting there I got a call from my Swedish friend and co-blogger Blanch Argus, who is on a long vacation in first life at the moment. She had dropped in for a few short visit with friends, so I invited her over.
I and Blanche
The four of us had a good time chatting for a while with Butch sharing how he really is a closet heterosexual and had done horrible ewwwwwy stuff with women. He claimed to have been reformed, but I for one am not talking his word for it but am going to keep a close eye on him in the future. Hopefully he should end up with nice gay man who will treat him right.
Guyke & Butch
The four of us and the always present Ars
Blanche had to leave for fer first life commitments a while later but the rest of us remained sitting long after the sun had set over Southern Charm.
